Chapter 46 - 5 - Welcome to Pallet Town

Name:Pokemon Pearl Author:Marc0702
The next morning, the cruise ferry arrived and docked at a harbor south-east of Pallet Town, 6 kilometers away. Once disembarked, the family car and their moving van drive straight to Pallet Town. An hour later, they arrived there, seeing the wooden welcome sign implanted in the roadside. Rico then rolled down the car window to glance the new countryside for the first time as Litleo and Piplup dozed off in the other side. Pallet Town had been grown a bit larger than since Ash's first journey.

"Wow, this is so beautiful," he commented in amazement and enthusiasm.

"Ri-olu, Ri," Riolu responded with enthusiasm.

"Yeah, I know," Lucas brightly replied while driving, "until you will see our new house there just a few more blocks."

"Alright!" Rico responded in excitement and enthusiasm, "I can't wait to see our new house."

"Riolu!" Riolu happily responded. They then took a right turn towards the street market. And then left and right until they arrived at a newly purchased, brown, and white house. Pulling over, Rico first got out of the car with his shoulder bag and backpack and looked towards their new home. That house, however, was a big one, made of hardwood and completely hardened concrete, complete with orange-brown tiles for roofing. Other features are: Classic mahogany front door and back door, a sandstone staircase that leads to the second floor where three more rooms are located, but the staircase is located outside the house rather than inside, and a secret storage unit implanted inside the wall in one room. That house had everything like plumbing, electricity, TV cable, telephone connection, and internet connection. All are provided for the new tenants. The price for this house is half its original price, as a special discount. Lucas had been saving lots of money partially for this.

"Wow, that's...nice," Rico commented in semi-surprise, "I mean, that's a lot nice, especially the stairs outside." Getting out of the car, Lucas replied, "Yes, but don't worry. We'll install roofing and wall around that staircase so you could walk comfortably."

"Okay, dad, thanks," Rico happily responded.

Unlocking the door, they all went inside, and turned on the lights, only to see the living room, dining room, and kitchen filled with cloth-covered furniture, dusty, and a little infested with cobwebs of Galvantulas and their little Joltik children.

"Ugh, man, I have to scare those Pokémon away," Lucas commented in semi-stress. He and Rosario called out their Magneton and Sylveon, and commanded them to use Shock Wave and Fairy Wind. Their Pokémon then used Shock Wave and Fairy Wind, scaring the Galvantulas and Joltiks out of their house. This amazes Rico, with him commenting, "What? That's so cool, mom and dad. I wish I could do that."

"Well," Lucas responded while thinking, "Check your new bedroom upstairs. It might have some Pokémon infesting." Rico then nodded in agreement, carry his belongings, and went outside and straight upstairs to the second floor.

There Rico unlocked the door using a keyset and opened the door, seeing the main hallway dark. Of course, he turned the lights on, and went to his new room, opening the door and turned on the lights, only to see a Galvantula and its Joltik children.

" What the...?" Rico commented in shock, "More of them? Really?" He then called his Riolu and Piplup.

"Riolu, can you use Focus Blast on these Pokémon?" Rico commanded Riolu without any exclaiming style. Riolu nodded to say yes, and used Focus Blast on the Joltiks, inflicting them pain. This also angered the Galvantula, who then looked at Rico in fierce, causing him to flinched in fear, Riolu and Piplup then defended their trainer. And when that Galvantula is about to use Electro Ball, a Pikachu came to the rescue and used Thunderbolt on it and the Joltiks, severely electrifying them even they are also Electric-type.

"Pika! Pika! Pika!(Get out of here, you trespassers!" Pikachu exclaimed in anger and in threatening. Scared by Pikachu's electrifying threatening appearance, the Galvantula and its Joltik children fled the house in fear.

"Shoo!" Rico scolded those wild Pokémon away while holding a broom, "Get out of here!" And then to that Pikachu in calm stunning, "Is that a Pikachu?" Upon being seen, Pikachu immediately left the house in a fast pace, into the backyard, and jumped over the wooden fence to the other backyard like a kangaroo. Rico ran to the balcony of the staircase, and watched that Pikachu jumped over the fence in stunning.

"Whoa, that Pikachu was cool," he thought in stunning. At the other backyard, a kid, who had a cloth that hides his right eye, catch his Pikachu in bonding time and hugged it in embrace. That kid was none other than Ash Ketchum, the Champion of the Orange Islands and recently, the Alola region.

"Woah, who's that kid?" Rico thought in asking, "Does he own that Pokémon?" He then pointed his Pokédex towards Pikachu; but he Pokédex just responded, "No information."

"Wait, what?" Rico calmly commented in stunning upon hearing this, "No information? I think it didn't discovered it yet." Then suddenly, just as expected, Campillo called in Rico's smartphone. Upon hearing it, Rico ran back to his bedroom, grabbed it, and answered him, "Professor Campillo! Hi, good morning."

"Hi, Rico, good morning," Campillo, in the other end of the line, greeted him with mild anxiety, "I gotta tell you something."

"What?" Rico replied in puzzling.

"I forgot to upgrade your Pokédex," Campillo admitted his mistake. In uninteresting, Rico replied, "That's why I couldn't get any information about Pokémon here."

"But don't worry, you can get the upgrade at a Pokémon lab," Campillo gave him a direction, "Where are you now?"

"Pallet Town," Rico briefly and calmly answered him.

"That's perfect!" Campillo replied in sharp positivity, "Professor Oak's lab was there. Just go to his lab on a hilltop and with windmill. Okay?" Rico nodded in agreement, and ended their conversation. After that, Rico his smartphone down on a table, called Riolu and Piplup backed to their Poke Balls, grabbed his cap and shoulder bag, and went outside while putting the Poke Balls in his Pokébelt.

"Mom, dad, I'm going to a Pokémon lab to get an upgrade for my Pokédex," Rico asked his parents for permission.

"Okay, but be back immediately for arranging your stuff in our room," Rosario answered him in positivity. After hearing that response, Rico went outside to the roads through Pallet Town. This little mistake by Professor Campillo is actually a driving point for Rico to meet Ash Ketchum along the road.
