Chapter 108 - Zheng Wei

After lunch, Zheng Wei, the current owner of Zheng Jewelry, arrived at the police station. After a detective took him to identify the things that they found near the bones at the coroner's office, Zheng Wei returned to the police station angry and demanded to see Detective Qing.

"It's that b*stard! I'm telling you!" Zheng Wei exclaimed as he walked around the police desk area.

"Calm down, Mr. Zheng. Who are you talking about?" Detective Qing asked patiently as she held a clipboard and a pen. She was sitting at her table minding her own business while eating her baby carrots when the man came over to bother her.

Frustrated, Zheng Wei pulled an unoccupied chair from the other desk and sat next to Detective Qing.

PAP!

Zheng Wei slapped his hand down on the detective's desk before he cursed, "F*ck that b*stard! My father's b*stard son! The only one who would do this to my father is him!"

"As far as I know, in his climb to the top, Zheng Hai made a lot of enemies," Callum said while flipping a magazine. He was still at the police station as he wanted to talk to Zheng Wei. However, he regretted his decision when he saw that Zheng Wei ordering people around.

Callum stood up and glanced down at Zheng Wei. From the moment the latter came in, he kept ordering everyone around while complaining about the weather and the smell.

"Who the f*ck are you?" Zheng Wei snarled as he stood up and stepped up to Callum. He had to tip his head back slightly so that he could see Callum's face properly. When he walked in earlier and saw Callum with bandages around his right arm and blood on his shirt, he thought that Callum was a policeman, and thus, he did not pay much attention to him.

It was rare for people to be rude to him, so Callum could not help but raise a brow at the man. It was as if he were daring the man to repeat his words.

Sensing something was wrong, Detective Qing stood up and went to stand between them as she introduced the men to each other. "This is Mr. Shenlong, the representative of Du Corporation."

Zheng Wei rolled his eyes. And a second later, he gasped and looked at Callum with suspicious-looking eyes. "Mr. Shenlong? From the Shenlong Family in Imperial City?"

"Unfortunately, yes," Callum said as he faked a smile.

The scary gaze in his eyes caused Zheng Wei to shiver before he took a step back. Realizing what he was doing and where he was at currently, Zheng Wei managed to calm himself down a little.

He then went back to his seat and sat down before he spoke again; this time, he toned down his volume. "I'm sorry, Mr. Shenlong, but I'm sure that guy did it."

Detective Qing warned Callum not to start a fight here before she sat back at her seat. The sound of her typing was the only sound in the room. All the other policemen were staring their way and keeping an eye on the two civilians.

After a minute, Detective Qing said while keeping her eyes on the computer screen, "According to our record, the victim didn't have any other children other than you."

"Well, that's the official record," Zheng Wei said and rolled his eyes. He crossed his legs and snarled, "He has an illegitimate son. My father never acknowledged him, and I'm sure that the b*stard felt vengeful and killed him!"

Detective Qing nodded and took notes of his words. She then asked, "How old is this brother of yours?"

"F*ck, who knows..."

Callum placed his left hand on Zheng Wei's shoulder and gave it a squeeze. When the man glanced back with fear written in his eyes, Callum then leaned down and whispered threateningly, "Cooperate here or f*ck off."

Zheng Wei gulped and nodded furiously. He then cleared his throat and said, "With all due respect, Mr. Shenlong, he is no brother of mine! He's just a thing that my father created a long time ago."

When Callum glared at him, Zheng Wei quickly added, "He should be 4 years older than me... I'm not too sure of his age! We don't talk about him at home!"

Callum did quick work and murmured, "Based on the estimated time of death, that would put him at around 15-16 years old at the time Zheng Wei was killed. He should be in his late thirties now."

"Can a teenager do something like this?" Detective Qing wondered aloud as she leaned against her chair. The sound of her tapping her pen against the metal side of her office chair annoyed Zheng Wei.

Zheng Wei then reached out to stop her and when she glared at him, he pulled his hand back and said angrily, "I'm telling you; that b*stard did it!"

BAM!

The loud commotion caused everyone in the police station, including those who were locked in the temporary jail, to look over. As for Zheng Wei, he was so startled that he fell off the chair.

Callum had slammed his hand down on Detective Qing's desk and was now glaring at Zheng Wei, who was sitting on the floor looking up at him.

Callum felt angry when Zheng Wei kept repeating the word "bastard" over and over again. He felt that the man at his feet now was probably the same as Luo Guangying's younger brother, Luo Yin, and Callum felt upset when he thought about how his lover was treated by his family back then.

Callum then grabbed Zheng Wei's arm and helped him back into his chair before he said gruffly, "My hand slipped."

Detective Qing could sense the change of emotion in Callum. Even though she did not know why, she tried to change the conversation by asking, "Where is the victim's oldest son now?"

Zheng Wei shrugged. He kept an eye on Callum as he said carefully, "I-I don't know. My mother told me that my father got rid of the b*s- I mean, his eldest son and that... woman a long time ago. I guess he paid them off? Maybe that guy bore a grudge and killed my father when he got old enough."

"We'll look into this," Detective Qing said.

When Zheng Wei got up, Callum grudgingly offered his hand. As the man looked at him with weird, suspecting glance, Callum added, "Mr. Zheng, I just want to say on behalf of my brother, Du XiAn, that we want to express our condolences for your loss."

Zheng Wei looked at him for a few seconds before he shook his hand. With a sigh, he added, "My father had been missing for more than 20 years. He built our company from scratch, and I knew that he wouldn't have run away from anything. For him to not come home for so long, I'd expected this to be his outcome."

....

"Did you hear what he said earlier?" Callum asked Detective Qing as they watched Zheng Wei walked out of the police station.

She nodded. "That his father got rid of his mistress and his illegitimate son?"

"Yeah."

As she leaned back against her chair, she thought for a moment before saying, "I think there's more to Mr. Zheng Hai's death, and our Mr. Zheng Wei might not know anything about it."

"His mother might know something," Callum mumbled. No one other than Mrs. Zheng knew about the illegitimate son.

Both of them exchanged glances, and in their mind, they were thinking about the same thing - there might be two more corpses out there.
