Chapter 87 - Another Mystery

Eros couldn't believe that Azrael was not able to find any record about Grandma Elysa's death in the book of death.

He moved closer to Azrael, holding both his shoulders. He asked him another question while staring straight into his red eyes.

"Don't lie to me, Azrael. Are you just teasing me that's why you are telling me this? Do you want to kill me by giving me suspense, am I right?"

"My friend, I want to let you know that this is a very serious matter to me. Please don't play around anymore," Eros said, feeling annoyed as he thought Azrael was lying to him.

Azrael had the urge to facepalm when he heard Eros's accusation. 'Do I look like someone who would lie about this thing?'

"Eros, my friend, do you know that you are hurting my feelings by calling me a liar? I would not lie to you about this thing." Azrael defended himself.

"I did something dangerous just for you. If Zaki finds out that I checked the book of death secretly then I will face a great punishment from him."

"We can only check the book of death to see the name of the person whom we are about to collect. I am not assigned to collect souls as of the moment so I have no right to check the book of death. But for your sake, I broke the Zaki's rule and took a risk."

"Is this how you will pay me for my hard work? Calling me a liar?!" Azrael complained to Eros spontaneously.

Eros fell silent. He was now convinced that Azrael was telling the truth. He was not lying. But he wondered how could this happen?

"What is the meaning of this? By the way, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to accuse you. It's just that I couldn't believe this," Eros meekly said, apologizing to Azrael.

"How I wish I also knew the answer to your question. I am also bothered by this phenomenon. Are you sure that Selene's grandmother will die this year? Maybe her name is not yet written in the book of death since she will not die this year."

Eros's eyes brightened up when he heard that. Was it really possible that Selene's grandmother would not die this year?

"Really? Will she still live longer? But according to Selene, in her previous life her grandmother died this year because of her illness. Is it possible that her fate also changed after Selene's reincarnation?"

Azrael paused for a moment, scanning his mind about the possible scenarios.

"Honestly Eros, this is a mystery. If her grandmother died because of terminal illness then it is inevitable that she will also die the same year." Azrael shared his opinion with Eros.

"Zaki might have an explanation for this but I can't ask him that directly, or else, he will know that I broke his rule. I might be killed by him with endless torture." Azrael cringed at that thought.

"So there's a possibility Grandma Elysa will leave, right?" Eros asked again with a hopeful look in his blue eyes.

"We are not sure about this, Eros. Don't tell this to Selene, or else, she might expect. It's better not to give her false hope," Azrael warned Eros.

"Yes, I know. I understand!" Eros promptly responded.

That was the least he could do for Selene. He didn't want her to get hurt just because of false hope.

Azrael and Eros were not sure about the meaning of the recent phenomenon. They couldn't explain why the name of Selene's grandmother was not written in the book of death.

A lot of strange things have been happening in the Netherworld ever since that day when one soul escaped and became an evil spirit.

Selene, who was not in the book of death, also died unexpectedly that day. They wondered if the events were interconnected with each other.

There's no way to confirm because they didn't want other grim reapers, especially the Leader of the grim reapers, to know the deal that happened between Eros and Azrael.

They revived Selene who was supposed to be dead already. She was brought back to the time, five years before she died.

"So what are you going to do now?" Azrael asked Eros.

"I will have to keep an eye on Grandma Elysa's condition. If her health will improve then there's a high possibility that she will live longer," said Eros.

'Being Grandma Elysa's private nurse is a nice idea. I can monitor her health closely while acting as a human,' Eros thought to himself, feeling determined.

Azrael remembered something. His expression became gloomy again as he remembered their deal.

"Ahem, Eros…" Azrael paused, a little bit hesitant to continue.

"Yes, what is it?" Eros asked him with a deep frown on his face.

"How about our deal? I wonder if… you will still help me see your Mother Angel, Sienna even though I didn't get the information you need." Azrael was smiling at Eros sheepishly while scratching his face.

Eros looked at him with amusement. Azrael's attitude would always change 180 degrees every time they would talk about Sienna, cupid's mother angel.

The playful and cunning grim reaper, Azrael, would always look obedient and shy at the mention of Sienna's name.

"Alright! Stop it! Don't give me that kind of foolish blushing look. It doesn't suit you! Of course, a deal is a deal! I will still help you see her  personally." Eros gave him assurance.

"Yesss! My hard work paid off! I took a great risk breaking Zaki's rule so that I could meet Sienna!" Azrael jumped with joy like a child who got his favorite toy.

He was back to his cheerful mood! He really thought Eros would not help him since he didn't get the information he needed.

But Eros was a man of his word. Azrael did his best to search for the information. Unfortunately, he didn't get anything.

But it didn't mean Eros would not fulfill the end of the deal. He would still help Azrael to meet Sienna.

"However, I can't do that right now. I'm still busy," Eros reminded Azrael.

"It's alright. I am willing to wait!"
