Chapter 108 - I Don't Trust You.

Hecathe couldn't help but want to laugh as he saw this sudden change.

"Master, that's it! This is the witch that scares me!" The Dorgon immediately spoke up as he complained and hid behind Hecathe once again.

Hecathe chuckled as he nodded his head.

He should have already expected this.

There was no way the Dorgon would be afraid of someone as sweet as the person LeiLei claimed to be.

"Then, have you been f*cking playing with me till now?" The girl questioned and sounded pretty pissed off which made Hecathe question if he should be the one angrier or her.

"What the hell are you trying to prove?" She clicked her tongue as she questioned in annoyance.

The innocence on her face was now nowhere to be seen as if it had simply vanished without even leaving behind a trace.

Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin line and was silent for a whole minute before he finally chuckled as a response and commented, "I like this version better."

"..."

"You pretending to be innocent was really getting me annoyed," Hecathe spoke honestly as he looked at the girl, "It's better for you to be more honest."

"Then let me be honest," LeiLei scoffed as she replied, "I don't trust you."

"I know that," Hecathe shrugged his shoulders as he simply responded.

"Then why am I here?"

"Because I have a job for you."

"To catch someone who wronged you?"

Hecathe nodded his head as he heard this question and confirmed, "To catch someone who wronged someone innocent."

"I'm willing to pay you for working with me so I don't think there should be any need for you to steal something as insignificant as this ring," Hecathe added with a small smile.

LeiLei coughed as she heard this and avoided eye contact as she muttered a response, "I wasn't meaning to."

"Eh?" Hecathe blinked in surprise as he tried to understand what she was meaning to say.

"It can't be helped," LeiLei added as she pursed her lips into a thin smile.

Hecathe's eyes narrowed down on the girl as he heard this, "Could it be... Kleptomania...?"

LeiLei nodded her head as she heard this and confirmed it as she stated, "I have a habit of stealing and it can't be helped."

This was certainly the first time Hecathe was meeting someone with such a problem, but when he looked at the girl, he could sense that she was not lying this time.

She really was suffering from such a mental disorder and considering the environment that she was raised in, this was to be expected.

Hecathe sighed as he rubbed his forehead and spoke, "In that case, I guess it can't be helped."

"Huh?" LeiLei's eyes widened ever so slightly in surprise as she heard the man.

"Just makes sure that you don't steal anything too important," Hecathe added as he looked at the girl, "And if it's in front of others, try to keep that innocent act up, but don't bother pretending like that in front of me."

"You're... not mad?" The girl asked with a bit of shock.

Hecathe frowned as he heard this and questioned, "Why would I be mad?"

"..."

"Your Kleptomania is not something I can solve and I have no idea why you try to keep up that innocent persona, however, it has nothing to do with me and it is quite useful in some cases so I have no problem with it."

LeiLei looked to be conflicted as she heard this and the girl dare not say anything to that.

Hecathe was sure that she was currently wondering whether he was an idiot or not and the man chuckled as he added, "As long as you do your job correctly, I can ignore everything else."

LeiLei's pupils seemed to have contracted as she heard this and the girl sighed as she spoke, "You're really weird."

"I know," Hecathe nodded his head as he responded, "And I can say the same to you as well."

LeiLei had certainly never met such a person who was okay with her after knowing these two secrets and it seemed to have fascinated her how Hecathe could care no less about it.

"What are you planning on doing with the Dorgon?" LeiLei asked and it seemed as if she was testing the man.

"So you do know that it's not an overgrown lizard?" Hecathe chuckled as he asked and didn't bother waiting for her to respond as he continued, "I'm planning on raising him for now."

"I see," The girl looked behind Hecathe's back at the Dorgon as she asked, "Wouldn't it try to eat you?"

"It can't," Hecathe confidently responded without missing a beat and his confidence alone was enough to make the girl believe his words.

"Then," LeiLei took a deep breath in and closed her eyes before going back to her innocent persona as she smiled brightly and looked at the Dorgon with great interest as she exclaimed, "Can I sleep with Eggy today?~"

Hecathe blinked in surprise as he saw her once again trying to act like a cute child.

"Didn't I tell you not to act like that in front of me?" Hecathe asked with a frown.

"But Sir, it's a habit," LeiLei pouted and Hecathe would certainly be lying if he said that the girl didn't look cute at this moment.

In the end, Hecathe was forced to sigh as he agreed to the girl and let her do whatever she wanted.

LeiLei smiled happily as she saw this and immediately started chasing after the Dorgon who ran for his life.

Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin line as he wondered if he had really done the right thing by bringing this girl here.

"Master, how can you do this to me?! I'm the one you're supposed to be favoring! I'm the great emperor!! Tell her to stay away!" The Dorgon continued to shout and Hecathe simply ignored the little creature.

"They'll get along eventually," Hecathe muttered under his breath as he shook his head and got back to writing in the diary.

LeiLei was an oddball with a lot of secrets, however, Hecathe still felt as if he wasn't going to regret his decision to take her along.

Once she starts to trust him, he was sure she was going to be a powerful ally.

Just as Hecathe was thinking this, the Dorgon jumped on his head and the girl who was running after the Dorgon also jumped on him, making Hecathe fall back flat on his back with both the Dorgon and the girl on top of him.

"..."

It seemed that this place was going to be very lively because of her...

Hecathe's breath got stuck in his throat as he felt the heaviness of the two.

"Get off me..." Hecathe tried to speak with his choked-up voice.

"Master, get this witch away from me!" The Dorgon cried out, hugging Hecathe's face with all his strength.

"..."  Hecathe finally understood what it was like to raise a lion that could kill you with just a hug.

After chasing and playing for a few hours, LeiLei eventually got tired and slept on the floor, hugging the pillow that Hecathe had given her.

The Dorgon also seemed to be tired as he no longer had any energy to run away and ended up becoming the girl's headrest.

By the time Hecathe was done with his work, he looked up to see that the two were peacefully sleeping on the floor in front of the table, and for some odd reason, Hecathe smiled as he saw this.

It was much more peaceful when they were sleeping and the two were much cuter as well when they were sleeping.

Hecathe yawned as he packed everything up and took off his mask before walking over towards the girl.

He picked LeiLei up gently and placed her on the bed before he went back to pick up the Dorgon and laid him down next to the girl.

The man took the only blanket there was in the room and covered the two with it before taking out a sheet and pillow to spread it on the floor where he was planning on sleeping.

It wasn't like the bed was more comfortable to sleep on so Hecathe was okay with sleeping on the floor.

It had been a long day and there was so much that had happened. As he went to sleep, the last thought he had on his mind was about Marvin. Hecathe had thought about how he was supposed to deal with the boy and in the end, he came to the conclusion that it would be better to simply tell Marvin the truth.

If he can get Marvin to join his side then everything else was going to be a bit easier.

At the moment, Hecathe was hunting after a whale and Marvin knew exactly who that whale was.

If Hecathe could get Marvin to talk, he would no longer need to bother searching for the whale.

With this in mind, Hecathe fell asleep as soon as his head hit the soft pillow.

It seemed that he was so tired that he slept throughout the night and woke up at exactly 6 a.m.
