Chapter 86 - No Record

After talking to Renz, Selene noticed that Eros had gone somewhere again without informing her. Eros was still there watching Grandma Elysa when she woke up. But he suddenly disappeared when Renz arrived and entered the private ward this morning.

'I wonder why Eros is leaving my side more often. I thought he would stick with me often,' Selene lamented to herself.

"Hey, why are you pouting and frowning? Did I do or say something that upset you?" Renz asked Selene as he noticed her gloomy expression.

Selene promptly shook her head. Renz was not the one who upset her. She was just thinking about her cupid who disappeared again.

"No, you did nothing. I just remember my assignments. Come inside. Let's join my grandma and Aunt Ling."

Renz just nodded his head, guiding Selene toward Grandma Elysa's ward. "How's your grandma?"

"She said she felt a little better now," Selene responded.

"Oh, by the way, Selene. I forgot to ask you this yesterday. I saw you with someone. Is he your friend? The one who accompanied you here in the restaurant," Renz asked.

He recalled the scene where Selene was hugging another guy. He was handsome. Renz didn't know whether he felt jealous or he was just curious about the identity of the guy, that's why he brought this up today.

He had no idea that Selene was close to someone, especially a guy. So he wanted to know who that guy was and what was his relationship with Selene.

"Oh, that is Gabriel, my new friend. I met him in school. We are working on the same project that's why we were together yesterday. He was the one who helped me when grandma collapsed."

Selene didn't mention that Gabriel was the one she brought to Samantha's shop. The project she was referring to was about saving Samantha, not a school-related project.

"I'm sorry. I was not able to introduce you yesterday. I had even forgotten about him since my mind was so focused on my grandmother. He also left without saying goodbye. Probably he didn't want to disturb us," Selene said, explaining to Renz.

Renz was already satisfied to get her answer. 'So he is her new friend.'

"I would like to thank him for helping you out yesterday," Renz said, looking at her meaningfully.

He couldn't explain but he was intrigued by that guy. He wanted to know him more. Was it just a curiosity or Renz was bothered by Eros's presence? Renz didn't know the answer to that question either.

"Okay. I will introduce him to you once we see each other again," Selene said, reassuring him.

Meanwhile, the person Selene and Renz were talking about was just wandering around the hospital, watching and observing the nurses on duty. He was studying their every action.

He was doing this for one main reason. He wanted to become Grandma Elysa's private nurse so that he could be with Selene as Gabriel.

He didn't know what had gotten into him. He just felt the urge to be closer to Selene, especially now that he felt that his mission would be completed soon.

He wanted to make the most of his time with Selene. He could no longer do that once their contract would end.

Aside from that, he also wanted to help Selene in taking care of Grandma Elysa with the remaining days she had left in this world.

He wanted to be there for Selene, comforting and supporting her in difficult times like this. As time went by, Eros was becoming more involved with Selene's personal life and problems.

Eros was still concentrating on his observation when Azrael suddenly popped up to his side. He had returned to the human world after his short visit to the Netherworld.

Azrael's mood was different from his mood yesterday before he went back to the Netherworld. He was so bubbly yesterday, but now he looked gloomy and puzzled.

"Hey, you are back! Did you see it?" Eros asked Azrael excitedly the moment he saw him.

But his excitement suddenly disappeared when he noticed Azrael's ugly expression. "Why are you looking like that? Did Zaki catch you checking something in the book of death?"

Azrael covered Eros's mouth so that he would not speak further. He peered at their surroundings and saw other grim reapers around the corner.

"Let's leave here. There are lots of grim reapers here. They might overhear us. Let's talk somewhere, not here," Azrael whispered to Eros.

Eros moved his head up and down, indicating he agreed to Azrael's suggestion. He almost forgot that they were not the only heavenly beings present in that hospital.

Eros and Azrael immediately left the hospital and found a better place where they could talk all they wanted without worrying about others overhearing their conversation.

"So what did you find out? Who's the grim reaper assigned to guide Selene's grandmother going to the Netherworld? Do you know the exact time and date of her death?" Eros bombarded Azrael with questions.

Azrael raised his hand, stopping Eros. "Whoa… easy bro! Please just ask one question at a time. You are not excited, are you?"

"I'm sorry. I just can't help it. I am eager to know the information from you. I got worried because your expression didn't look good," Eros admitted.

Azrael sighed deeply when he heard that. He didn't know how he would tell this to Eros. He knew that Eros would be disappointed once he told him what he got after returning from the Netherworld.

"Tell me now, Azrael." Eros could no longer wait.

Azrael took another deep sigh before answering Eros.

"I think there's something wrong with the book of death nowadays. Strange! I couldn't find Selene's grandmother in the book of death!" Azrael said to Eros with his exasperated tone.

"Huh? What do you mean?!" Eros asked him in confusion.

"There is no record about her… or about her death!" he declared.

Eros looked at Azrael with disbelief. "How could that happen? How is that possible?"

"I don't know. I have no idea as well."
