Chapter 386 - Last Requirement (Checks and Christina BG, Can Skip)

There was no such thing as summer breaks in the assassin school. Everyday was a pattern. There was nothing that could make them break the blanket that had already been laid down for them. The only occasions that were celebrated were their graduations. Even that was not that much of a celebration. They get a very nice meal for one night, then they would be transported to their new home.

It was like nothing else happened the day before. Christina and Checks immediately started with the new training program. All of their seniors gave them a hard time. They were much advanced and were ruthless in the ring.

The ring had been their finish line when they were in the second level. Now they had to face it everyday. Since Jaws would be with the children in the morning, early teens in the afternoon, then he would be with the teens for the rest of the day.

Mornings and afternoons were filled with workout and lessons. On some days, after breakfast they would be starting with the weapons already. By the time that they reached lunch, they would already be too spent.

But the last level of this school was meant for you to break your own limits. Everyday, their bodies adjusted to their new schedule and hardsh.i.p.s. They barely slept! Christina did not know whether or not she should be thankful to what was happening in her surroundings. But she felt that she was adjusting to it really well.

Some nights, she felt like she might just die because of exhaustion. There were times that she closed her eyes and thought that she would never open them again. But there she was every morning at breakfast, complaining to Checks about what part of her body was still aching from the day before's training.

Every night, she and Checks still met in an open area and train with each other. This setup went on for a few more years in this school. They grew and matured in front of each other.

There were about twenty students who were in the same batch as them, but by the time that the trainings ended, they were cut down by half. Some died along the way. The body was capable of a lot of things, but not everyone had the same tolerance. It was not perfect. Bodies gave up. People died in their sleep. People had diseases.

"We're nearing graduation yet again," said Jaws to them in the middle of the training room. They were all staring at the same gray wall that they see everyday. "You all know what's the last requirement. I don't have to explain things to you. I have already equipped you with everything that you could possibly need. I don't need a how. I don't need a why. Just get that job done."

They were each handed a folder with a certain person in it. When Christina read hers, she found that the man was a businessman. The how was not listed. They were not interested in that. Their eyes would drift at the bottom of the page where there were numbers with commas in them. It was the bounty.

It was their chance to get their first paycheck after living for free in the majority of their lives. It was a passage of life. It was a turning point from being a child to being a responsible a.d.u.l.t.

"Can you do it?" Checks asked her.

"Is that even a question?" she returned to him and put the folder under her arm as they walked out of the room. She knew that he would ask to see hers.

He would offer ideas on how to be able to trap the target. Without a doubt, he would offer an idea that would require her to be kilometers away from her target.

She lifted her head high up in the air so he would know that she was not interested with hearing his suggestions. But it seemed like he was panicking more than enough to be able to think about her emotions.

"You should let me see your target."

"No," she replied. "I'm not going to entertain your sentiments this time. Let me do this on my own."

He bowed his head. She thought he looked hurt but upon a closer inspection, it was disappointment.

"I'll let you know how it'll go," she told him. "Don't worry, I'll tell you all the details. I know you like the gory ones."

The corners of Checks' lips turned upwards although his eyes looked a little sad. "Of course. I'll be waiting."

Christina left for her room and started conceptualizing.

When she made research about the location on where the assassination should happen, Christina cursed in her head. The man lived on a fancy condominium and close to one of the top floors. She even cursed Jaws.

There was another building of the condominium, one that would give her a view of the room of the target. They wanted her to do a shooting. Clean and fast.

But it was not the thing that she wanted to do. She wanted to get in there, trample someone, and kill them.

Doing the shooting would be the obvious choice. It was the practical choice and assassins should always take this option. "Kill and flee" was not something that was hard to remember.

But Christina was hardheaded. She didn't want to be controlled. She wanted to surpass her own limits so when the day that she was going to kill the businessman, she took more than she was supposed to from the supplies office. She got so much weird looks but she ignored it.

She had far more important things to think about.

One of them was how she was going to r.a.p.el a 50-floor building.

Checks just wanted to make sure that she was alright and that she would succeed.

But when he got to the location where she should be, she was not there.
