Chapter 105 - Heavens Are Certainly Laughing

Hecathe chuckled as he heard this ridiculous question.

Of course, he wouldn't easily forgive the boy for that!

But would he give an honest answer to that question? Certainly not!

"I forgave you a long time ago," Hecathe lied through an honest face.

Marvin looked to have stupidly believed it as he first showed a stunned expression which slowly turned into a pleased one.

"You did...? You really did?" Marvin almost looked as if he was about to shed tears of happiness and this made Hecathe's face cringe up in disgust.

Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin smile and tried his best to control his twitching eyes as he lied once again, "Of course, I did. You were also forced to shoot me. You were confused and afraid. After hearing such news about your father, it's only natural that you were mad."

Marvin gulped as he suddenly moved forward and hugged Hecathe, "Thank you so much!"

Hecathe felt the strong smell of sweat and alcohol enter his nose and it automatically made him gag in disgust.

In the very next moment, Hecathe's body reacted on its own and he pushed the boy away as he spoke, "I would prefer it if you didn't show your gratitude in such a manner. Especially when you're this drunk."

Or I might kill you by mistake next time.

Hecathe grinned and although there was no joy behind that grin, Marvin, with his half-working brain, seemed to have thought differently.

Marvin nodded his head in understanding and looked like a little child as he listened to Hecathe.

"Now let's get your ass home," Hecathe sighed as he rubbed his forehead, "Where do you live?"

Marvin gulped as he heard this and looked around before he shook his head, "I can get back on my own."

"You can?" Hecathe nodded his head and didn't even wait for a response as he spoke, "Then that would be great. I am tired and I have a pet to feed at home so let's continue this conversation tomorrow. Good night and get home safely."

Hecathe certainly sounded really enthusiastic as he tried to get rid of this boy and the boy innocently nodded his head as a response.

Hecathe didn't bother wasting any more time on this drunk boy and headed straight back to his apartment, however, for some reason, Marvin seemed to be following him.

At first, Hecathe wanted to turn around and ask the boy why he was following him, but in the end, Hecathe ended up simply sighing as he tried his best to ignore Marvin.

He thought that the boy would eventually get bored of it and finally leave Hecathe alone, but it seemed that he had miscalculated a bit.

By the time Hecathe was standing in front of the old broken apartment, Marvin was also there standing right behind him.

This boy really followed him all the way home...

Hecathe clicked his tongue as he turned around and glare at the man, "What is it? Why are you following me? As you can see, this isn't your house."

"..." Marvin blinked in confusion as he stared back at Hecathe and Hecathe's eyebrows creased together as he saw the confusion on the boy's face.

"What is it?" Hecathe asked with a frown and Marvin simply shook his head which made Hecathe wonder if this boy had hit his head somewhere after drinking so much.

"What? Are you going to tell me that you live here as well?" Hecathe scoffed as he sarcastically questioned, however, he wasn't even able to laugh at it as he saw Marvin nodding his head.

"..."

Hecathe suddenly didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry at this moment.

Was it really that impossible to escape from the hero...?!

Were the heavens really joking around with Hecathe or something?!

Marvin smiled thinly as he bowed his head politely and went inside the building first, leaving behind a speechless Hecathe who looked at the apartment in disbelief.

There were only three tenants living in this building...

One was Hecathe, the other was Zail and the third was a hunter who was said to be alike Hecathe...

Hecathe could have never guessed that he had such a surprise kept in store for him...

Both Marvin and Hecathe ended up choosing the same apartment by chance... And Hecathe was sure it was a coincidence because he knew Marvin had moved in here before Hecathe so there was no way he had chosen this particular apartment because of Hecathe and if Hecathe had already known that Marvin was living here, he would have never chosen this place...!!

The heavens were really laughing at Hecathe, weren't they?!

Hecathe sighed as he rubbed his forehead, feeling as if he was going to be having a headache pretty soon.

The man headed inside the building and went straight for his room, not remembering anything about the cardigan girl that he had hired.

However, it seemed that there was another headache waiting for him inside his room.

"Master, save me!" As soon as Hecathe opened the door, A large dog-sized Dorgon child jumped on him and almost made him fall back.

"You're freaking heavy!" Hecathe complained as he immediately dropped the Dorgon and the Dorgon scurried off towards the side before running back towards Hecathe and hiding behind him, using him as a shield.

"What the-" Hecathe was shocked and confused at the creature's odd reaction, however, when he raised his head and looked at the girl who was standing inside the room with a bright smile on her face, he immediately figured out why the Dorgon was acting like this.

"Didn't I tell you to not go into my room?" Hecathe frowned and didn't look to be amused as he questioned the girl.

The girl pouted as she heard this and tried to act innocent as she spoke, "You said that but the landlady kept insisting that I wait for you in your room."

Hecathe felt as if he should've expected something like this to happen.

"Master, you know this evil witch...?!" The Dorgon questioned and he certainly sounded terrified at the moment which made Hecathe wonder what the girl had done to him.

"Did she bully you?" Hecathe asked curiously, feeling a bit surprised at the mere thought of this little girl bullying such a creature that could kill her at any given moment.

"Sir, believe me! I did nothing wrong! I just wanted to play with your cute little pet!" The girl defended herself before the Dorgon could even say anything as a response, "But it keeps running away."

Hecathe's eyes narrowed down on the girl as he heard this and he questioned with suspicion, "You can hear him?"

"Eh?" The girl tilted her head in confusion as she heard this question and blinked a few times before shaking her head as she spoke, "I can't, but you looked as if you could."

Hecathe didn't seem to have believed the girl completely so he turned to glance at the Dorgon and questioned again, "Can she talk to you?"

"Of course, she can't! If this dumb potato could understand me, she wouldn't have been so persistent to pet the great emperor!"

"She tried to pet you?" Hecathe was even more surprised as he snapped his head back up to look at the girl.

The girl pouted as she avoided meeting Hecathe's eyes and muttered softly, "I tried to pet it because it's cute..."

This girl was really full of surprises and when Hecathe managed to hear the girl's comment, he looked down and seemed to be judging the Dorgon in his head.

How can such a thing be... Cute...?!

Was this girl really alright in the head?!

Hecathe sighed as he pushed the Dorgon inside using his leg and closed the door behind him before walking towards a table and leisurely taking off his cloak before he took a seat down on the bed and crossed his right leg over his left.

His eyes narrowed down on the girl and it seemed to have made her feel a little uneasy.

The Dorgon squeezed under the bed and hid from the girl once again, using Hecathe as a barrier to keep her away.

"Do you know what creature he is?" Hecathe questioned in suspicion and the girl gulped as she nodded her head.

"Of course, I know."

"You know?" Hecathe raised his eyebrows and looked as if he found it hard to believe her.

"Then tell me, what is he?" Hecathe asked with a small smile on his face that seemed to be teasing her.

"He's one of those overgrown old lizards!" The girl confidently exclaimed.

"..."

"Master, can I kill her?" The Dorgon questioned and this time, he seriously sounded offended and there was no more fear in his voice.

Hecathe was speechless for few minutes as he slowly let her words sink in and when he was finally over the shock, he broke out laughing.

The girl crossed her arms over each other and frowned as she saw the man laughing at her, "Why are you laughing like that? Am I wrong?"

Hecathe shook his head as he continued to laugh and spoke in between his laughter, "You're right! You're right! It is an overgrown lizard!~"

The overgrown Lizard, "..."
