"Mm..." Mandy hesitated as she cast a worried glance at Nathan, who just hung up his call.

She didn't know what was going on, but she certainly could perceive that something was wrong. Mandy nervously asked him, "What's wrong?"

The way Nathan was talking over the phone, it was evident that something serious had happened and that made Mandy really nervous.

"Oh, it's nothing for you to worry about. There is some issue at the construction site at the south section of our business. I'm going there to see it myself. I'll ask Serge to drive you home. Okay?" Nathan didn't want to worry Mandy. So, he calmly stated this to assure her.

"No, I want to go with you," Mandy immediately requested and reached for Nathan. She caught a hold of Nathan's hand as a sense of foreboding settled in her gut.

"Oh, don't bother, Mandy. You must be exhausted after the long flight. You should go home and take a rest. I'll come back as soon as I finish my work," Nathan insisted. He didn't want Mandy to come with him. If Mandy went with him to the construction site, she'd definitely be terrified at confronting the bloody scene that was happening there.

So, after Mandy reluctantly accepted his decision and went with Serge, Nathan arrived at the construction site of the south section. Fred had already filled him in by explaining the current situation on their way. It turned out that the construction department had defaulted on the wages of migrant rural workers. The daughter of one of the migrant rural workers had been diagnosed with leukemia, and the worker was desperate for money. So, he had no other option but to opt for a suicide attempt.

The crowd had been cleared away by the time Nathan's car arrived at the scene. There were still some reporters with cameras in their hands, who wanted to take photos of him and the bloody scene happening at the top floor. As soon as Nathan got out of his car, he was besieged by these reporters from all directions.

"Mr. Jin, did JS International have any problem in clearing up the wage arrears of migrant rural workers?" one reporter threw the burning question at him.

Another reporter chimed in, "JS International has always been so considerate towards its workers and paying their wages on time. What happened now? Mr. Jin, could you tell us the details about the incident?"

"I heard that you have been gone to enjoy your honeymoon with your wife, Mr. Jin. Did you come here as soon as you learned about the accident?" another one inquired.

"Mr. Jin, what are you going to do about this matter?" They fired at him with question after question.

However, soon a bunch of policemen rushed over to Nathan, guarding him against the reporters. They blocked those reporters from coming near Nathan and bomb

stated, "Mr. Jin, we have been unable to control the situation even now."

Nathan's eyes flew towards the suicidal worker, who, at the moment, was standing so close to the edge of the terrace. He was crying out desperately, "How heartless you are! Has your conscience been eaten by a dog? How could you embezzle our hard-earned money? You'll pay for this!"

Nathan rushed towards him. "Calm down, please. JS International has never defaulted on the wages of migrant rural workers. I don't know how much money the construction company owed you. But I will pay you as much as you need. Here it is—one million dollars. Is it enough for you?" Nathan spoke loudly to the worker.

The suicidal migrant rural worker turned around and noticed Nathan was standing behind him. He looked at him incredulously. The thirty years old, dark-skinned worker blinked at Nathan. At first, he thought he was getting tricked. He hesitated for a few seconds before blurting, "I don't believe you! It must be fake money! A moment ago, you were not even willing to give me my hard-earned wage of fifty thousand. But now, how can you give me one million just like that?"

Nathan assured him, speaking loudly, "It's real money, trust me! Come down first and see it yourself. What you're doing now is very dangerous." Nathan frowned when the wind howled in his ears. Up on the terrace, the wind always blew so strong. Nathan could understand the emotions this worker was feeling from the bottom of his heart.

"Okay, fine. You throw me the money first. Then I will trust you," the suicidal worker threatened, staring doubtfully at Nathan.

Nathan agreed immediately. When he was about to throw the money to him, the migrant rural worker stopped him, "Wait a minute, you hand me the money in person. If you dare to cheat me, I will die today, taking you with me!"
