Chapter 596 Eve Staked Her Life On The Plan

Eve smirked at Yolande as she entered the room, her chin raised arrogantly.

"Colin, your office looks magnificent!" she said, her eyes roaming around in appreciation. Her previous expression of contempt dissolved into a slow, pleased grin.

"Thank you for your compliment. Would you like a drink, Miss Su?" Colin pressed the speaker button on the phone and asked Yolande to come.

She came to the office efficiently, bearing a professional smile, and calmly waited for instructions.

"I'd like a cup of coffee with less sugar and milk," Eve said and gave a quick sideways glance at Yolande.

"How about you, Mr. Yu?" Yolande asked, facing Colin.

Her boss recently got discharged from the hospital. From what she gathered, some food and drinks should be avoided, including coffee.

"Coffee, please."

"Mr. Yu, you have not fully recovered yet. I think it would be better for you not to have coffee," she said and hesitated, regarding him cautiously.

Her words conjured Mandy's smiling face in Colin's mind, and he fell in a daze. When he and Mandy were still a couple, she had always reminded him to take good care of himself. She had also discouraged him from smoking and drinking coffee and told him every day to get enough sleep.

Not that Colin was a heavy smoker, but it was difficult to avoid smoking at work, especially during business functions. Offering a cigarette was a typical gesture of camaraderie among his peers. Declining from a potential business partner could be detrimental to the deal and could be interpreted as a weakness. It was rare for men not to smoke nowadays, after all. Gradually, it became a habit. But Mandy did not approve, so he took extra care to hide it from her.

However, she had discovered and had kept a close eye on him ever since. She would even smell him sometimes! Her nose was so sensitive that she could guess the brand of a cigarette just by its scent.

"Hmm... A glass of water then." Colin cleared his throat when he retur

a promise!" she said, ever politely.

"Why do you need my help?"

"Because you are the only man who can help me. To tell you honestly, you want Mandy and I want Nathan. That's where our mutual interest lies. So how about we work together instead and help each other get what we want?"

Colin thought for a few moments. Finally, he bent. With gritted teeth, he said, "Okay. But you better not touch a hair on her head."

"Absolutely! Nathan is my only target. If you take Mandy out of City A and go somewhere else to live, then I can guarantee that she will be safe."

"It's a deal then! I will try my best to help you, but you have to keep your end of the deal. Besides, she must never know about this." Colin extended his arm and accepted the cheque.

"You need not worry. I will not tell anyone as long as you don't betray me. It's only between you, me, and the four walls of your office!"

Colin clenched his jaw with a determined look. He swore to himself that he would make a comeback.

'Sure enough, money is the best thing in the world. Who would dare say no?' Eve thought, smiling like the little devil that she was.

Her whole life was staked on the plan. If she succeeded, everything Nathan had would be hers. Otherwise, all of her efforts and money would go down the drain. Losing was not an option.
