Chapter 107 - Bang!

Using what he learned from his brother and the Shenlong Family, Callum listened to the sounds of the gunshots to determine the directions of each gunshots as well as the number of shots per load.

Once he had a rough idea, he waited for the right time.

"Now!" he said to himself before he got up and quickly fired shots at the masked assailants while his guts told him that they were reloading their guns.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

6 perfect shots, 6 dead masked assailants.

"Shenlong Xun! Come out now if you don't want more people to die!" one of the shooters yelled. This time, half of them were shooting toward Callum's direction. The wall that they were hiding behind was too small for them to fully cover their bodies.

Callum signaled the detective to move over to the inner wall before he yelled back at the shooters to taunt them, "Well, I don't want to die either!"

"I'm not leaving!" the detective hissed at him, only to have her other gun taken away.

As Callum swiped her bullets, he said, "They are here for me."

"Give me my guns back!" she snarled as she tried to make a move for it, but he merely pushed her face away.

"Later, sista~" he said grimly as he covered himself from the barrage of bullets. "F*ck! A machine gun?!" he cursed over the loud sound caused by the constant flow bullets hitting the wall.

"You're shot!" Detective Qing gasped. The small wall that they were hiding behind was too small and his right arm was shot. Blood was flowing out quickly, but the man himself did not even wince at the sight.

He waved the hand that was holding the gun nonchalantly as he murmured, "Just a little wound. Now, go! You're bothering me! This wall is not going to hold any longer!"

The moment he heard that the machine gun ran out of bullets, Callum immediately shot at the machine gun wielder. As the man was hiding behind the car door, he only got his leg.

"F*ck!"

Thankfully, at this moment, another group of cars arrived and one of the cars, a tinted BMW, rammed straight at the machine-gun wielder. The machine-gun wielder could not escape in time and along with his car, he was pushed back by the BMW.

By the time the BMW stopped moving, the machine-gun wielder was severely injured. He was bleeding profusely and trapped between the two cars.

While the first group of masked assailants was still in confusion and unsure of whether the new group was friend or foe, the driver of the BMW, who was wearing a mask and dressed completely in black, then came out and killed the machine-gun wielder with one swift punch to the head.

The two groups of men then started shooting at each other. Meanwhile, after a couple of shots, Detective Qing signaled her men to stop because she noticed that the two were shooting at each other.

"F*ck them! Always take forever!" Callum cursed under his breath as he held his bleeding arm while wearing a smirk on his face. Meanwhile, the policemen and detectives exchanged glances as they wondered what they should do now.

A few minutes later, there was no more shooting and Callum heard the sound of cars driving away. He carefully peeked from where he was hiding and saw that the first batch of assailants was all dead.

He looked at the policemen who were still high on alert. One of the senior policemen slowly got up to check the situation.

"Go!" the senior policeman yelled as his men moved into position to cover him in case anyone from the first group of assailants was still alive.

Once they made sure that everyone was dead, he yelled, "Clear!"

"You're bleeding, Mr. Shenlong!" Detective Qing snapped as she took her guns away from Callum.

Instead of saying anything useful, Callum merely grinned mischievously as he said gleefully, "Great! Now my wife is going to be nicer to me!"

He then looked at Detective Qing, who facepalmed herself, and added, "You wouldn't know the joy of being injured unless your other half likes to be mean to you."

Detective Qing was left speechless.

...

Once Callum was tended to, he was taken to the police station for his statement to be taken. Callum kept saying that he had no idea who the two groups of people were. He also smartly shut down every attempt to get him to reveal the members of the second group from the detective who took down his statement, Detective Qing.

Callum's statement was simple. He merely described what everyone saw earlier.

The moment he was done with his statement, he received a call from a nervous Luo Guangying.

Since he dabbled in forex, Luo Guangying usually spent his morning watching the news. That was when he saw the news about the shooting.

"Hello, my-"

Before Callum could finish his words, Luo Guangying interrupted him, "Are you alright? Are you badly hurt? The news report said that you were shot!"

Callum chuckled when he heard the worried tone in Luo Guangying's voice. He then crossed his legs and said, "Hey, my love, love your voice as always. Don't worry about me. Your stud is still fine. It's just a graze."

"Who the f*ck are those people?"

Callum shrugged. "I don't know."

He figured it was one of the people that his family offended before, but there was no way he would say it out loud in a police station.

There was a moment of silence before Luo Guangying said, "I'll come immediately."

Callum's heart warmed up when he heard that. Still, as much as he wanted to see him and do something else with him, he did not want to trouble his other half.

Detective Qing, who was sitting at the same desk, shivered when she saw the man smiling like a maiden in love while he said mushy stuff on the phone. "I never knew this day would come, for me to see a handsome man speaking like that..." she thought as she typed something on her computer.

"Aww... Wifey, you don't have to. I'll be back tomorrow morning. Seriously, I'm not badly injured. This is nothing compared to the punches you gave me..." Callum said. "Actually, your punches hurt more since they are almost always near THAT part."

Seeing that Callum could still joke around, Luo Guangying sighed in relief. He then chuckled and mumbled, "Idiot..."

"Only yours," Callum said with a smirk. "Anyway, I don't want to stress Lin out by sending her to and fro other people's house."

Luo Guangying nodded and he looked at his mother who was sitting on the other couch. She was watching the TV with him earlier, and so, she saw the news as well. There was a worried look on her face as she mouthed, "Is he ok?"

"He's fine," Luo Guangying said to her. "Just a graze."

Lin sighed in relief and patted her chest when she heard that.

With a sigh, Luo Guangying said to Callum again, "Fine... Be careful, alright? And don't go anywhere else. I'll call your cousin and ask him to send more bodyguards."

Callum glanced at Detective Qing and made sure that she was too busy to pay attention to him before he whispered, "You know, I am the heir, right? Having people after my life comes with the surname."

"Shut up, you jerk!" Luo Guangying said angrily. "You better stay alive, or I'm going to kill you myself!"

Callum chuckled at the threat and nodded. "Since my wife wants me to stay alive, then I will. See you tomorrow, and I love you."

There was a moment of silence followed by a quick "I love you too" before the line went dead. It took Callum a few seconds to register what his "wife" just said, and when he did, his face lit up like a red lightbulb.

He then chuckled as he placed his phone back into his pocket.

Seeing him chuckling to himself, Detective Qing asked, "Your wife?"

Callum merely gave her a secretive wink. "Let's just say that I can't wait to go home."

Detective Qing did not want to guess what Callum wanted to do at home. Instead, she said, "Mr. Shenlong, I advise you to stay at the hotel and don't go anywhere for now."

Callum thought for a while and glanced at his watch. He then shrugged and said, "The guy from the Zheng Family is coming here after lunch, right? I'll just wait here and talk to them before I return to my hotel later."

....
