Chapter 910 Be Strong

Name:Billionaire's Gift Author:Rabbit
"Monica..." Monica's words landed like throwing knives in Malcolm's heart. He could not help reflecting about himself. Was he really that bad to her?

Monica laughed mirthlessly. "You don't have to feel sorry for me just because I'm sick. At least I know everything to be true now. There's no place for me in your heart. It forever belongs to her, and I'm just a stepping stone. You only married me to help your career. Binding yourself to me was a great deal for you," Monica said calmly.

She did not want to talk to Malcolm about her condition, so she tried her best to hide it from him.

She did not expect that Fiona would spill the beans so soon, but she did not blame her. After all, her condition worsened day by day, and she was bound to be exposed sooner or later.

"You still don't believe me? Since I promised to be a good husband to you, I've been devoted to you. Can't you see that?" Malcolm said in a slightly dissatisfied tone.

Looking at Malcolm, Monica hesitated for a moment. She could not understand why she still cared so much. It was not like there was anything anyone could do about her illness. She did not have much time left. All those years she had been married to Malcolm, all she had hoped for was that he would eventually learn to love her and care for her.

"I need you to promise me something, Malcolm," Monica said sternly, dodging Malcolm's question altogether. Her thin lips started trembling. The only thing she would insist on through her entire ordeal was that she not be hospitalized.

The hospital was like a cage. Once she was in, there was no way out. Even though she was afraid of death, she would rather face it at home.

Malcolm vaguely guessed what Monica was going to say. He frowned and replied with a bitter smile, "What is it?"

Malcolm thought that if Monica had any requests other than giving up her treatment, he would definitely make them happen for her.

"I will see a specialist and agree to alternative, noninvasive treatment, but I refuse to be hospital

to finally stick. In enduring all the pain, she had become truly strong.

'It's not that I don't feel pain. I just endure it silently,' Monica answered Malcolm in her heart.

With a smile on her face, she nodded and said, "What if the doctor says I will die soon? Will you give up then?"

Monica did not know exactly how much time she had left, but she knew that her body deteriorated day by day.

"Real doctors won't say something like that. Only quacks will. Don't worry." Malcolm's face was stiff, and he felt bitter in his heart. Deep down, he knew he was still in denial about all this.

Monica smiled. She knew that Malcolm was just comforting her and himself. Malcolm simply was not able to accept the facts just yet. She could understand how he felt at the moment. In order to make Malcolm give up completely, Monica said, "Okay. I will go to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow."

"Which hospital did you go to last time? Maybe the doctor made a mistake," Malcolm said anxiously.

Monica nodded and looked at Malcolm with clear eyes. She felt that Malcolm was being a child right now and not a general at all.

In the past, Monica used to joke with Malcolm and say, "After you retire, take me to travel around the world, okay?" Malcolm never made her any promises. He just said that they would talk about it after he retired.
