Ethon's eyes darkened. He was not a fool. The man immediately realized that Fiona was hiding something from him.

"It depends, of course. If you've crossed the line, then clearly I will be very angry." Ethon suddenly grew stern, ebbing from his initial gentleness.

'Oh my God, he is horribly serious,' Fiona thought. She kept her silence for a few seconds and then decided not to reveal Monica's condition just yet. It would be better if Monica told her son on her own.

"I see," Fiona murmured.

"Honey, what are you hiding from me?" Ethon stared at Fiona with a probing look.

"I… I am not hiding anything from you. What… What would I be hiding?" Fiona stammered helplessly. She would stammer every time she was nervous, which Ethon was fully aware of.

Fiona was truly an honest girl. She was never good at telling lies. Whenever she tried to lie, she would somehow find herself smiling awkwardly or stammering with her head down. Ethon could clearly read her with a single glance.

"We both know you are lying, Fiona. Tell me what happened. This will be your last chance to do so. Please be honest. I promise I won't be angry." The man's mouth twitched as he spoke. Ethon was really uncomfortable at being kept in the dark.

"I… I'm sorry, Ethon, but I'm afraid I can't tell you." Fiona bit her lips and clenched her fists. She knew that Monica would not appreciate it if she had told Ethon. Fiona had no plans to ruin her relationship with her mother-in-law, especially now that they were seamlessly getting along.

Fiona shook her head and said nervously, "Ethon, you promised me you would remain calm. Where are you going?"

"My mother has cancer! How in the hell can I remain calm? Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Ethon's anger was building up. He frowned as he looked sharply at Fiona.

Ethon's behavior was exceptionally unusual for Fiona. The girl bit her lips and innocently said, "I just found out about it yesterday."

If only it were good news, then she did not need to hide it from him. Things were really not her fault. Fiona felt disappointed with the way Ethon was acting.

Seeing the look on Fiona's face, Ethon's restless heart suddenly calmed down. He took a deep breath and composed himself a little.

Ethon sat down, pursed his lips and apologized to Fiona. The man said, "Nana, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have lost my temper at you. I don't know what occurred to me. I didn't mean to blame you. I was just really worried about my mother..."

He felt very sorry as he wasn't one to lose his calm. No wonder Monica always said that he was childish. The old lady was right all along.
