Chapter 68 - You Can't Leave Me

Ivy heard the shots ring out. The silence that followed then rang in her ears filling her heart with dread. She then turned to Noah, his large back was facing her and she knew he was shooting back at the men. They had to buy some time she thought. She tried and tried the car but it was not starting right now, they were helpless and couldn't run they could only fight back.

"Come on... aghhh." The car just wouldn't start, it frustrated Ivy, as she hit the steering wheel with her fists.

Noah realised the car had stopped working altogether, he by then had shot two of the men that had approached him.

"Fuckers." He hates sneaky and underhand methods.

He had dodged the bullets that they had fired at him. But he had felt pain in his chest and arm. He looked at his arm it had been grazed by a bullet. He got out of the car his gaze fierce and intense as he glared at the men assessing each of them.

Bang... Bang.

Avoiding the shots easily he kneeled and opened the passenger side door and using it as a shield. He lifted his arm which was steady and closed his eye as he fired shot after shot. He had superb marksmanship and would never waste any shot.

One, two, three the men dropped quickly to the tarmac, their body's lay limp and blood poured from their bodies.

They hadn't expected Noah to return fire so quickly. They had him pinned and without his two loyal guards, they hoped he would be an easy target.

Noah had taken down half of the men now and the other half had taken cover in their Alligator SUV or the ditch beside them. They hid in the tall grass now covered in mud.

Ivy got out of the car and rushed around to the bonnet, there was smoke coming from the car. She needed to get the car going so they could escape. She lifted the bonnet of the car and the heat of the car bonnet slightly burnt her hands.

"This... aghh". Her hands stung, but she ignored it and hurried to open the bonnet.

She shook her hands that stung slightly and looked at the engine. Fanning the smoke away she noticed it looked like they had flooded the engine leading to a clogged fuel filter. They would need a replacement filter and they hadn't got the time or the resources for her to fix it.

Ivy knew that Aiden and Thomas were on their way they just needed to buy some time. She saw one of the men that had been hiding in the tall grass verge that they had skidded into rush up behind the car.

She saw Noah standing tall keeping the other men at bay by shooting at them. His tall stature would make many quiver in fear. She did not know why these men had attacked them but she was sure any that survived the shoot out, their end would be long and painful.

Bang... Bang. Bang...

Noah didn't see the man as he rushed towards him from the tall grass with his gun drawn and pointed it at Noah.

Ivy had no time to think she rushed to her lover and pulled him back with as much strength as she could gather. Her adrenaline allowed her the strength to pull Noah back quickly and she stood in front of him.

Bang...

Ivy felt the heat and burn as she was shot. Her legs are a bit wobbly. But she stood tall arms spread covering her lover's body with her own.

Noah couldn't believe his lover had pulled him down and he had ended up on the ground. He looked up in disbelief as she stood in front of him, protecting him with her arms spread open.

Hearing the bang Noah finally had seen why she had rushed up and protected him. A man had managed to seek up and shoot at him. Only now he watched in horror as Ivy took the bullet intended for him and as she wobbled on her feet.

Bang...

Noah was furious he stood straight and tall, with furious intent and shot the man who had dared to sneak upon him. It was a head shot and the man fell to the ground as blood trickled from his head.

Bang... Bang... Bang.

She saw the car that Thomas and Aiden had been driving plus another two cars behind them coming towards them. She sighed with relief and felt a weight lifted off her chest. She started to feel woozy and spots appeared in front of her eyes.

Noah pulled her towards his chest and cradled her in his strong warm arms. Ivy felt a chill and the cold spread on her body. Their car was under fire and Noah pulled Ivy back inside. He held her in his arms she was so fearless so brave to protect him, he was proud of his lover. He hears a trembling voice.

"Are you hurt?" Ivy reached up and held his face, stroking it softly.

"Hmm." He smiled at her warmly.

With that being his only response she looked up at Noah he had blood on his left arm that hugged her and blood running down his left temple. She couldn't see any major signs of trauma so she took a deep breath and relaxed.

Noah looked at his beautiful lover her skin was paler than usual and her lips now even redder. As she started to shiver he held her closer, hoping to warm her body.

Ivy smiled up at Noah before closing her eyes to the darkness. She tried to stay awake, tried to give him some words of reassurance but she hadn't the strength.

Noah panicked, his eyes widened when he saw her eyes closed and his body goes limp in his arms. His jaw tightened and he held her as despair and anger filled his body.

"I finally found someone to protect, you can't leave me."
