Chapter 208 - Unexpected!

Two days later.

One bright morning, Caroline woke up early as usual.

This morning is the same, nothing special happening with her life. Although she felt lazy, she needs to get up from the bed and face the world outside.

She already accepted her fate that she can only be freed from Allison's clutches once Greg dies. So far, Greg's treatment of her is a civil one, more like a friend, he didn't attempt to touch her in a lewd manner, and she appreciated it very much.

She ordered something online for him and it will be delivered today.

She and Greg eat breakfast together at 8:00, and Alex came into the dining room when they were about to finish their meals.

After finishing breakfast, Caroline and Greg proceed to the living room.

Thirty minutes later.

The delivery arrived. Caroline thanked the delivery man.

"What's that—?" Greg asked peering at the box.

"You'll see..." she replied and smiled.

After she finished taking out everything...Greg finally understood...Caroline brought him a painting set!

It's a 64-Piece Acrylic Painting set complete with 10 pieces of canvas. And there was also a tutorial book designed for beginners, filled with paintings of beautiful landscapes that is easy to follow.

Greg's mega-watt smile was priceless!

"You remembered..." he said, tears sprung in his eyes.

Caroline smiled. 'Yes, I do," she said softly. She remembered in the early days of their relationship that he wanted to be a painter one day and paint beautiful scenery such as the ocean, beaches, mountains, flower gardens, and many more.

"Come, help me set up the canvass in the pool area because that's the good place to paint beautiful scenery!" she enthused excitedly.

"Y-you will paint also?" he asked.

"Yes, of course! I also wanted to try painting. And now is the best time to do that!" she answered cheerfully. "Let's do it together and see who paints better!" she suggested.

Greg beamed happily. "Alright," he said.

They brought the box in the pool area, set up the canvass, and began flipping on the tutorial book.

They mixed the colors on the palette based on the tutorial.

And they began painting seriously, occasionally looking at each other's works and erupted into a burst of amused laughter.

Fifteen minutes later.

Greg has the inborn talent because he was able to sketch the pool area in detail...while Caroline was trying to draw a tree but ended up painting an abstract landscape.

They were in that condition when Alex came into the pool area and looked at their masterpieces. "Guys, what are you doing?" he asked them.

"Caroline ordered a painting set so that we can practice drawing," Greg replied without even taking off his eyes from his canvass.

Alex studied his brother's canvass for a few seconds, he patted Greg's shoulder and gave his verdict. "That's a nice start, bro!"

When he glanced at Caroline's drawing, he guffawed. "What is that!?" he asked.

Caroline pouted. "What do you think—?"

"Jesus! It looks like a blob..." Alex roared in laughter making fun of her artistic skill.

Caroline rolled her eyes and glared at him. "Can you paint better than me?" she challenged him.

Alex grinned. "You asked the wrong guy, lady!" he answered delightfully and winked at her.

"Help yourself!" Caroline said. "There's more canvass in the box. Go ahead, let me see how good you are!" she said smirking.

Alex grinned and went to the box and set up everything in just ten minutes.

His hands work rapidly while wearing a smile on his face.

Caroline was about to take a look at his drawing but he shooed her away.

"Oops! No Peeking, until I finished everything," he winked at her playfully.

Caroline shrugged and looked at Greg's drawing instead. "Wow...looking good!" she said, she only has high praises for his talent. Right now, he was already exhibiting a trait of a good painter, too bad, he won't be able to develop that skill further 'coz he only had a few months to live.

Greg looked at her meaningfully. "Thank you for reminding me of my passion that I almost have forgotten..." he said sadly.

"Enjoy..." Caroline patted his shoulder gently like a dear friend. Since both brothers were engrossed in their painting, she returned her attention to her canvass and tried to make a flower out of the blob.

One hour later.

After so much concentration, Caroline was able to finish drawing a simple sunflower that she copied from the tutorial book. She was smiling brightly, amused, and proud by her masterpiece!

Caroline checked out Greg's drawing of the swimming pool, he was on the process of adding finishing touches to his work, she was impressed. "Wow, you're good, Greg!" she praised his workmanship. "You have so much potential to become a famous painter!" she blabbered out.

