Chapter 449 - Crossroads

Ariana stared at Loralei for her to continue but a strange aura started to seep into the room. "Xander?!" Edlyn shouted. Ariana broke her gaze with Loralei and looked over towards Edlyn's voice. She saw that Xander had doubled over and was having a hard time breathing while Edlun tried to give him comfort. "He's lapsing..." Vasu said as he stepped forward changing into his hybrid form. "I don't think so." The female voice sang as a smoky colour encased Xander and Edlyn.

"Loralei move everyone out of here! Quickly!" Ariana commanded. "Oh no, I don't think that's very nice. Leaving before the party starts." The female voice sang out before she burst out in to a loud laugh. "Something weird is going on!" Loralei shouted as she tried to open a portal. Ariana broke out into a cold sweat as she watched Loralei struggle with her conjuring. "O-oh sweetie, did you think I didn't come prepared? I brought along someone with great power. He can easily stop your little parlor trick but where are my manners! I swear I have been losing myself too much lately! I have a little gift for you Ariana." The female voice called out happily.

"Who are you and what do you want?!" Ariana shouted. "Who are you? Who are you? Who are you?!" The female voice mimicked like a parrot before bursting out into a gut wrenching laugh. "Honestly you are one entering person!" The female voice said happily. "That's why I'm giving you a gift! A sign of my appreciation." She continued but Ariana refused to reply to her. "Deagan! Deagan, please don't do this! I know you, you're better than this, you're not evil. Just tell me what they did to you and we can try and figure things out." Ariana shouted into the air.

"Deagan? Deagan, you little charmer you. You just had to enchant the little priestess wanna be too?" The female voice said in a cold tone. "Deagan please!" Ariana pleaded again. "Well this became boring rather quickly. Let's just get the party started instead since my mood has turned bitter." The female voice said with an arrogant tone.

"Stand back!" Ariana ordered as she brought out her claws but no one moved instead they all called out their weapons and stood beside her. Ariana smiled but seeing everyone willing to fight just added to her anxiety. "Well then... Just take my present instead then we can have our party." The female voice said before a portal opened up before them.

Everyone held their breath as Ariana closed her eyes. She then slowly opened her eyes and caught sight of orange waves and curls. "Talisha!" She shouted as another body followed suit. "Halina!" Both girls landed at Ariana's feet, completely unconscious and badly beaten. "Who would do something like this?!" Roland said as he picked up Talisha while Leigh helped sit up Halina. "Vasu!" Ariana called out but Vasu stood perfectly still as he watched them.

"Vasu?" Ariana called out in confusion. Vasu turned and pointed to Xander and Edlyn. The smoky prison was being pounded by Edlyn while Xander was on all fours gasping for air. "Edlyn!" Ariana shouted as she rushed towards the cube like prison. "You never change do you?" The female voice called out.

Ariana turned her head back and her eyes grew wide in horror. In an instant Leigh was stabbed in the heart. Leigh's eyes widened as her mouth trembled. A trickle of blood escaped the corner other mouth while blue and black veins started to spread out from the wound. "LEIGH!" Ariana screamed. Vasu caught Ariana's shoulder and tossed her back. Her body collided into the cube prison as Vasu stared her down. "Break it! Or we all die!" He shouted before turning back to the crowd.

A sweet laugh filled the air as Halina pulled out her dagger from Leigh's body. She then turned her gaze to Cayden and slowly rose off of the ground. "You're next good looking." She said with a wink. "No!" Ariana cried. Halina looked mad and moved quickly, just as Cayden raised his own twin daggers, a black bubble surrounded the crowd. Halina's dagger collided with the black bubble and to everyone's surprise the bubble burst, sending everyone flying.

"We'll handle this! Quickly break that prison!" Rahul roared as he changed. Davita collected some bodies and levitated them into the air while Loralei struggled to open a portal. Halina rose awkwardly like a puppet on strings being pulled up by it's master. "That was a nice trick but it won't work again." She said with a dangerous sounding laugh. Suddenly small black portals opened up and Halina jumped into one. Ariana looked around and to her horror Halina was moving with great speed, jumping through the portals as a way to attack everyone.

People started to scream as Halina landed her strikes. "OPEN THE PRISON!" Vasu shouted at the top of his lungs as he tried to heal the ones closest to him. With tears in her eyes Ariana turned to the prison and raised her claws. Edlyn was cradling Xander's head, weeping as she watched everything from the prison. Ariana struck down but nothing happened. Ariana struck again as more cries and screams rang in her ears.

Ariana closed her eyes and looked for help but something was wrong. "Charoite?" Ariana whispered as she approached the pedestal. Charoite's form changed, he was no longer a starburst but a block of stone with the same strange black and blue veins that were on Leigh's body. "Charoite?" Ariana called out but nothing happened. She looked left then right. "What happened?" She asked. Her familiars each shook with fear.

Ariana bit her bottom lip as her tears flowed down her cheeks. "No, no, no, this can't be happening...." She mumbled to herself. "This can't be it! I have to do something!" She shouted to herself. "This can't be the end!" I won't let this be the end!" She shouted as she brought up her claws and bitterly stared. "All this power and I can't do anything?! No I refuse to believe it! I have power!
