Chapter 209 - Don't Tell!

The next day, Sunday.

Amelia the cook went to the public market to buy fresh vegetables and fish.

Caroline was sporting a pleasant smile on her face while engaging in a painting session with Greg in the pool area.

Greg studied Caroline's face for a minute or two. "You look radiant today, may I know why?"

Caroline glanced at Greg and gave him a nod. "Nothing...just a beautiful day," she answered nonchalantly.

"What are you going to draw today?" he asked looking at the tutorial book that she was holding in her hand.

Caroline flipped the pages of the drawing guide and tapped her finger on the photo of three red roses, complete with stem, thorns, and leaves. "I'll try this one...It looks easier to draw," she said.

Greg agreed. "Okay...you do that. I will choose an enchanting landscape of a lake to draw today, I found it online."

"Alright, let's get started!" Caroline stated.

The two began mixing colors on their palette and focused on their task wanting to produce their next masterpiece.

Here comes Alex walking towards them in a relaxing manner.

"Hello, class...what are we going to paint today?" he chuckled in amus.e.m.e.nt.

"Anything you desire, bro! The sky is the limit!" Greg grinned.

"Alright, I think I will paint Mt. Everest today. I love watching the clouds and the tallest mountain on earth embracing each other. How romantic!" He grinned and winked at Caroline. He took a canvas and began mixing the paint on his palette.

The three artists diligently work on their canvas.

Occasionally, Alex would stare at Caroline's back and smile absentmindedly. It's wise to position himself on her back, he can ogle at her without getting seen. Call him crazy or what...but seeing Caroline immersed in her painting makes him happy.

He was smiling while sketching the Mt. Everest in his mind.

A few moments later, he rose to his feet and left the pool area and went back to the house to get something....he forgot to bring his phone.

Alex was back in the pool area in no time holding his phone in his hand scanning for messages. He sat on the chair and continue his painting.

Fifteen minutes went by.

Amelia, the cook just returned from the market. After securing the vegetables and fish in the fridge, she exited the kitchen and went to the pool area.

Out of the corner of her eyes, Caroline saw Amelia and nods her head. The cook turned on her heels and went back to the house.

Caroline put down her brush on the palette and stood up. She sauntered towards the house feeling excited to get her hands on the pregnancy test. She caresses her tummy excitedly.

She went to the kitchen and saw Amelia sitting on the chair, making food preparation for dinner. "Have you brought it?" she asked.

Amelia nodded her head. "Yes." She was about to take the pregnancy test kit from the pocket of her skirt when she saw Sir Alex entering the kitchen, she dropped it back.

Caroline froze on her back.

"Amelia...what are you going to cook for dinner?" Alex went inside the kitchen looking for something to eat and saw the ripe bananas on the table. He sat on the chair and took one piece of ripe banana and began munching on it.

Caroline glanced at Alex. What is he doing here?

Alex looked at the two women and casually asked, "Girls, did I interrupt something? Why did you become silent? Come on, carry on with your conversation," he urged them.

Caroline sighed and left the kitchen. She trudges towards the living room, climb the stairs, and went straight to her room. Hmph! Alex is becoming a nosy body! Why does he have to follow her in the kitchen!?

Inside her room.

Caroline lies in bed. She will just wait for Alex entering his room and then she will go back to the kitchen to get the pregnancy test from the cook.

She waited at her door and pressed her ear on the wall, waiting to hear Alex's footsteps on the floor.

She didn't wait for long 'coz a few moments later...she heard footsteps originated from the area of the staircase.

She waited for a few seconds to pass by before opening a door a little and saw Alex entering his bedroom. The moment he entered the door and closes it behind him, she exited her room and walked quickly towards the staircase.

The door of Alex's bedroom opened suddenly.

Caroline froze.

She waited for her name to be called out. When he didn't say anything, she descended the staircase in a hurry without looking back over her shoulder.

Alex went back to his bedroom, smirking.

Caroline reached the kitchen and went to the cook's side. "Amelia, where is it?" she asked hurriedly.

Amelia was shaking and apologizing. "I'm sorry, Ma'am, but Sir Alex took the pregnancy test kit from me. I'm sorry that I was not able to lie when he asked me what we are discussing about," the cook said guiltily.

Caroline shut off her eyes and bit her lower lip in anger. Damn! Alex!

"It's okay, Amelia, calm down. I'm not angry at you. It's not your fault. Alex is your employer, you should obey him," she said and left the kitchen feeling upset.

