Chapter 428 I'll Pay It Using My Credit Card

"Oh... But how did you know that I can play the piano?" Mandy countered in a lazy drawl.

"You know, a man pays special attention to the woman he likes," Damian remarked. His tone betrayed a touch of sarcasm.

"Do you like me?" Mandy asked as the corner of her mouth twitched. She almost scrunched her face at Damian's words.

"Can't I?" Damian dodged.

"Of course, you can't! I'm married now!" Mandy frowned and said indignantly.

"Okay, okay. I know you are Mrs. Jin now. You don't have to say it again over and over again. I was just kidding anyway," Damian replied. It was hard to tell whether he was kidding or not.

"That's more like it. Don't tease me like this from now on. If anyone hears you say these things, who knows what they would think," Mandy mumbled.

"What for? Are you afraid Nathan would hear about us?" Damian teased as he raised one of his eyebrows at her.

"That won't happen, and you don't want to make it happen. Even if it does happen, it won't end well. So, you'd better not joke about such things." Mandy smiled.

"It hasn't happened. How do you know it won't happen?"

"I know it won't happen because I won't let it happen!" Mandy snapped. She was playing with fire with Damian.

Luckily, Damian was level-headed and practical. If he were a stranger, he would have been pissed off by Mandy's game. But he understood what she was thinking, so he just kept driving with a smile on his face.

At the Roberts Piano Store

The black Land Rover pulled in at the curb before a young man and a young woman jumped out of it.

The Roberts Piano Store had been City A for 30 years now. Its owner was a piano tutor who had trained Mandy once. Mandy could still remember her first piano was bought right here, costing more than five hundred thousand dollars. Her parents, Stanley and Madeline, always gave the most precious things to Mandy.

After the car accident, Mandy had promised not to play piano anymore. Even though it broke her heart, she had asked her father to sell her piano.

Mandy stepped inside the piano store and immediately heard music. Light, airy music that touched her heart immediately. A

layed the 'Canon in D-major' without any pause.

"How many years have passed since you last played the piano, Mand?" Mr. Lu asked, looking at Mandy in surprise.

"Oh, more than four years."

"It looks like you didn't forget it at all. I heard from your mother that they sold the piano after you went abroad."

"Yeah, something happened then," Mandy briefly explained as she moved her fingers away the keys.

"There'll be a wildcard show before the Midsummer Night's Dream piano competition final. Contestants who failed to make it to the finals would be invited back to perform for another chance at a spot in the finals. I think you should participate in it. You know, you're capable enough to get through to the finals," Mr. Lu suggested with a happy smile.

After a minute of silence, Mandy opened her eyes. "Oddly enough, that is precisely what I plan," she said seriously as she nodded in agreement.

"That' it! We're taking the piano. I'll pay it using my credit card!" Damian interrupted as he pointed his finger at the McAllen piano. He then fished out a black card from his wallet.

"Wait... Wait a minute. I didn't say I want this piano," Mandy stopped Damian. The McAllen piano cost 800 thousand dollars. It was a large amount of money!

"I'll pay for it. Why are you so nervous?" Damian said. He knew she was cash-strapped to buy it. So he offered to buy it for her. It was the least he could do for her.
