Chapter 242 - Her Inspiration

When they landed on the runway of the airport, Han Qingshan could see that Jiang Yingyue's eyes were sparkling with excitement.

Throughout the flight, there had been some slight turbulence, but apart from that, the trip had been smooth.

She had felt nervous during the turbulence, her hands having tightly clenched Han Qingshan's, but now that they were down on the flat ground again, she was so excited.

They exited the airport, where a car was waiting for them, and Han Qingshan began driving towards the village where her parents lived.

On the way, Han Qingshan stopped by a fast-food restaurant to buy some food that he brought with him to the car.

Usually, he would never let Jiang Yingyue eat fast food, but she was quite adamant that when one was on a road trip like this, then one needed to eat unhealthy food.

And as always, whatever she wanted, he would give to her.

Jiang Yingyue knew that Han Qingshan was spoiling her. She knew that she could make him do anything for her, and while she was not willing to fully depend on him, his pampering made her feel blessed.

As they drove on the roads, Jiang Yingyue continued to hold conversations with Han Qingshan. She understood that driving was boring, so it was her task to keep him entertained.

The long drive was not boring at all, and the two of them were so engrossed in their conversation that the time flew past. Before they knew it, they had arrived at the village.

"Let us head for the hotel first," Han Qingshan said smilingly, as he followed the GPS towards their destination.

The hotel was old, but it was well maintained. It did not have many facilities, but the rooms were neat and clean.

Not many were visiting at this time, and when they entered the hotel's foyer, only five other people were present apart from the staff.

Walking to the counter, Han Qingshan announced his name and was given two key cards, one for him and another for Jiang Yingyue.

Looking at the two cards, he suddenly felt discouraged. Why could he not share a room with his girlfriend? There was nothing wrong with them being open about their relationship.

But he dared not let his in-laws know that he had already laid hands on their beloved daughter, before they had even given them permission to be together.

Seeing the depressed expression on Han Qingshan's face, Jiang Yingyue felt like laughing. She had not had a night where she was not being tossed by him since they began dating, so it was a welcome change for her.

They got the hotel staff to carry their luggage to their rooms, and they went upstairs.

After putting their things away, Han Qingshan and Jiang Yingyue met in Han Qingshan's room.

"Do you want to go straight to your mother's place?" Han Qingshan asked gently. He knew that many things had to be taken into consideration, and he understood that there might be somewhere she'd instead want to go.

And right he was. "Let us go buy some flowers and head to the graveyard," she said with a sigh. "I miss Fengmian; I should give him my regards and apology now that I am back."

Knowing that this was something that truly mattered to Jiang Yingyue, Han Qingshan nodded his head. "Let us go then," he said as he gently wrapped his hand around hers, transferring his warmth to her.

Feeling his warmth, Jiang Yingyue gained more strength, and she quickly nodded her head with a slight smile on her lips.

They left the hotel and walked down the streets of the village. Although the village was not bursting with life like the capital, it was not a dead area either.

The village was one of the bigger ones in the country, having just below two thousand citizens.

The village only had the most basic shops, but it was possible to find a grocery store that also sold flowers, and they bought some beautiful orchids.

After buying the flowers, the two strolled towards the graveyard. On their way, Jiang Yingyue took in the many different impressions she had of the village. Many of the faces were different, but the roads, the buildings, everything else was so familiar that Jiang Yingyue felt her heart ache. It was as if she had returned to how things were ten years prior.

It was as if she was once more a small child walking down the streets, waiting to go to the dojo with Zhou Yan and Li Qiang, or when she was hurrying home to visit Fengmian.

Unfortunately, things could not turn back. She was now an adult and the old days would never return. She would never see Fengmian again, and this thought made tears well up in her eyes.

Han Qingshan could sense her fluctuating emotions and he felt distressed.

He knew that this trip back to the village would be hard for Jiang Yingyue, but he also knew that she needed it to get through her long time depression after losing her brother. She had to face her inner demons.

He could do nothing else than stand by her side and support her. All he could do was to calm her and say that she was strong, to be there to share his warmth with her, and cheer her up whenever she was sad.

Even so, he was very sad to see her cry, and he squeezed her hand, which made Jiang Yingyue realize that although she had lost much, she had also gained something she would never give up on.

Han Qingshan was her light in the darkness. He was what made her strive to do her best.. He was her inspiration.
