Chapter 598 I Have Been With Her For Three Years

"Mand, just let her stay here. Her teacher said she would be able to adapt to her new environment in two weeks." Colin frowned before he took a step forward.

"Lisa, do you like it here?" Ignoring what Colin had just said, Mandy asked Lisa with an encouraging smile.

Lisa shook her head. She didn't like staying here at all. She was just old enough to get into kindergarten. But she was still young and small enough to get intimidated by her new environment.

"How about I take you to your favorite kindergarten?" Mandy tried to smile for Lisa. But deep inside, she was worried they would run into Adrian here. If Adrian was studying here, Lisa couldn't go to school here. It would be embarrassing for them to run into each other when picking up the kids.

Colin frowned as he looked at Mandy thoughtfully. Just then, he realized what happened here. He pressed his lips together and didn't say anything.

Mandy's presence here meant Adrian must be studying here, too. In order to protect his daughter, he must move her to another place. That would be the best choice for everyone involved.

"Mom, where have you been? I missed you so much," Lisa said with a smile, her soft little hands encircling Mandy's neck. Her big shining eyes glittered.

"I went to work. Lisa, did you listen to your father while I was away?" Mandy said, gritting her teeth as discreetly as she could. A trace of self-blame flashed across her clear eyes.

Lisa had always been dependent on Mandy. The little girl treated her as if she were her real mother, and for Mandy, it didn't matter that Lisa was not biologically hers. When Nathan was hospitalized some time ago, she wasn't able to call Lisa. But even then, she couldn't abandon Lisa.

"Yes, I have been a good girl. Mom, I want to go to the seaside. Didn't you promise me before?"

"And we will. But first, we have to choose a kindergarten. Lisa, you can't refuse to go to school tomorrow, okay?" Looking a

l help with the tuition, too. Can you please talk to the teacher?"

"Okay, go ahead." He looked at Mandy and felt his heart beating fast.

"Honey, have you arrived at the company yet?" Nathan said in a charming voice as he reclined on his bed.

He had not seen Mandy for a few hours and had begun to miss her.

"Not yet. I met Lisa at Adrian's kindergarten. She kept crying. Colin and I took her to another one. I am with her at another school now." Mandy chose a quiet spot in the corridor to carry on her phone conversation. Her heart was beating faster like she had done something wrong.

The person on the other line remained quiet.

If it was not for the phone still being connected, she would have thought that Nathan had hung up.

She sighed and said in a somewhat wistful tone, "Nathan, don't be angry. I know I shouldn't be like this. I should have been indifferent to her. But seeing her cry, I really don't want her to leave me. After all, she is still so young. She doesn't know anything. And she shouldn't pay for my selfishness. She called me mom since she was born. I've been with her for three years, and it was the only life I've been accustomed to. I'm really missing her these days. I may come back late tonight. I can't go with you to pick up Adrian from school today."
