Chapter 290 Explain

At first, Lu Xiaoling didn't want to say it but when she saw her daughters gaze, she couldn't help but speak.

"By telling them that she died..."

After she said this, Lu Xiaoling expected Lu AnLing to scream at her and tell her how horrible that was. In a sense, Lu Xiaoling had allowed Zhao Qin to 'kill' Lu Yuxi. But instead, Lu AnLing remained quiet, which made Lu Xiaoling even more nervous.

Most of the Kang family didn't know that Kang Mei Xue had a twin. It was something that no one seemed to know about and Lu AnLing had always wondered why. But now, she might have gained a small insight.

Whoever had taken care of the adoption process for the Kang's must have found out that Lu Yuxi had 'died' and so, instead of telling them that they'd lost an heir, they just claimed that Kang Mei Xue was the only child.

By saying this, the Kang family would not feel any pain whatsoever.

And maybe that was why Lu AnLing herself was also said to have died...

Lu AnLing wasn't sure. She was just making assumptions but for some reason, this sounded quite plausible to her.

Thinking of this, Lu AnLing turned her head to stare at Lu Xiaoling in the eyes.

Both Lu AnLing and Kang Jun had been hurt by the revelation. They had both truly thought that their daughter had died but now, as she thought about it, it might have been for the best. If Lu Yuxi had been given to the Kang's then she would have surely been neglected and mentally scarred.

If there was anything Lu AnLing could thank her mother for, this was it.

At Kang Jun's home, Mo Ruyi looked through the paternity tests.

Looking at them, Mo Ruyi was flabbergasted.

There were many! Some were for Kang Jun and others for Lu AnLing. Most of them were done within the country but the ones which were the most important were the ones which Kang Jun had laminated. They were from France and they revealed that Kang Jun and Lu AnLing were Kang Mei Xue's parents.

Seeing this, Mo Ruyi froze.

Was this why Kang Jun loved the woman so deeply? Mo Ruyi wondered but as she looked through the files, she could see that Kang Jun's research on Lu AnLing was meticulously dated before the paternity tests.

Frowning, Mo Ruyi looked over everything once again. She didn't know why Kang Jun believed the tests in France compared to the ones from their own country so Mo Ruyi began to look through the other files. In it, she found bits and pieces of Lu AnLing's past.

Looking at these, Mo Ruyi paused. Looking at what the girl had experienced, Mo Ruyi could not help but pity her. She lived in poverty in a single parent household, her father passed away at 15, she was bullied when she lived with her mother, she became pregnant young and then she was sent to a recovery institution where she tried to kill herself.

Mo Ruyi herself had experienced a hard life after 18, but before that, she had grown up in a very stable environment... The woman could not imagine how painful Lu AnLing's life had been but if Mo Ruyi had experienced this she would be much colder than she was now, or possibly even dead.

But Lu AnLing didn't seem pessimistic at all. She seemed kind and loving instead.

As Mo Ruyi was looking at the rest of the files, Kang Jun suddenly walked into the room.

Seeing her son, Mo Ruyi said, "What's the meaning of this?"

Kang Jun sighed. "It's exactly what you're seeing."

"Son, this is practically gibberish to me. I'm not sure which tests to believe and why." Mo Ruyi said as she pinched the space between her eyebrows.

Hearing this, Kang Jun mirrored his mother's frustrations. Then he took the paternity tests from France and re handed them to her.

Kang Jun: "These ones are the correct ones. A friend of mine made sure that no mistakes were made."

With that said, Mo Ruyi believed Kang Jun without another word.

Mo Ruyi: "Then why did I head that Lu AnLing gave birth to Zhi's children?"

"When these tests are done sometimes things like this happen with siblings..." Kang Jun said simply. He did not want to tell his mother that someone had sabotaged all the hospitals around them. By saying this it would obviously insinuate that someone in the family was trying to keep him separated from his children and he didn't want his mother to feel on edge and interfere with his plans.

"That's impossible." Mo Ruyi said definitely.

"I think that for brothers there is a possibility of this happening... but I am telling you that I am Mei Xue's father." Kang Jun said.

Mo Ruyi: "I'm not saying you aren't her father, Jun. To begin with, a mistake like that in a paternity test would happen mostly with identical twins. But that's not the problem... I'm telling you that it's impossible."

Hearing this, Kang Jun frowned. The way his mother spoke was strange...

"Why?" Kang Jun asked.

Despite the fact that Kang Jun asked so softly, Mo Ruyi didn't answer him. As soon as he saw that his mother was not going to speak, Kang Jun frowned and then he spoke once more,

"Why are you so certain, mother?"

There was another pause but then, after a bit, Mo Ruyi finally spoke.

"Because you and Kang Zhi are not brothers." Mo Ruyi said softly. As if she had been keeping a life-changing secret.

Hearing this, Kang Jun did not flinch. He already knew this but he was curious how Mo Ruyi knew this so he said, "How did you know?"

Mo Ruyi: "Jun... you're not Mu's son."

As soon as Mo Ruyi's words reached Kang Jun's ears, he paused for a moment and then Kang Jun looked at his mother with sharp eyes and he said,

"Explain."

Kang Jun had known that Kang Zhi was not Kang Mu's son, but as for himself, he had always believed that he was undeniably a Kang and his father's son, but now it seemed like this was all a lie...

Seeing the confusion and anguish spread across Kang Jun's face. Mo Ruyi did not hesitate. It was the man's right to know the truth so she would tell him without regrets.