Alex stood up and brought his masterpiece for them to asses. "Here's my work..."

Caroline gasp...

Greg smiled broadly upon seeing his older brother's drawing. "Wow! Astounding!" he said, impressed beyond words.

Caroline can only say one word. "Fantastic!"

Alex draws a beautiful garden and in the center...a couple was having a picnic...holding their babies lovingly in their arms.

"Okay, guys! Time is up. I have to report to my office. I'll go now! See you later..."

"How about your paint?" Caroline asked.

"You can have it if you want. You can bring it to your room as a decoration. Or just throw it on the trash can. Feel free to do anything with it, which is convenient for you," Alex replied, he turned around and left the pool area going back to the house.

"Just keep it and put it in your room. It's too beautiful, not worth to be in the trash bin," Greg suggested.

"Alright, I'll keep this..." Caroline smiled brightly.

They went on a break during lunchtime and continue drawing at 3:00 in the afternoon.

By 4:00, Caroline excused herself and left Greg, going to the kitchen because she's feeling hungry all of a sudden, she wanted to eat something!

When she entered the kitchen, she saw ripe and green mangoes on the table!

"Wow! That's a delicious mango!" she exclaimed salivating already.

Amelia was washing vegetable on the sink, she looked over her shoulder at Caroline. "You want to eat the ripe mango, Ma'am?" she offered.

"No, not the ripe ones. I want the green ones with soy sauce added," she grinned.

"Okay, I'll wash the mangoes and slice them for you, just wait a bit," Amelia said.

"Take your time, Amelia," Caroline replied cheerfully and sat on the chair.

A few minutes later.

Amelia began slicing the mangoes, placed them on the platter, and sprinkle a soy sauce as well.

Caroline goes to the sink and washed her hands. She went back to the chair and began eating the green mangoes without batting an eyelash.

Amelia was staring at her and commented casually. "It's so nice seeing a pregnant woman eating green mangoes..."

It took a few seconds before Amelia's words sink in Caroline's brain. She slowly looked at the woman. "Huh? What did you say, Amelia?" she asked, her heart was pounding hard in her rib cage.

"You look pregnant to me, Ma'am. I already bore five children in the province and I know how to detect a pregnant woman when I saw one. I didn't ask you because I thought you already know," Amelia said.

Caroline took a deep breath. No! She can't be pregnant! She didn't experience the same symptoms of pregnancy now when she was carrying baby Cathy in her abdomen. "I already give birth to my first child. I should be the first to know if I'm carrying a second one," she murmured absentmindedly.

Amelia smiled. "Not all pregnancy is the same. Anyways, I could be wrong. Don't worry, there's only one way to find out, Ma'am. You want me to buy you a pregnancy test kit tomorrow in the pharmacy? Because I'm going to the wet market to buy fresh fish and vegetables," she offered.

Caroline breathed deeply. "Yes, please. Can you keep this a secret between us, Amelia?" she asked.

Amelia nodded her head. "Sure, Ma'am."

"Thank you. I'll go upstairs and get the money," Caroline said and left the kitchen, bringing with her the platter of green mango. She has all intention to finish consuming it.

Caroline reached her room. She put the platter in the table and strip n.a.k.e.d and inspected her body for any signs of pregnancy. She feels sleepy and lethargic most of the time but she never vomited even once.

Dang!

Her mind was preoccupied with her dilemma, she forgot that the last time she and Mike have s.e.x.u.a.l intercourse she wasn't able to ingest any contraceptive pills to prevent pregnancy.

She caresses her tummy, it does look bigger a bit compared last month when she was still with her husband.

Just to make sure if she is indeed pregnant or not, she would need to buy a pregnancy kit. She would give Amelia the money later.

She went back to the bed and resumed eating the mango. While munching on the mango, she was pondering on what to do if she is pregnant? What she's going to do?

She can't stay in this house anymore during her pregnancy, she needs to go back to her husband's side!

If she is indeed pregnant, maybe Allison will finally allow her to return to her husband's side!

That's it!

Maybe her sudden pregnancy is the one thing that can finally free her from Allison's clutches.

She was feeling hopeful all of a sudden. She caresses her tummy and smile.
