72 Can I Rely On You?

Hazel Lu, a great doctor from Arendell. Mother of three children, had two daughters and had one adopted son. She is a wife of the great General Andy Lu. The price of her service is the highest in the world. Thus, only people from a good background and rare case only she would attend. Because of that, she is someone who is very hard to get an appointment.

After Ha Eun sleep, she went to the cafeteria on the ground floor. All of her medical record she already passes to Dr. Harlina. She's one of the skilled doctors in this city. An old acquaintance of Dr. Hazel. She's from now will take over Ha Eun's case under her care.

While she was looking for a table, her eyes caught a glimpse of a young man sitting at the table outside the cafeteria. She smiles and went to him.

"May I sit here?" She asks his permission.

"Dr. Lu? Oh yes, please." Ren's a bit surprised to see Dr. Hazel talks to him.

Put the coffee and the sandwich on the tables, she asks him.

"Mr. Ren, how old are you?" She asks before took a bite on her sandwich.

"I'm 21, this year." He said and sipped his coffee after that.

"Oh..I had a son, he's 24 this year. Near your age and I also had a two daughter. My daughter likes to visit Ha Eun when she was admitted in my hospital. She's a few years younger than you and Ha Eun."

"Hm.." He smiles at the doctor in front of him. She looks beautiful like a woman in her twenties, never he thought that she actually had three children near his age though.

"You know, when the first time Ha Eun came to my house, I was so surprised. She was crying that day, begging me to treat her. She even drenched because of the rain all along the way when she wants to find my house." Hazel start.

"That day, I don't know who she is. I had an urgent meeting with my team, so I didn't know she was waiting at the outside of the house the whole day. Lucky for her that my husband was at home and he helps her to go to my lab inside my house. My daughter who also studies in the medical field, help her to check on her condition. Once the result out, my daughter show it to me."

"She said, 'Mom, look at these result. She's in stage four. Still, she coming here and begging you for help.' I was a bit surprised. How a person with a stage four bone marrow cancer had the courage to find me and begging me to save her life? Doesn't she know that if one in that stage, she actually just wait her time to…you know." She stops for a moment.

While Ren, he feels like his heart is being pierced by what he heard right now. Knowing how hard she trying to keep alive till today.

Wipe her corner of eyes, she continues again. "I went to her, ask her reason why she wants to lives so desperately. Her answer though….shocked me and change my mind to save her. Even though I know I couldn't help her from her cancer, but still...I manage to give her a few more months for her to live her life to the fullest."

Ren Zhi's eyes start to redden a bit.

"You wanna know what is her reason?" She asks.

Ren Zhi diverts his eyes to the road for a second before he turns to her again and nods her head.

"She said to me. 'Doc, in this world. I don't want anything other than one thing that I've longed for. This one thing makes me had the courage to go and find someone who can at least help me. I want him to know before I go.. I really really want him to know how I feel. I don't want him to feel lonely when I'm gone. I want to spend all my life with him. And that thing is..love. Even though, this is impossible love for me.' "

Ren's tears already roll down to his cheek. He quickly wipes it and lowered his head a bit.

"I worked hard to create her 'prolong' medication. However, the result only worked until next year. That's what I predicted. She begging at me to let her back here. Knowing how determined she is, I let her go without me watching her over here. So, Mr. Ren. Can I rely on you?" She put her sandwich and hold his hand with both of her hand.

"Watch her for me. Make sure she takes her medicine on time and treat her nicely while she still breathes. I love her as my daughter. She never had anyone back then, we're the only family she had. The only family who sees her suffer her days with the treatment and all. Please.." She really hopes that Ren will agree. She doesn't know how deep their bond is, all she knows that this person is the one that Ha Eun loves the most.

Ren touches her hand with his right hand. "I will." He replied in short.

"Thank you." Hazel a bit happy to hear it. She rummages her handbag and passes him his card.

"This is my card. Show it under the light then my number will appear on it. Tell me if anything happens to her again." She said and sipped her coffee.

"I will, thank you for your care to her all this while." He bows his head again to her.

"If you want to thank me, just treat her good. That's all I ask."

In the dorm,

Xue Mei was waiting for Ren Zhi's call. But since he didn't call her at all, she decides to take the train to her workplace.

Usually, Ren will send her and fetch her from the workplace but seems like he is busy today. She took her sling bag and wear her sneakers. Tied up her hair with a ponytail and leave only her fringes, she walks out of her room and closes the door.

"Oh, we're in the same shift today?" Xui Li also just walk out of his room.

Nodded her head, she says with a smile "Yeah..seem so."

"Did Ren already at the gate? He's a bit late than usual huh?"

"Uhm, no. He didn't send me today, I took the train." She walks at the aisle with Xui Li behind her.

"Huh? Why?" He feels a bit curious. Normally, Ren would not let his girlfriend ride any public transportation if he was there. He's sometimes being overprotective toward Xue Mei.

"He might be busy."

"Oh. So do you want to ride with me? I still have my jeep at the parking lot." He offers her.

"Hm..no, thanks." She smiles at him while opening the entrance door.

"Why? Is it because of yesterday?"

Blushed a bit, she shakes her head. Of course, it's not about yesterday. Even yesterday she was so happy, but this is the different matter.

"I just feel like, it been long since last I took a train."

Chuckles, he also smiles and still follows behind her.

"Yeah, me too. Care if I join you today?" He asks.

"Not at all."

Both of them walk to the subway station. They talked about a lot of things. Like they used to when they together before she starts datingRen Zhi.

"Oh wait, this is where I first bump with you on the way to our workplace, right?" She looks around.

"Yup."

"Attention to all passenger, our train will be arriving in one minute.."

"Alright, let's line up." He extended his hand to her. With so many people today, the train for sure will be full of people.

Took his hand, she lined up waiting for the train. Once the train stop, they started to get in once the passenger out.

In the middle of the crowded, her hand was apart from Xui Li when suddenly the crowded push them.

"Xui…Xui.." She was slightly stuck in the between of people and can't find Xui Li either.

"Excuse me."

"Hurry up, girl."

"Tch! Move aside."

"Hey, move up."

She's a bit panic when the train door almost closed and she still stuck in the middle of them.

Suddenly she felt someone grab her waist from the side and pull her in. A few people start to complain and even grunting but she just ignores it.

"Hey, I got you." Xui Li put his hand at both sides of her waist and leaned at the glass window wall. She can't even move with so many people inside the train.

Her body was like glued to him. She could smell his fresh fragrance and sometimes, she could hear his beating heart. Or is it actually hers?

"Sorry I had to pull you like this." He said again and lowered his head a bit when she remains silent.

Looked up at him, their face was so close. She could see his dark brown eyes and long lashes.

"It's..okay."

He smiles makes him look more handsome to her eyes and her face was totally beet red right now.

Looking at her beet red face, he diverts his eyes back and heads up again. Afraid that he might do something inappropriate to her inside this train later.

She also hides her face and turns to the side. She could hear a loud sound of heartbeat him and hers.
