Chapter 69 - His Angel

It seemed to be an eternity before one of the red lights dimmed and went off. Aiden and Thomas stood it was their boss Noah being wheeled out and into a private room.

"Doc."

"He will be okay don't worry. He will be awake in about an hour. He lost some blood and has no internal injuries. Your boss is a lucky man. Now excuse me I'll go see Ivy."

Both heaved a sigh of relief Noah was okay now just to wait on Ivy.

Hours later in a large private room, Noah lay unconscious on the hospital bed. Aiden stood waiting for the boss to wake up. Thomas entered the room beside Aiden, he had just been with Ivy in the private room next door.

Beep beep beep

The beeping noise woke Noah up, bright light streamed into his eyes from the above fluorescent light and blinded his sight. He groaned as he sat up, his body sore and stiff. The realisation hit him and he looked around the room.... where was Ivy?

"Where is she?"

Noah's deep voice was murderous and his glare was intense. Noah had a bandage wrapped around his head wound and a gauze on his arm, he wore a crisp white shirt which highlighted and complimented his pale complexion.

Thomas was afraid to speak and pushed Aiden forward. Aiden coughed and stood in front of his vengeful boss. He was quiet for a moment before building the courage to face his boss.

They had felt guilty for not being there, regretful for leaving them and angry at the whole situation.

"Ivy is next door in another private room. She is not long out of surgery. Boss, you had a lot of blood loss from your head wound and.."

"I don't give a shit about myself."

At that moment Doctor Stewart walked into the private room he was a long time friend of Noah's and wasn't afraid of his behaviour but today it even made him take a step back. Clearing his throat he interrupted Noah so Aiden wouldn't have to face Noah's wrath alone.

"Noah you have been asleep longer than we had originally thought. It wasn't till I found this I understood why."

Doctor Stewart put his hand in his pocket and took out a white handkerchief before handing Noah the white handkerchief.

Noah looked up at him and took the handkerchief. He unwrapped it and found a small metal circle with engravings on it flipping it he saw it was dented on one side. He then remembered he had a glimpse of something similar that Ivy had given him at the lake and had put in his breast pocket. He rubbed his thumb over the engravings it had a dent on one side of it, why was it dented. He was sure it was flat. He looked up at Doctor Stewart questioning him.

"This little keepsake I'm your pocket helped absorb the impact and reduce or stop penetration to the torso from a bullet. In other words that little thing stopped a bullet from hitting your heart. You still have to bruise to your chest but internally you are okay."

Noah looked down at the small circular object that was in his hand he rubbed its surface and a small smile graced his lips. She not only used her body to protect and shield him, with this little keepsake she had given him today she had saved his life. This was twice now that Ivy had saved him. She was his angel sent to protect him.

Anger then surged him. How badly was she hurt? He started to get up but still felt woozy. He sat back down and leaned back against the pillows.

"Report."

Aiden stepped forward again and Dr Stewart left the private room. This information was classified and he didn't need to hear the details nor did he want to.

"Boss we have thoroughly investigated the matter and it was Eric McCann's men. We collected the bodies of eight of his men and managed to capture one alive, he is in warehouse four now awaiting your orders. One did escape through, so Eric will know his plan failed. Eric was very meticulous this time and had somehow infiltrated our guards to find out your vacation itinerary. We have the three guards in warehouse two that Eric McCann was able to buy off for information."

Noah nodded his head, this was going to get bloody and messy. He had spy's in his organisation, he needed absolute loyalty to anyone who wasn't loyal he would get rid of him. The three guards who had sold his information would die brutally and slowly as a lesson to others, he would make the remaining guards watch the torture. As for Eric McCann, he needed to lure the snake out.

Eric McCann was older and not in great health and he had hidden away since his brother had died.

"He has bought people off, he will try it again... If he asks one of you two to betray me.."

"Boss that would never happen."

"I would never betray you, boss."

Both were extremely loyal to Noah and now Ivy. They would never betray his trust they would rather hurt themselves than their boss. That was why Noah needed them now, he smiled.

"Do it."

"Do what?"

Thomas was confused but Aiden had already understood his boss.

"If Eric approaches you do whatever he says. He will probably try to lure me to him rather than come out into the light himself. This is the only way to get his location."

Noah moved again and groaned trying to get out of bed.

"What if he uses Ivy... it's the best way to get back at you. It could be a good way to bait him out."

Aiden suggested before his rational brain could think and he regretted voicing out what would be a good strategy but too risky a sacrifice.

"NO."

"I'll do it."

They all turned hearing the small voice behind them.
