Chapter 440 - Obscured Sight

"Don't worry. Everything will be fine." Tillie said as she patted Ariana's clawed hand. "How did they find us? Our plan was flawless!" Edlyn gasped. "Plan?" Ariana asked as she slowly removed her hand from Tillie. "We had multiple carriages sent out looking for you. If someone found you all the others would act as decoys. We wouldn't even signal eachother of we found you... Ariana, if we're being ambushed right now then you're being hunting down." Tillie replied. Ariana's eye's widened. 

"Who would be hunting," Ariana started but then a thought hit her. "Do you know who's carriage you're stopping?!" Roland shouted from outside. Everyone in the carriage held their breathes as they listened for a reply. "If you take another step closer I will assume you're actions to be hostile and I will use force to protect this carriage!" Roland shouted even fiercer. 

"They're attacking!" Ariana growled. "Stay inside!" Tillie ordered as she jumped out of the carriage and slammed the door shut. "Who's out there?" Edlyn whispered. "Duko?" Ariana called out. Ariana waited and after a few heart beats she paled. She then jumped forward as anxiety and distress painted her face. "You can't leave!" Xander said as he grabbed Ariana's arm and held her back. 

Edlyn looked at Ariana for instructions on what to do. "If I don't go out there they will die." Ariana hissed as she stared down Xander. "And if you go out there they will know who you are." Xander rebutted. Ariana flinched, she couldn't risk letting the ones outside know who she really was. "Go!" Edlyn shouted as she wrapped her arms around Xander with all her strength. "Edlyn!" Xander shouted as he let go of Ariana.

"Go now or you'll regret it!" Edlyn shouted as she closed her eyes shut and held Xander with all her might. Ariana smiled, Edlyn had always given her the push she needed. "Thanks...." Ariana said as she jumped out of the carriage. 

The scene before her was nothing short of gruesome. A ring of robed men and women stood around them and the carriage. While Tillie was on the ground, she had one hand placed over top of her shoulder while Roland was drenched in blood. He looked positively mad with rage as his eyes glowed with an eerie, deep, strawberry red colour.

Roland held his dragon slayer sword in between his hands as he stood in front of Tillie, her dismembered right arm laid on the ground next to her while cut down bodies were scattered around them. "Tillie!" Ariana shouted. "Get away!" Tillie shouted back just as Roland raised his sword and looked down at Tillie. "No!" Ariana screamed. Her Lumas shot out from Ariana and changed into their true forms but Roland was too fast, too efficient. "NOOOOOOOOO!" Ariana roared into the air, blood red tears escaped her eyes as Tillie's body lifelessly landed on to the ground. "What they hell?! What is going on?!" A man shouted from the surrounding robed men, he and the others raised their hands and covered their ears. Ariana's cries were casing them to became disorientated. "Make it stop!" Someone shouted with a strained voice. 

"How can this be happening?!" Someone else shouted in surprise. "A tail! I see a tail!" Another yelled as they started to drop to their knees. "Beast folk?!" The first man shouted, suddenly Roland dropped to his knees as his sword slipped from his grasp. His eyes flickered from red to brown as he m.o.a.ned. "Ariana?" He called out pitifully but Ariana would not let up her heart wrenched cries. He couldn't focus, his vision was blurred but he could recognized Ariana's cries. 

"Tillie?" He then called out as he tried to look around but his vision was too obscured. "Tillie?" He called again and as he tried to feel around the ground, groans were coming from behind him but he was set on trying to find Tillie. He felt something wet and cold just a foot away. His heart stopped, his hand was shaking and his blood turned to ice. 

He stretched out his hand further and felt a something colder then the blood. He laid his hand on top of the old object and slid his hand upwards, he recognized the curves of the object and could feel tears starting to spill from his eyes. "Tillie?" He called out painfully. Ariana stopped roaring and looked at Roland. He crawled closer to the object and with his hands he found the curves of her face. "Tillie..." Roland cried as he lifted up her head and cradled it in his arms.

"T-T-Tille, Tillie, Tillie." Roland sobbed as he brought his trembling lips to her face. "Ariana what's going on?!" Edlyn shouted as she opened the door. Edlyn eyes trembled as she spotted Roland holding Tillie in his arms, in a spit second Edlyn started to scream, she tried to jump out of the carriage but Xander held her back with in his embrace. "No, no, no! Tillie!" She cried.

Ariana stepped in front of Edlyn's view and ripped off her cloak and revealed her form to the robed people who were finally recovering from Ariana's roar. "A-a-a garnet dragon child...." A woman called out as they all finally got to their feet. "Kill them." Ariana said in a dark tone and the Lumas didn't hesitate. They all rushed forward and started to kill each robed person with out discrimination. Ariana walked forward, tears spilling from her eyes.

"Roland, I'm sorry." Ariana whispered. Roland raised his head and tried to look at Ariana but something was wrong with his eyes. "Ariana... I can't see," Roland said pitifully. "Please, please, tell me, am I holding Tillie?" He asked softy. "Yes, she's gone now." Ariana replied. Roland could no longer hold back his his tears, he looked so pure and innocent while his face aged ten years from his heart ache. 

"I'm sorry." Ariana said as her Lumas returned to her side. Around them no robed person was left alive. "I am so sorry." She said again.
