Chapter 47 - 6 - Meeting Ash Ketchum and Pikachu

Outside in the streets of Pallet Town, Rico was walking while thinking, "Where is that professor's lab. He said it's on a hilltop with a windmill. Where?" In that scenario, he worn his brother's cap, Pokébelt, and shoulder bag.

Meanwhile at a few blocks ahead, Ash and his Pikachu, on Ash's shoulder like always, are walking towards in the other direction. In that scenario, Ash worn his Kalos clothes and hat.

"So, Pikachu," Ash said to his Pikachu, "Did you help our new neighbor on setting up his new bedroom?"

"Pika, Pika, Pika!(Yes, I did!)" Pikachu responded in happiness. They noticed Rico walking towards them while thinking. Stopped walking, Ash thought, "That kid again. I seen him before. Well, perfect timing." Rico was approaching, and then Ash greeted him, "Hey, there, kid." Hearing him greeting, Rico stopped walking just a meter away from Ash, and responded with greeting, "Uh, hi?"

"Are you a new kid here?" Ash brightly asked him. His Pikachu then responded in happy asking.

"Yes, uh," Rico calmly answered, "I just moved here a few hours ago." Ash is about to walk away, when Rico quickly asked him, "W-Wait! Do you know where is Professor Oak's lab? 'Cause I need had my Pokédex upgraded;" he then showed them his Pokédex.

"Oh, I see," Ash replied in rising. Then in positivity, "Well, okay then, follow me;"he then turned around and walked away to the direction of the hill. Rico then leisurely followed him and Pikachu whilst readjusting his shoulder bag.

"Who's that kid?" Rico thought while following them, "Did he knew about that place? Is he a resident here? I think so yes. Hey, what's that cloth covering his eye? And that Pikachu, I seen it before;" he then recalled the time he saw Blue Ninja for the first time. After the flashback, Rico gasped a bit, and thought, "That's it! It matched so much." And as they go uphill, Rico is about to ask Ash a question, but he hesitated, and thought, "I think I'll ask later."

In no time, they arrived at the entrance door of Oak's lab. Professor Oak, upon seeing them through a window, then came out and greeted them, "Ah, Ash, what brings you here?" Hearing this, Rico was shocked in stunning, and thought in shock, "What? His name was Ash?" He then recalled the movie credits. After that flashback, Rico spoke out to Ash in shock, "Ash, are you the one who-?"

"Yup," Ash retorted sharply in positivity and response as he turns around, "That's me." His Pikachu then responded in serious coolness.

Rico was so shocked, so shocked in fact that he fainted in extreme shock, spilling two of his Poke Balls from its Pokébelt.

"Uh, kid, are you okay?" Ash asked him in confusion. His Pikachu then responded in asking and in confusion. And then, Riolu came out of its Poke Ball, only to see its trainer fainted; Riolu then shake him mildly and in little speed.

"Woah, is that a Riolu?" Ash asked in amazement.

"Rio?(Excuse me?)" Riolu responded upon seeing him. Ash's Pikachu then greeted it in friendliness. Riolu then responded in greeting and mildness. Getting up and scratching his head, Rico mildy responded, "Yeah, that's mine."

"Wow," Ash replied in excited interesting, "That's a rare Pokémon you have." Standing up properly, Rico replied, "Yeah, it's...it's my first Pokémon." Amazed, Ash retorted, "Wow, that's cool!"

"Thanks!" Rico happily retorted. This follows a very short silence with smiling and happiness.

"So, are you Rico Titus?" Oak asked Rico brightly.

"Uh, yes," Rico calmly replied, "Are you the professor of this region?"

"Yes, I am," Oak replied, "Your professor called me, and told me about your Pokédex."

"Oh, right," Rico replied in rising.

"Now, where's your Pokédex?" Oak asked him. Handing him his Pokédex, Ric responded, "Here you go. Can you please upgrade it?" Receiving it, Oak replied, "Thanks. Come in;" he then went back inside in his lab. Rico, Ash, Riolu, and Pikachu then come in.

Meanwhile, at a hot air balloon, a group of Pokémon thieves from an unknown criminal organization are spying at the lab using their high-tech spying equipment.

Back inside the lab, as Professor Oak plugged Rico's Pokédex into a high-tech machine. Rico looked around the lab as Ash crossed his arms in watching him in positivity. Rico and Riolu first looked at a desk full of ready-to-be-use Pokédexes and books about Pokémon; they then looked at one side at a tall machine where starter Pokémon in their Poké Balls are kept.

In enthusiasm, Rico and Riolu exchanged looks to each other. Rico then looked at Ash and Pikachu, and commented in excitement, "Wow, this is so cool, Ash."

"Riolu!(Yeah!)" Riolu happily responded.

"Yup, this is where I had my first Pokémon..." Ash replied in positivity. Then in a embarrassing state, "...which turns out to be a non-starter." Confused, Rico replied in asking, "What do you mean by that?"

"I...I got Pikachu rather than a starter Pokémon," Ash told him his beginnings.

"Pika, Pika(Yeah, he did)," Pikachu added while scratching its head a bit.

"Because he's late on the day of his first journey," Oak explained, "So he ended up with a Pikachu instead." Calming down, Rico mildly replied, "Oh, I see."

"Yeah," Oak replied. He then pressed the buŧŧon on the machine and made a typing on its keyboard, commencing the upgrade. Moments later the screen show a loading bar with the current progress slowly filling the bar. The time duration is: 2 hours.

"Well, this might take a while," Oak informed them, "How about go out for a while? Show Rico this lovely town."

"Okay, professor," Ash brightly responded.

"That'll be great, professor," Rico added in enthusiasm while raising his fist in enthusiasm. Their Pokémon then responded in enthusiasm and happiness. They all ran outside as Professor Oak wavered them goodbye. Once they're gone, one of Oak's ȧssistants came to him and asked, "Who's that kid with Ash?"

"Oh, that's Rico Titus," Oak softly and mildly answered him, "He's a Pokémon trainer from the Philas Region."

"Oh, okay," his ȧssistant replied.
