Chapter 389 - 389 Second Guardian

Name:Unknown Prey Author:Shirokitsune
Rex placed the second cigar down and patted his shoulder. "It is okay. I will do what is needed." He left the house and was at the entrance of the cave. This was where he saw his student but as much as he wanted to talk to her he has a job to do.

Ketan had drained the second last animal and was slightly going mad from the amount of blood and essence he was losing. "Rex, how much longer?" Ketan held out his hand and sighed a little when he saw that vial. "Thank goodness."

"Yes, he agreed but it might also be part of the fact that he was almost killed." Rex popped the cork off the vial and poured the contents into Ketan's mouth. He starts chanting and the black string forms. He tests the bond and sighs in relief.

Sylvie brought the last creature over and fed it to Ketan after the spell was cast. "This is the last one left. If you think you will be okay then I will let Brielle know but if you need a little more than you can drink hers but remember not to drain her."

Ketan didn't reply but shuddered at the thought of drinking her blood. "I do not think that I will need it. My body is already adjusting as it should. It is hard though. My essence is building up five times faster than normal. Rex, will I need a partner to get essence from?"

Sylvie walked to Brielle who was watching from the entrance. "You can come in now."

Brielle clutches her hands together and enters the cave. "Ketan, are you okay?" As soon as she gets closer she can see that he is slightly in pain.

"That is something that we will need to wait and see about, Ketan." Rex stops her from getting too close. "I know that you are worried but you need to stay back at least a little bit. I do not want your blood on my hands, Bree."

"Teacher, you are here but you have no say in what I do and that is someone that has helped me out. You expect me to sit back here and do absolutely nothing while he is suffering?" Brielle pulls her arm away.

Kitty's mind eases and she finally stops drinking the essence. She leans against Ketan and whispers weakly, "I am sorry."

Ketan held up Kitty, "you are not at fault." He looks over his shoulder and holds out a hand to Brielle. "It will be okay, Rex. The worst is over."

Brielle runs over and takes Ketan's hand. "Are you okay? It looked like you were suffering pretty badly. I did not know if it was okay for me to be here or not but Sylvie said that I might be needed."

Sylvie went to Rex, "you know that you are going to need to give her to Ketan. They have a connection that is going well. I did not think it would be okay myself but after some thought, I realized that they need each other."

"I would worry more about yourself. Your body is starting to break down." Rex looked at Sylvie and sighed.

"We are aware that Sylvie's body is starting to deteriorate but that is part of the life that we have. I already told her that if she fades I would follow her. I will not live without her by my side. My love until the end of our time together." Emerson wrapped his arm around her waist.

"Take her back to the mountain, boy. I know that you have been the one porting around. She is too weak. Let her recover and not worry about Kitten. I will keep track of her and the trouble maker." Rex stopped looking at those in the middle of the room and looked at Sylvie and Emerson.

"We will take our leaves then." Emerson wrapped his arm around her waist and took her back to their house.

Brielle throws her arms around Ketan's neck. "I was so worried about you. I did not know what you were going to do or if you would survive."

Ketan smiled and accepted her hug. "I am sorry for worrying you. I had to do what needed to be done. Besides, I knew that this was going to happen and be as painful as it was."

Kitty weakly opened her eyes. "You sur-vived."

Rex walked over, "Kitten, I will take you to your hideout and let these two talk everything over." He saw her nod and bent down to pick her up. "Bree you missed the memo but Kitten is my granddaughter." Rex turned and disappeared from their sights. He laid her down on the bed and grabbed a cloth and wet it from the waterfall and placed it on her forehead. "You will feel better after you get some sleep."

"Ok-ay. I will try." Kitty looked at him weakly before closing her eyes, "I di-dn't kill any-one did I?"

"Kitten, everyone you care about is alive and well. Leo will recover and Ketan is in pain but he will survive so there is nothing to worry about. Now rest your eyes. I will go check on Leo and make sure that he is still relaxing in bed." Rex disappeared and appeared in front of the bed. "Leo, are you alive on the bed?"

"I'm fine now. It only felt like my body was breaking apart. I want to know is Kitsune, okay?" Leo opened his eyes and stared at, Rex.

Rex sat on the bed and looked Leo in the eyes, "you saved her. By allowing Ketan to become her second guardian everyone survived. I know that you were worried about her and what would happen. It was a very painful process for everyone involved. I am sure that Ketan felt like he was going to die. If it was not for the fact that Sylvie kept feeding him the beasts no one would've survived."

"I am glad that everyone is doing well. I was worried that she would lose her mind and kill someone that she did not mean to kill. I know that would eat away at her soul. Can you explain what happened and where she is?" Leo was breathing normally now.