She climbs back the stairs and went straight to Alex's bedroom. She knocked on the door twice and it was opened right away as if he was expecting her to come to him.

Alex opened the door wide for her to enter. "Come inside and let's talk," he commanded.

Furious, Caroline bit her lip. She went inside the room and Alex locked the door.

He directed her to the chair on the corner. "Take a seat and make yourself comfortable," he ordered.

Caroline walked towards the chair and sit down. Her gaze sweeps the entire room in just a few seconds. His room is clean and tidy. She was looking for a photo of his wife, she found none. Then her eyes landed on his chest.

Alex sat on the edge of the sofa facing her. "Why did you instructed the cook to buy you a pregnancy kit? Are you suspecting that you are pregnant?"

Caroline's lips quivered, she crossed her arms on chest. "It's none of your business!" she snapped at him bitchily.

Alex finds the expression in her face cute. "If you are indeed pregnant...I'm sure it's not my brother Greg's child...nor it's mine..."

Caroline rolled her eyes with his last statement. "If I'm pregnant. It's my husband's child!" she set the record straight.

Alex shrugged. "Alright, calm down. So—after the pregnancy test confirmation—you will come running back to your husband?" he asked, very eager to know her next plan.

"Yes!" Caroline answered right away. "I'm going home..." she said with determination mirrored in her eyes.

"Okay, just let me know when you decided to go home. I will deliver you to your husband—safe and sound," he volunteered.

"Thank you, Alex!" Caroline sighed. If only Allison is like Alex, then she would not be facing any problem right now. But Allison knows her secret, and that woman would always use it against her.

Now that she was facing the prospect of carrying a baby in her w.o.m.b, this is a game-changer. She can't continue living in this house when she was already carrying her husband's child, the most logical thing to do is to go home.

Alex was observing the myriad of emotions flickering on Caroline's face. "What are you thinking right now? You look so tense, it shows in your face..."

Caroline raised a brow. "Huh—?"

"I said, your worry is leaping from your eyes. You're not saying anything but your eyes are speaking volumes," he commented.

Caroline released a deep sigh. "Can you please give me the pregnancy test kit so that I can get a confirmation today?"

Alex smiled. "Okay...but before I give it to you...can you massage my back first?" he requested politely.

Caroline rolled her eyes. "Whatever..." she huffed and positioned herself in his back. She began kneading the muscles in his back. "Why can't you hire a masseuse? I'm sure you can afford one!" she retorted.

Alex ignored her ramblings.

"Hmm...I love the way your hands massage my back... it's heavenly..." he murmured closing his eyes in the process, feeling his body start relaxing under her sensual touch.

Caroline continues her massage, praying that it will be over soon so that she can finally have the pregnancy test kit and confirm her current condition.

A few minutes later.

"Alright, that's enough, babe," he said, grinning and gazing at Caroline, wanting to tease her. "Do you know that I dreamed of you and me and our twin babies several times already?" he informed her.

A line of confusion appeared on Caroline's forehead. "Huh? What are you talking about? How could there be children between us? We are not in a relationship! Are you crazy or what—?" she throws him a petrified look.

Alex ignored her sarcasm and insults. "Never mind. But...just in case the going gets tough for you in the future and your husband can no longer accept you. I'm still here. Come back to me. I want you to become my woman," he revealed his offer to her with as much seriousness as he can muster.

Caroline's eyes widened after hearing his offer, then a burst of laughter erupted from her lips. "You're funny, Alex. You don't know what you're saying. You have no idea..." her voice trailed off.

Alex brows knitted together. "I have no idea of what—?"

Caroline crunched her nose. 'You have no idea that I'm a murderer!' I murdered your ex-girlfriend!' she answered his question in her mind.

She extended her right hand to him. "Hand me the pregnancy test kit...please!" she said urgently.

Alex fished out the test kit from the pocket of his cargo pants and placed it on her palm. "There you go!"

Caroline closed her palm and rose to her feet, she looked at him. "Can I ask you a favor, Alex?" she said.

"Okay, let me hear it first," he replied curiously.

"Can you please don't tell Allison about my condition, only after I'm gone, please?" she pleaded.

Alex studied her face for a few seconds. "Okay, as you say so. Go now and conduct the test and let me know if it's already 100% confirmed," he said and lay his body on the bed.

"Thank you!" Caroline spoke. She sauntered towards the door and exited the bedroom quickly.
