Chapter 918 Be Friends

Name:Billionaire's Gift Author:Rabbit
It was quite late by the time Nacy and Simon returned to the hall. They found a corner to sit in without drawing people's attention unnecessarily. Nacy looked around and tried to find Bruce. She eventually spotted him where he was seated.

Bruce raised his glass and drank up its content with a faint smile on his face.

Over the years, he had felt his alcohol consumption capacity growing by the day. He attended this sort of big dinner party every month, and getting drunk there was a routine act. When he first started out, he used to get drunk, but as he grew older, he learned to control himself. He could now drink a lot without actually getting drunk.

The people at the parties liked to discuss business at the table. Bruce wasn't always willing to join in such discussion, and so, he often played smart by pretending to be drunk. He would lie down on the table and say a few gibberish words so that the people considered him wasted and let him be.

That night, almost everyone at his table were women, and they wore heavy makeup.

"Mr. Xu, your photos don't do justice to show your handsome and unrestrained personality," said a woman with curly hair. She sat on his left and flashed him a flattering smile.

Bruce squinted and threw a glance at her. He wasn't sure of how she got around to making such a comment. He planned to sit there by himself and brood, but almost before he had sat, more than ten women had swarm up to his table, making him feel overwhelmed and embarrassed.

He didn't know any of them, but from how they dressed, he could tell that they were socialites in the upper class. He wasn't interested in talking to them. He felt helpless and alone to be completely surrounded by strangers.

"Thanks for the compliment," he responded with a smile despite his unease at not knowing who she was.

"Well, you're welcome, Mr. Xu. I have a simple request to ask of you. My younger brother is going to enter high school next year. But right now, he hates studying and ranks at the bottom of his

"

Simon gracefully raised his glass and poured some wine into it, holding the cup with his slender fingers. He poured another glass and handed it to Bruce. Bluntly, he said, "I want to apologize to you. I was a narrow-minded person. I hope we can both turn from enemies into friends from here on out."

Bruce stared at him. "When were we ever enemies?"

"Ahem! Just say yes or no. I'm a straightforward person. I don't like to beat about the bush." Simon pursed his lips. There was a bit of arrogance on his face, but his attitude was much softer than it was earlier that evening.

Bruce decided to be frank as well. "It's a yes. One more friend means one less enemy. Besides, even I have misunderstood myself for many years."

Holding back his laughter, Simon raised his glass of wine. "After drinking this glass of wine, we become friends. But first, let me propose a toast."

Bruce quickly clinked glasses with Simon. The two glasses collided, making a crisp sound that marked the beginning of their friendship.

No matter what misunderstandings or conflicts they had, it was now in the past. From this point on, they were friends.

Both men were not people given to sentiment. They didn't say much. They preferred to express themselves by their actions instead.

The two drank up the entire bottle of wine in about ten minutes.
