Chapter 259 - § PROOF §

CHAPTER 006

Yanarym assumed it was finally over. The crowd was silent and the main leads were too dumbfounded to think of another thing to say. None was able to talk back, solely peering at her with intimidating eyes. Well, they could glare all they want but she would not be scared of any of them. She'd been worse than this. Although, she was not expecting to have an entertaining welcome greeting as soon as she arrived. Now that she was at it, every world she had been to gave her a pretty vicious way of honoring her arrival. Isn't that right, Guide-sama?

Guide-sama: "I will do my best next time."

"You're all talk! You don't even have evidence!" The girl from earlier shouted, Yanarym veered her attention to her.

I guess this girl has not learned the lesson yet. I thought I could finally have some rest! I'm so tired…

"This is so dumb." She gave each one of them a contemptuous look as if she was talking to a bunch of idiots before rolling her eyes. She kept her cool and stared at them intimidatingly. "Why are you asking me for the evidence? I don't have it, I'm not cursed. As so as she," Yanarym fixed her eyes to Tiana and everyone followed her sight. "She can't prove that she is an azkin because she is not. Simple as that, why are you making it complicated?"

"You know that she can only prove that if she stepped out of town! She will die! Aren't you heartless?!"

"That's right, why are you attacking Tiana's weakness? If you want attention, beg your witch mother!"

"Stop playing victim, Yanarym! You keep on saying that you are being cornered by us but you talk all the nonsense!"

"Yes! That's right! You speak so carelessly but you're the one who attacked Tiana with a crystal ball first! You're so vile!"

"She will die if she tries to prove to us that she is an azkin! Do you want to hurt Tiana because of measly jealousy? Don't be so immature!" She was wrong, it was not just the girl who hadn't figured it out yet. Everyone had not realized it. You can't win against me, she ran her fingers through her hair. Even with you all combined, the final word is mine. Why can't you all just shut it and give it a rest?

The req was cooling Yanarym's head, she was trying to act angry—did not intend to become furious in actuality by exchanging words with these people. She may not have lived the original's life for all these years and did not interact with them by personal experience. However, the situation was infuriating.

Yanarym sighed and massaged her temples, the buzzing voices were too loud. "Listen, morons," she uttered, she was irritated. Not only the main characters but the extras were a nuisance. "Azkins have birthmarks inside their mouths that will turn into a flesh wound every hundredth day for five days. It was given by Matteo, the goddess' eldest brother. During those five days, cursed people would suffer from severe discomfort every time they ate. It was a reminder that our ancestors committed vicious deeds through their mouths by eating the goddess." Her eyes did not depart from Tiana, "have any of you seen this fraud suffer from something like that? You haven't, have you?"

Tiana was panic-stricken, she trembled each word that Yanarym would spout. Each claim was nothing but facts. Her secret was getting exposed, and she could feel eyes that were starting to indict her as if she was the most sickening person who existed.

"Their blood will become limpid when the holy water from the mountain of the Empire is mixed with it. It was bestowed by her second brother, Attan; proof that they carry the blood of an azkin. Why don't we test it right now, if you don't mind?" The crowd remained silent. "You don't want to? It's not that hard… oh! The third brother, Gilo, also made them grow their hair back in the blink of an eye whenever it was cut." She could see Tiana getting anxious, desperate to deter her. "You can cut an inch to prove my claim. That's easier than going to the laboratory and asking for the holy water, right?" No one answered, whenever she would stroll her eyes they would evade eye contact. "Why are you so quiet? You do want proof, don't you? I'm giving you an idea of how to attain that proof. And if you are asking why would the curse include growing the back—it doesn't sound so horrible to become a curse blah-blah-blah. I will answer that,"

"Because Azkin used to love her long hair very much. Gilo did that to the cursed people, believing that his sister was still living inside one of them. There, do you need more? You don't? We should try cutting her hair first!" Yanarym ruefully smiled, "You're all willing to believe her just because she said so. That's so dumb, isn't it?" She peered at the girl who was rebutting her, that girl lost her tongue to reply. That's good, put your tail behind your legs. She assessed in her mind with a mental smirk because of the accomplishment of quelling these bugs.

"I-I…" Tiana interrupted Yanarym. "I am not a pureblood... M-My father did not come from this town, so the azkin blood in my body is too weak to give you the results you wanted from doing those things. It will never be the same as the results you'd get with pure blood azkins."

"Hey, pea-brain. You certainly are something," Yanarym muttered, eyeing her in disbelief. "You're so desperate making everyone believe you are someone that you're not. Don't get ahead of yourself, thinking you could outsmart me." Tiana's eyes staggered in anxiety, she wanted to interrupt Yanarym to prevent her from spewing any more words but her body was stunned. She can't move. "If what you are telling us is true, then the punishment you'd get from leaving town would be not as severe as anyone assumes. You won't die from stepping on the boundary." She uttered in dismay and glanced at Tiana. "But let me tell you this. There is no such thing as half-blood or pureblood. As long as you were born in this town, you will receive the curse as it is."

Tiana clenched both her hands into fists. She was incessantly being harassed by the likes of Yanarym, she couldn't stand it anymore. Her tears streamed down her cheeks. She couldn't think of anything to say against her, especially now that Yanarym had already exposed her and kept on attacking her with facts.

What is wrong with this woman? Tiana grumbled in her head. Why are you ruining my perfect life all of a sudden?! I showed you pity and this is what I received in return, derogation?! No! I won't let you destroy my life! She lost her cool, charged in Yanarym's direction but Kraig abruptly ceased her by grabbing her arm.

"How… How did you—? J-JUST WHO ARE YOU TO KNOW THAT?! YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE PROOF!" She tried to break free from Kraig but she was too weak against him. Kraig watched Yanarym behave so relaxed and unperturbed about everything that was happening. The latter casually floated her way towards Tiana's direction and leaned in front of her face.

"What did I just tell you? I gave you three ways to verify my claim, you're not an azkin, just a pea-brain. And as a piece of advice, I think you should study more, especially when you need to lie this much. You could at least do some research if you wouldn't want to get caught. Am I right? Right."

"SHUT UP! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOUR NONSENSE ANYMORE!" Tiana screamed hysterically. "And stop calling me that! Do you think everyone will believe you?! YOU'RE JUST JEALOUS OF ME BECAUSE I HAVE EVERYTHING YOU DON'T HAVE!"

"Don't you have anything else to say?" Yanarym asked uninterestedly. "Pea-brain, I admit I'm not a good person. Still, all of you know I have ranked first in this academy ever since the beginning so I may have done things that could've hurt your ego, but I would never tell such lies." Yanarym grinned at her unconvincingly. "I've never said this to anyone before, but your stupidity irritates me too." Triumphal with her final statement, she drifted away from the crowd.

The rest of the students were left speechless and confused about what just had happened.

Unable to stay speechless with her humiliation, Tiana roared, "YOU ARE JUST DESPERATE FOR ATTENTION! YOU'RE SO ENVIOUS OF ME! STOP DISPARAGING MY NAME! I AM NOT LYING! I DID NOT LIE!" Yanarym snickered at the pathetic female lead rebuttal and did not look back.

This is so satisfying. It felt so refreshing to get on someone else's nerves, particularly someone who had merely become her enemy.. She couldn't even remember the last time she was triggered because of such a ridiculous reason.
