407 Forgiveness Starts With A Kick

Ailwin thought about what Lord Mano was telling him. After leaving Rowood City, he was more scared of the virus and the hidden experiments the King is doing, than to think about the honey trees.

He had left that problem in Mika's hands. He figured it would be an easy task, especially since she already knows how to fix the problem.

However, if what Lord Mano says is true, which problem will cause the most damage to the citizens, the virus or the honey?

"Lord Mano, I told you about what happened at Rowood city...do you think this virus can kill more citizens than the lack of honey."

"...Mmm, I can't say for sure as I wasn't there at the city, but I can give you a tour of my orchards tomorrow so you can see what we are facing."

Ailwin agreed and thanked Lord Mano for his insight. He really has been neglected to see how big the Fae's dependency on the honey trees is. From food, clothes, energy, weapons, medicine, etc. Everything revolve around these trees.

When Mika and Lyra arrived at the dining hall to see Ailwin and Mano speaking to each other in hush tones, Lyra turned to her daughter worry.

"Mika, you did tell Ailwin not to say anything to your father about...well, everything, did you?"

"No, I thought that would be a given...oh, shoot!" Mika ran over to interrupt Ailwin and her father's conversation.

"Hey, don't hog him to yourself!" Mika dragged Ailwin way from Mano's company to talk outside.

Outside, Mika tugged him along to a secluded spot, "Ailwin…"

"You're touching me again." He smiled, gesturing to their clasped hands.

"No…" Wanting to pull away, however, he tighten his hold. "...Ailwin-"

"Mikaela. This needs to stop, I don't like being blamed for something I had no control over…"

Mika fell silent. She knew it wasn't fair to him,"....but gods damnit I don't like people touching what's mine. Whether its donuts, chicken or you!"

"First of all Mika, I dislike that you put me in a group like that...but I understand you being jealous."

"Tsk...I'm not jealous."

"No?"

"No."

"Then if I were to dance with your sister right no-hey!" Ailwin stopped the small foot that was aiming at his crotch. "I thought we talked about this!?" He shook her foot in his hand.

"Okay...I might be a little jealous...a little. It's like she touched the food on my plate before I could eat it."

"Mikaela, I don't like that analogy...Please stop comparing me to food." Ailwin sighed. "I can tell you now that whatever happened last night has left a bad taste in my mouth as well."

"Did you wash your mouth out with disinfectant…?"

"Yes…I got your threatening message last night."

"Okay then...I'm sorry."

Happy she wasn't holding this against him anymore, Ailwin placed her foot back on the ground.

"By the way, you didn't happen to tell my father anything, did you?"

"En...I told him everything that happen in Rowood city..."

"Why?"

"He's your father..."

"The King is your father, but you don't see me calling him up to tell him everything that happened."

"Yes, but your father isn't trying to kill us."

Damn, I hated it when he's right.

"...and why can't I tell him anyways…"

"I don't know, its between my parents..." Mika stopped what she was about to say and thought back to her mother's words of the way over here, "You know what! F**k It, let's tell him. I don't have a problem with my father, my mother does, right?" She looked at him with bright sparkling eyes.

"...right." Ailwin answered, not understanding what she was getting at.

"Then let's let my parents solve their own damn love problem...heheh…" Mika started chuckling while Ailwin watched on in confusion.

"Mika, why are your eye purple?"

"...….what?"

"Your eyes were an amethyst color…my bathroom last night." He lean forward holding her chin up to look into her eyes, "Though they aren't now...what is going on?"

Caught unaware by his question, Mika's frozen for a second.

"....um….that...Ailwin!" She smacked his hand way from her face, "I am offended! We have been engage for so long…"

"Eight months."

"….and you still don't know the color of my eyes!" Mika wanted to stomp back inside the dining hall, but his hand on the collar of her dress stopped her.

"Nice try Mika, but that isn't going to work."

Damn, have I used the guilt trip too much lately....?

"I want no more secrets, Mika... I want the truth."

"Heh, you want the truth….you can't handle the truth!"

"How do you know if you don't tell me..."Ailwin counter back, showing his anger towards her for the first time.

Wait, is this how that line this suppose to work?

"Mikaela, do you remember what you said to me when I had you followed at Lord Tasar's estate?….If you can't be truthful with me then we need to rethink our engagement to one another."

"No fair, you be using my words against me…!"

"Mikaela."

"Okay...okay...geez, I was going to tell you anyway…Let's go."

"Where are we going?"

"To my residence, but first back into the dining hall…"

"To notify Lord Mano and Lady Lyra that we are leaving?"

"What-no, I want to take some food back...I mean, yea, we'll tell my parents that too…"

In the dining left by themselves, Lyra and Mano sat beside each in uncomfortable silence. They hadn't spoken to each other since the day Mano air out his grievances. Since then, they have been taking care of Prince Ailwin and their daughter.

"Lyra, you look beautiful as always…" Mano quietly complimented, unable to stop himself from glancing at her.

"Thank you, you too." She stiffly replied.

Mano smiled when he saw her being as nervous as he is in their interaction with one another.

Placing his hand on top of hers, he didn't say anything else and just watched the clan members enjoying themselves.

The feeling of his warm hand on top of hers made Lyra's heart ache.
