Chapter 207 - Miss Me?

When they opened the door...

There she was...!

Allison wore a bright smile on her face with all her glory!

"Hello, guys! Miss me!?" Allison said breathlessly, grinning with amus.e.m.e.nt flashing in her eyes, she was looking jolly and relax as if she was not missing at all.

The trio was shocked.

Caroline was very much disappointed that Allison was still alive! She feels like a bucket of ice was thrown over her head. Dammit! She was soaking wet with a bitter feeling of disappointment hammering on her rib cage.

Alex and Greg's faces shifted from worry to happiness instantly!

"Where have you been, Ali!? We've been worried about you! We've been trying to find you all over the place. We feared the worst already!" Alex's exclaimed at his sister's face furiously. He can't help lashing at his sister for putting them in great distress.

They all entered the house, followed by Allison, all eyes were fixed on her.

She sat on the sofa. "Oh, come on! I just come back, don't scold me please!" Allison pouted up a storm.

They settled on the sofa...

Meanwhile, Caroline was feeling so sad and down, she wants to cry a river!

Alex was scanning his sister's body for any signs of injury or wounds. He can't find any. He felt relief washed over him, rejoicing that she was not harmed in any way. Her disappearance scared the shit out of him. Now that she was alive and breathing in the room with her, he can finally rest his worries away.

Caroline was also scanning Allison's body secretly. Dang! She was not harmed! Goodbye to all her plans and her freedom! She was starting to feel miserable inside. Why can't God just take Allison away so that she can go back quickly to her husband and family? Why? Dammit!

"What happened to you? Where have you been, sister?" Greg asked his sister, his face registered happiness as gladness washed over him.

Allison looked at them and began explaining...

"I met my best friend during high school who is already living abroad. We reminisce about our moments together, then I decided to sleep in her house. Sorry, I wasn't able to inform you guys and I chose not to answer your calls...I just want to see if you are going to miss me if I'm gone suddenly from your lives," she joked.

Alex gritted his teeth in a fit of anger. "Ali...please...do not do something wicked like this ever again!" he warned her exasperatedly. 'Well, what can he expect from his crazy sister?'

He sighed and asked. "Have you drink your medicine?"

Allison smiled and opened her clutch bag. "Here, I always bring my medicine so that I can drink it anytime and anywhere," she answered and showed her brother the bottle of prescribed medicine.

She noticed the brown envelope in the center table. "What's that—?" She picked it up and took a peek inside.

"Your missing report file that I was supposed to submit to the police station. Thankfully you arrive before I can board my car and proceed to the nearest police precinct," Alex replied.

Allison read the file and laughed hysterically like a person that has seen a compilation of funny videos. "This is cool! I'll take this with me...as my souvenir for this day!" she said, her eyes were gleaming with mischief.

Then...she looked at Caroline. "You look like you are not happy with my come back, dear?" she throws the silent woman her questioning glance.

Caroline smiled a little. "I'm glad you return safe and sound, Allison," she replied pleasantly to her.

Allison smiled back and stood up. "I'll go home now, guys. I'm sorry for giving you a false alarm. Let's just hope that this won't happen again," she said flippantly.

"Wait—have you eaten dinner already? What do you want to eat? I'll have the cook prepare you a hearty meal," Alex offered.

"Nah, no need. I had already eaten dinner at my friend's house. All I wanted to do right now is to go home," answered Allison.

"Alright, since we can't hold you anymore, you may go now. And please drive safely, Ali!" Alex reminded her.

"Okay, I will!" Allison replied.

They escorted Allison out of the house.

The trio watched as Allison boarded her car and navigated the vehicle out of the gate of the mansion. They returned to the house after the car was already out of sight.

Greg and Alex were having a serious conversation in the living room about their sister's weird behavior.

While Caroline excuses herself wanting to rest upstairs in her room.

The moment Caroline entered her room, she jumped into the bed and buried her face into the pillow. She wanted to scream in anger!

She felt so furious right now!

Dammit, why does Allison have to return alive!?

Why....! She m.o.a.ned in pain. Cursing her destiny why it won't favor her, at least this once?

Due to frustration and sadness that she can no longer regain her freedom back, she let her tears fall, soaking the bed sheet.

