Chapter 88 - Visiting The Chou Family

The next day, Grandma Elysa was discharged from the hospital. She didn't want to be admitted and stay longer in the hospital.

With that, Selene complied with Grandma Elysa's request. But in one condition, she would have to do a regular check-up in Yangche Medical Center.

Grandma Elysa agreed and didn't oppose that. Selene also started looking for a private nurse.

She received some recommendations from their family doctor. She would choose one among the applicants recommended by their family doctor.

Eros hadn't shown himself to Selene in his human form, that's why she was not yet informed that Gabriel was interested to become her grandmother's private nurse.

Eros was still trying to figure out how he would convince Selene to choose him because ideally, a female nurse was more likely to be chosen.

Aside from checking the resume of the nurse applicants, Selene also had another important thing to do today.

It was meeting Renz's parents, informing them about their plan of holding a wedding ceremony next month.

Selene was a little bit nervous today. She spent her time facing her wardrobe as she chose what to wear on this occasion.

In the end, she wore a simple pink knee-length dress. She tied her hair and applied light make-up on her face. She looked simply pretty.

Renz's parents were like Selene's second parents. They took care of her when Selene's parents died.

Maynard Chou and Jasmine Chou were good friends of Mark Anderson and Claire Anderson. They were also business partners.

The Chou Family and the Anderson Family dominated the business world in their time. They belonged to the most successful businessmen in the City of Sierra.

Though she was close to Renz's parents, Selene couldn't help but feel anxious. This was the first time they would talk about her marriage with Renz.

Renz's grandfather, Ivan Chou, would also be there. She would be facing the Chou Family today and she was very nervous.

Just a few minutes after she was done fixing herself inside her room, Renz arrived to fetch her.

Just like Selene, Renz was only wearing a simple blue shirt and white pants. He still looked manly and gorgeous. Selene couldn't deny that fact.

He was the typical handsome and charming CEO that any woman would dream to have as a boyfriend and as a husband.

Grandma Elysa was sitting in the living room together with Renz when Selene went downstairs.

"How I wish I could join you today," Grandma Elysa told Selene and Renz.

"Grandma, we don't want you to get tired. You just got discharged from the hospital. You need to take a rest at home," Renz said to Grandma Elysa with his concerned voice.

"Renz is right, grandma. Don't worry. We will update you later," Selene said, kissing her grandma's cheek.

"Alright. This old woman will listen to the young ones. Send my regards to Ivan and to your parents, Renz."

Grandma Elysa was a close friend of Renz's grandfather, Ivan Chou. It was their idea to betroth their grandchildren before. Now their promises to each other were about to happen.

Soon, Renz and Selene said goodbye to Grandma Elysa. Aunt Ling was with her. She was the one who would watch over Selene's grandma while she was not around.

After twenty minutes, Renz and Selene arrived at Chou Residence. It was a large mansion surrounded by beautiful landscapes.

Renz's mother, Jasmine, loved flowers a lot so they had a large flower garden at the mansion. Selene remembered how Renz and she picked flowers while hanging out in the garden area during their childhood.

They had good and beautiful childhood memories in this garden. Selene couldn't help but smile.

Renz was glad to see Selene's smile. She was so nervous moments ago. He could see it. Well, he couldn't blame her. He, himself, also felt that way.

'Am I nervous because I am excited or because I am not sure if I am ready to take this big responsibility of being Selene's husband?' Renz asked himself inwardly.

But no matter what the answer to that question, Renz had to do this and take responsibility for Selene. This was the least he could do to make Grandma Elysa be at peace.

When they entered the mansion, they were greeted right away by the head butler. He informed them that Renz's parents and his grandpa were already waiting for them inside.

Jasmine welcomed Selene with a warm hug. "Oh Selene, I missed you. You haven't visited us for long. Are you busy with your studies?"

Selene just nodded her head and apologized to her. "Sorry, Auntie."

"It's alright. At least, now you are here. Oh, I told you to call me Mom, not Auntie! Have you already forgotten about that?"

Selene smiled at her sheepishly while shaking her head. "Yes, Mom. I will."

Renz could only smile watching his mother and Selene. Soon, they greeted his father and grandfather who were leisurely sitting in the living room while enjoying their tea-time.

"Hmm, now young ones enlighten us today. I heard that you have important things to tell us," Renz's grandfather spoke up.

Renz and Selene were both sitting on the opposite sofa, facing Renz's parents and grandfather.

"Grandpa, honestly, we have good news and bad news."

Jasmine and Maynard frowned upon hearing that while Grandpa Ivan raised his eyebrow. Now, they have become more curious.

"Spill the beans now, Renz. Tell us the good news first then the bad news right after," Maynard said, urging them to speak up.

Selene and Renz exchanged meaningful glances with one another. Selene gave him a go signal so Renz just nodded at her while holding her hands.

"The good news… Selene and I have decided to get married next month. The bad news… Grandma Elysa was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer." Renz informed them.

Maynard, Jasmine, and Grandpa Ivan were taken aback after hearing that. They were shocked by those two statements coming from Renz.

"Sorry for deciding on this without consulting you. We just want to fulfill my grandmother's wish. I hope you will support us," Selene softly said to them, with her polite voice.
