Chapter 106 - The Witch Likes You

"Then why the hell are you still laughing?" The girl questioned, looking to be quite frustrated.

"I'm sorry," Hecathe apologized but continued laughing, "I'll stop."

"..."

The man had surely said he would stop laughing but he was certainly taking his own sweet time and the girl didn't look to be impressed with this.

The girl rolled her eyes as she sat down on the floor, facing Hecathe, and patiently waited for the man to completely calm down.

Once Hecathe had managed to stop laughing, he straightened his back and coughed awkwardly before getting serious as he questioned, "Were you able to rent another room?"

The girl shook her head as she heard this question and replied, "The Landlady said there was no need for that."

"No need?" Hecathe frowned as he repeated and waited for her to continue.

She nodded her head as she added, "The Landlady said it would be alright for me to live with you."

Hecathe couldn't help but be a little shocked as he heard this.

For the landlady to say something like that... Did she not want to earn profit anymore...?!

"She said I looked too poor to pay the rent and she wasn't looking to take in another charity case," The girl added with a chuckle and Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin line as he suddenly understood why the Landlady had refused to give this girl a room.

"Did you not give her the money?" Hecathe asked and the girl scratched the back of her neck as she avoided eye contact and muttered a response.

"She never asked for it..."

"...."

Hecathe sighed as he heard this and looked around before picking up a pillow and handing it over to the girl, "You can sleep here for tonight but you better get another room by tomorrow."

Her eyes immediately seemed to be sparkling as she looked at the man and enthusiastically nodded her head.

"Thank you, sir!"

Hecathe nodded his head and didn't bother saying anything more as he sighed and took out Alphius's dairy from his suitcase.

The girl kept on observing the man's actions without daring to move away from her spot and at first, Hecathe didn't seem to have noticed it, however, when he did, he couldn't help but frown as he looked back at the girl.

"What is it?" Hecathe asked and the girl gulped as she shook her head.

"It's nothing."

"Then why are you looking at me?" Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he questioned.

"Sir, weren't you going to tell me what my job would be?"

"Oh, that..." Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin line as he shrugged his shoulder and responded, "We can do that tomorrow. You must be tired so you should rest a little."

Her eyes widened as she heard the latter part and once again, she kept her eyes on Hecathe with an indecipherable expression on her face.

Hecathe started writing down in the diary and once again, didn't notice that the girl was still staring at him.

"Master, where did you get this witch from?" The Dorgon immediately interrupted Hecathe as he questioned.

"A gambling den," Hecathe responded without caring about it too much.

"Eh...?" The girl couldn't hear nor understand the Dorgon so she looked to be confused as she suddenly heard Hecathe speaking to himself.

"It's nothing. I'm talking to the overgrown lizard," Hecathe shrugged his shoulder as he continued to pay attention to what he wrote in the diary.

"Ah..." The girl nodded in understanding and didn't bother saying anything more as she simply sat there staring at Hecathe.

"Master, I think this witch likes you."

Hecathe almost choked on empty air as he heard this comment from the Dorgon and the girl flinched a little in surprise as she saw Hecathe suddenly stopping.

"What happened, Sir?" She asked in worry as she leaned forward.

Hecathe coughed and shook his head in disbelief as he replied, shrugging it off as something unimportant, "It's nothing. Just the overgrown lizard talking nonsense."

"Master, I'm being honest here!" The Dorgon immediately tried to defend himself but Hecathe naturally ignored him.

"Sir, Doesn't your pet have a name...?" The girl asked curiously and her whole face looked to be bright as if she was happy with just talking about the creature.

Hecathe tilted his head and looked at her with profound meaning as he heard this. In the very next moment, the man questioned, "Do you really think this overgrown lizard is cute?"

The girl bobbed her head up and down as she heard this, "I do! He's really lively and cute! A little shy as well!~"

Hecathe chuckled softly as he heard this and nodded his head as he spoke, "He's certainly shy."

"I'm not shy!! Master, how can you betray me like this?! Tell her that I hate her! Tell her to stay away or I really might eat her!" The Dorgon immediately complained.

"Do you want to pet him?" Hecathe asked with a small smirk as he did the opposite of what the Dorgon asked him to do, "He says that he likes you a lot."

The girl nodded her head with delight as she heard this and asked excitedly, "Can I really?!~"

"He doesn't have a name so you are free to call him whatever you like," Hecathe stood up from the bed and looked under it before forcefully pulling out the uninterested Dorgon who seemed to be depressed over the fact that he had been betrayed by his own master.

"What do you usually call him?" The girl asked as she tilted her head with a smile.

"Hmm..." Hecathe looked at the Dorgon and thought about it for a minute before he honestly responded, "I call him egg."

"..."

Both the Dorgon and the girl seemed to have fallen speechless as they heard the man.

"Are you being serious?" The girl asked as she blinked in confusion and Hecathe nodded his head as he confirmed it.

"When I bought him, he was still inside his egg so I just call him that since I don't feel like giving him a good name."

"Wow..." The girl looked to be in awe but Hecathe was unsure if she was impressed or disappointed at him.

"In that case..." She muttered as she thought about it for a few minutes, "Let's call him eggy!~"

"Pfft-" Hecathe couldn't help but laugh a little as he suddenly heard this suggestion.

"Master, I hate her... I really hate her!" The Dorgon continued to cry out and Hecathe also continued to ignore his cries, "The great emperor can never have such a lowly name! What does she think I am?! A Dog?! A bird?!"

Hecathe, "Then let us have it your way."

The girl giggled as she heard this and without any sense of fear or hesitation, she raised her hand and pet the Dorgon that was growling at her.

"Look! Look! Eggy is trying to show me his growing teeth!~" The girl excitedly exclaimed and Hecathe didn't know why but he found it funny that the girl took the Dorgon's actions as a good sign.

"Master, she has a few screws loose in her head..."

When Hecathe heard this, he nodded his head and chuckled as he agreed to the Dorgon but didn't bother commenting further on it.

Any sane human would be able to realize that an animal would only growl and show its teeth if it wanted to have a fight with you.

Humans were perhaps the only ones who showed their teeth and smiled as a good gesture.

Since Hecathe was sitting right there, the Dorgon dare not bite the girl and so Hecathe could go back to doing his job.

However, he was once again interrupted by the girl, "Sir, what are you doing?"

"Me?" Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin smile as he shook his head and spoke, "I'm trying to leave evidence behind."

"Evidence...?" The girl titled her head and blinked confusion as she tried to understand what the man was saying.

Hecathe nodded his head as he spoke, "You won't be able to understand it so why bother asking?"

The girl pouted as she heard this but in the end, she could still not force Hecathe to say anything and as a result, she ended up nodding her head in understanding.

"Oh yeah, I think I forgot to ask you this before," Hecathe suddenly remembered something as he asked, "What's your name?"

The girl's lips curled up into a small smile as she heard this question that she seemed to be waiting to hear, "I thought you were never going to ask."

"I bet this witch has a really ugly name," The Dorgon scoffed and Hecathe ignored him.

"My name is Leilei."

"That's your original name?" Hecathe asked with a bit of surprise and the girl immediately shook her head.

"I don't remember my original name. The two old men who raised me were the ones who gave me this name," The girl spoke with a smile.

Hecathe's pupils seemed to have contracted as he heard this and he clicked his tongue as he asked, "Why didn't they let you keep your real name?"