Thirty minutes later.

Allison finally arrived at her house and get out of the car.

Owen was jumping up and down with joy outside the house after he realizes that his Madam is alive, safe, and sound!

"Madam! I'm so glad you're alive! Where have you been, Madam? I'm so scared, thinking that you were abducted by someone!" Owen blurted out.

Allison halted on her tracks and glanced at her minion rolling her eyes. "Indeed...how did you know?"

Owen's eyes widened in anticipation. "Oh...so I'm right all along, Madam?" he winked at her conspiratorially.

"Secret!" Allison replied with a smirk and proceed to enter the living room.

Owen was following her with excitement. "Madam, spill the beans please...I'm dying to know everything!" he begged.

Allison burst into a peal of laughter. "Laters..." she replied.

"Do you want a back massage, Madam? Do you want the cook to prepare your favorite dishes?" Owen offered energetically.

"Okay, tell the cook to cook my favorite dishes. We will have a feast...I'm kind of feeling hungry all of a sudden," she responded.

"Alright, Madam. I'll go to the kitchen and inform the cook to prepare your favorite dishes," said Owen excitedly.

Allison proceed to her bedroom and went straight to the bathroom to soak herself in the bathtub.

Whew! It's been a long day!

She lacked sleep and she needs to clean herself thoroughly.

Right now, she doesn't want to remember what happened after she loses consciousness.

The fear she felt is real, raw, and paralyzed her the moment darkness took over her whole being, she thought that was her last night on earth.

She was shaking her head trying to clear the fog forming inside her brain.

The water was now filling the tub, she poured a hefty amount of the perfumed scented liquid bath soap in the water and breathe the aromatic scent of the bath soap.

She discarded her clothes and slipped into the bathtub and closed her eyes, savoring every minute of her vibrant invigorating bath.

Back in Alex's mansion.

Alex and Greg were having a serious conversation regarding their sibling's odd behavior, besides the pool.

"Do you think, Allison was telling us the truth?" Alex asked his younger brother.

Greg was silent for a moment and shrugged. "I dunno...but we found no trace of injury on her body and her car was shiny as ever, no scratch anywhere on its glossy exterior. Which means, she didn't encounter any accident on the road or she was abducted or something..."

Alex nods his head. "She could be telling the truth. I was about to ask the phone number of her friend to confirm her story but I'm sure she won't give it to me. But since you two are close, why don't you ask the address of her friend so that I can investigate her sudden disappearance behind her back. I just want to make sure that she's telling the truth and didn't fool us with nonsense stories."

Greg eyed his brother. "So...you were having doubts?" he asked for confirmation.

Alex sighed heavily. "We are her family. We only want what's best for her. I feel like... she's hiding something from us. Something... that she's not willing to tell us. Whatever it is, I want to uncover the truth!"

Greg shakes his head. "Okay, I will try to ask her about her friend when she comes back here to visit us," he agreed.

"Good, do that for me, bro! I'm relying on you when it comes to that matter," said Alex. He was thinking about the relationship between Allison and Caroline. Until now, both women haven't revealed to him the real reason why Caroline abandoned her husband and stay with them. That alone is a big mystery that the two women were hiding from him all this time.

Silence took over and engulfed the brothers.

They fixed their attention to the sparkling water that glistened while being struck by the golden glow of the full moon above.

Inside the house.

Upstairs, in Caroline's bedroom.

She was lying on the bed holding her tablet in her hands while watching the video and photos of her honeymoon with Mike in EL Nido Palawan.

Those were one of the happiest moments in her life. It's a five-day honeymoon filled with happiness and romantic moments in a secluded paradise with her husband. A sweet smile appeared on her lips.

She was depressed earlier after Allison came back alive...she can't help but cry her hearts out because her destiny refused to cooperate with her even if she was begging for it with all her might.

But now, while gazing at the photographs, she was transported back in time to those momentous happy occasions with her husband.

She switched gallery and watched the video of her civil wedding in the municipal hall in front of the judge who officiated their union, and the grand wedding reception after.

She can't help but shed fresh tears as they began to roll down her cheeks.

She sleeps through the night, alternating between watching the lively photos and crying.
