Chapter 917 Because I Care About You

After a moment of silence, Nacy frowned once again. She took a deep breath and then angrily said, "Simon, you do not know Bruce. He is not the kind of man who lives off handouts. I simply wanted to repay him for being such a good friend. Besides, he never asked me to do anything. I think that he has a bright future ahead of him."

Simply by looking at Nacy's face, Simon could tell that the girl was being seriously honest.

Just as Nacy had said, Bruce was a man of talent and independence. While Nacy had truly helped her friend, the most difficult efforts were all made by Bruce himself.

In their world, skill was one's most valuable asset. Coming from a rich family never ensured a person's success.

People had often underestimated Bruce. The man had been poorly treated by his older superiors when he initially got into the Education Bureau, for he was noticeably young for the position. Naturally, his older colleagues hated that. However, Bruce never minded the things said behind his back. All he wanted to do was to prove himself through his actions, and prove that he was worthy of being the Vice Director of the Education Bureau.

During his tenure, Bruce had published two math textbooks for the high school department. That year, he wanted to do something different, so he invested all his time and energy in his career.

It seemed that Bruce valued work over his romantic life.

Bruce majored in math back in the university. He was a very rational man, and he did things in an orderly manner. Everyone in the Education Bureau admired his work ethic.

"Nacy, I did not mean the things I said. I just can't help but feel jealous whenever I see the two of you getting along. After all, I am aware that you used to have a crush on him," Simon explained calmly. He was a very reserved man, but he could no longer keep calm at this moment.

"Nacy, I know it's my fault. Maybe I am just too narrow-minded. I promise that this won't happen again." Simon took a deep breath. He seemed sincere with what he had just said.

Nacy suddenly came up with an idea. The girl smiled and said, "Why don't we spend some time with Bruce? You can befriend him. After all, what happened earlier tonight was a bit too embarrassing. More so, I had always wanted the two of you to be friends. Bruce is almost a brother to me, Simon. I would appreciate it if you stopped treating him like he is your enemy."

"Okay then, I will do whatever you say. That's not because I want to make peace with him, but because I care about you and I value your opinion," Simon said dearly.

Nancy was so happy that she could jump over the moon. She held Simon's arms as they walked down the hotel isle.

The dinner party had officially begun, and Juan had finished his speech.

Nathan and Mandy were already seated at their table, at which there were more than a dozen elderly entrepreneurs. Nathan was surrounded by elders like the moon was surrounded by the stars.
