Mandy was just stunned at the confession, her face emotionless and glassy from the outburst.

"Nathan wouldn't do that!" she exclaimed. Out of everything that had gone through her mind that day, the thought of Nathan leaving her was an absolute no. That was for sure.

He laughed. "Is there really anything he wouldn't do? I mean you got pregnant before marriage didn't you? And he still hasn't proposed yet? What do you think will happen?" His words were already turning into heated replies. The delicateness of his voice was gone, replaced with one of a known prosecutor. Veins were already throbbing out on his forehead.

"That's different." Mandy fluttered her eyelashes, finding it difficult now to breathe from the pressure. She pressed her hand against her chest.

"The man's irresponsible. Tell me, did he propose?" he stated point by point, his eyes already filled with fury and discontent on why she couldn't get it.

Although Mandy didn't really know his true intentions as to why he was interrogating her like this, what he had said did make a point.

"That's between the both of us," she snapped. However, her silence on this topic had already proven his point.

"You shouldn't find any excuses for him anymore. You'll regret it, Mand. Please, stop it. Both of you are from two different worlds." He was so agitated that he placed both his hands on Mandy's shoulder, shaking her. "You just don't fit."

Although she didn't want to admit it, he was right.

Suddenly, a tall and strong figure appeared at the ward door. He stopped, allowing himself to catch his breath.

He was holding a serving of sushi, a set of chopsticks, and a bowl of porridge in his hand. He had walked a long way to buy them. It was late in the afternoon, and he thought that porridge alone might not be sufficient, so he went a few extra miles to get her the sushi.

However, just as he was reaching for the handle of the door, he heard a voice.

Nathan sneered when he recognized it, wondering what Colin was saying to her.

He turned the doorknob and pushed the door open. Soon, the anger in his face faded away as a smile knitted itself onto his lips.

"Prosecutor Colin," Nathan addressed him respectfully.

Nathan seldom did so.

His gaze fell on the container that Colin had brought, realizing that while he was gone, Mandy had already eaten.
