Chapter 107 - Where The Bad Naming Sense Came From.

Hecathe had somehow managed to catch the girl by surprise through that question and she gulped as she shook her head.

LeiLei suddenly grabbed Hecathe's hand as she spoke and although Hecathe didn't show it on his face, he had certainly noticed this small action and found it a bit abnormal, "I don't know but if I remember it right, they hated my real name."

"So they changed it into a dog's name...?!" Hecathe asked in disbelief as he looked at the girl.

LeiLei nodded her head as she heard this question and immediately shook her head as if she wasn't supposed to nod her head.

"I really don't mind it...!" The girl exclaimed softly.

"You don't mind having the name of a dog?" Hecathe's eyes narrowed down on the girl as he questioned.

LeiLei hesitantly nodded her head this time as she mustered up a smile and spoke, "I have grown accustomed to it. It's really not a bad name."

"..."

Even the Dorgon looked as if he felt pity for this girl and commented with a sigh, "That explains her horrible naming sense. Can't really expect her to give me a better name than Eggy when her own name is LeiLei."

Hecathe frowned as he looked at the girl and wondered why those two would hate her original name.

The girl had a really unique ability and everything that Hecathe had heard about her till now somehow didn't seem to make any sense.

In this world, abilities were considered to be the social footing.

If one had a common ability that was not powerful, they would be considered as the common people. If one had a powerful ability that was common, they would be considered as the elites who were treated better than the common people. And if someone had a rare strong ability, they would even be considered as the next leaders of this world.

This was also the reason why people looked up to Alphius when he was at the peak of his popularity and was just starting off. Later on, they realized that having a leader like Alphius might not be the best for them and so, they started to fear the man instead. What started as fear, due to the widespread rumors and misunderstandings, eventually turned into disgust and hatred.

Hecathe almost found it a bit funny that abilities were considered to be the power in this world when in reality, their abilities were not even as powerful as their words.

Words held a lot of power and this was a lesson that Hecathe had learned even before he was invited to this world.

Thoughts were powerful and words that gave those thoughts a chance to be heard were even more powerful. It was a power that most human beings were born with and maybe that was the reason why people never thought about how powerful their words could be.

In the end, Alphius who was considered to be a bit too powerful was also killed by his own friend because of words spoken by someone who knew how much influence his own words held.

"What are you thinking so deeply about?" The girl let go of Hecathe's hand and leaned in closer to the man as she questioned and this managed to snap the man out of his thoughts.

"Huh?" Hecathe shook his head as he shrugged it off, "I was just wondering who that bastard was."

"Bastard...?" LeiLei repeated and looked to be interested as she asked, "Are you after someone?"

Hecathe nodded his head with a sigh as he spoke, "Didn't I already tell you? I'm currently after a whale and you're also here because of him."

LeiLei gulped as she heard this and nodded her head in understanding.

"Master, you're after a whale?" The Dorgon sounded even more enthusiastic than the girl as he questioned, "Whales are my favorite! They are big and delicious!"

Hecathe didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he heard this.

"Have you even eaten a whale?" Hecathe rubbed his forehead in disbelief as he questioned.

Dorgon, "..."

"Eh?" The girl tilted her head in confusion as Hecathe's question was the only thing she could hear, however, Heathe didn't need to explain himself this time as LeiLei figured it out for herself and looked at the Dorgon.

"In any case, you might not like eating this specific whale," Hecathe added with a sigh and the Dorgon suddenly looked to be dejected.

"Sir, I've been meaning to say this but is this your ability?" LeiLei leaned in forward enthusiastically as she questioned.

"What do you mean?" Hecathe asked as he met her eyes.

"Your ability is to talk to animals, is it not?" The girl tilted her head innocently as she asked and Hecathe almost choked on empty air as he heard this.

"Do you think I'm some kind of a Disney princess?! Of course, not," Hecathe scoffed as he made himself clear.

The girl frowned in turn and questioned, "What's a Disney princess?"

"..."

Hecathe thought he had gotten used to this new world but it seemed that there were some things that he would never be able to get used to.

"It's nothing," Hecathe sighed as he shook his head and decided to shrug it off.

"Then what's your ability, Sir?" The girl questioned enthusiastically.

The Dorgon also looked at Hecathe with great interest as he heard this question and it seemed that he was also unaware of Hecathe's abilities.

Hecathe thought about it for a minute before he leaned in forward and grabbed LeiLei's hands smoothly, squeezing them softly as the girl suddenly blinked in surprise when she saw the man's face come so close to hers.

Blood seemed to have rushed up to her face and her cheeks turned red as she waited for the man to say something.

"I have a lot of abilities and it seems that catching thieves is one of them."

LeiLei gulped as she heard this and when she looked down at her hands, she found that the ring she was trying to steal from the man had already been taken back by Hecathe.

The Dorgon also looked to be surprised as he saw this and he was quick to accuse the girl, "Such a liar and cheat! She's trying to rob you, Master! Shall I kill her for you?"

Hecathe chuckled softly as he put the ring back on his finger, "This is why I didn't trust you."

"..."

LeiLei's eyes widened ever so slightly and she looked as if she was both embarrassed and a bit afraid of the man now.

Hecathe rested his chin on his palm that was propelled up from his elbow. With a sigh, he spoke, "You seem as if you're weak. Innocent and fragile. Someone who has powerful abilities but doesn't realize it herself."

LeiLei gulped as she heard this and the girl couldn't understand what Hecathe was trying to say by narrating all this.

"You give people the feeling that you're easy to manipulate, and I have a feeling that you're doing it on purpose," Hecathe smirked as he added and LeiLei seemed to have flinched as she heard this.

"Why don't you show me your real personality?" Hecathe questioned innocently with his deep voice that sounded rather calm and soothing to the ear.

However, the girl certainly didn't feel calm as she heard the man ask her such a question.

"W-what do you... mean?" She stammered.

"You know exactly what I mean," Hecathe responded without missing a beat, "The landlady didn't tell you to wait in my room, did she?"

"..."

"You asked her if she could let you enter my room," Hecathe immediately accused her with a smile that didn't look to be dangerous at all, "Did you tell her that I was the one who sent you here?"

It hadn't been that long since Hecathe had known the Landlady but it had still been more than a week and if there was one thing that Hecathe had figured out about the woman, it would be the fact that she would never turn down money coming her way.

LeiLei shook her head as she opened her mouth to deny it, but Hecathe didn't look like he was patient enough to listen to her.

"Want to know what gave you away?" Hecathe tilted his head slightly as he asked and it was now clear to the girl that it was too late to defend herself since this man had already confirmed it in his mind.

LeiLei stayed silent and Hecathe who had expected this, chuckled as he continued even without her response, "You said something wrong. 'She wasn't looking to take in another charity case' Is what you said, but she would never say that."

LeiLei's eyebrows creased together in confusing as she heard this and she straightened her shoulders and back as she asked, "She said you hadn't paid your rent yet."

Hecathe nodded his head as he heard this and explained, "But I'm not a charity case because what I offered her wasn't money, it was something much more valuable."

"What the f*ck...?!" LeiLei's face cringed up as she heard this and it seemed that her entire demeanor had changed within just a few seconds, making Hecathe feel a bit surprised.
