"Why would you quit for no reason?" Damian was not ready to give up.

"You are being too nosy! I'm telling you for the hundredth time, this is my private business. Curiosity killed the cat, you know?" Mandy snorted, clearly annoyed by Damian's interrogation. She walked to her car, opened the door, and placed the medical box on the passenger seat.

"Oh, I'd happily die for you," Damian said seriously before quickly changing his expression. He leaned forward, and a wicked grin stretched across his face.

Mandy quickly stepped back and glared at him. "Stay away from me. Don't you dare come any closer."

"Come on, Mandy. You allow Nathan to touch you. Why are you treating me like a pervert if I come a little closer?'' Damian's words were coated with jealousy.

"That's enough! I have a surgery in the afternoon. I have to go now." Mandy walked to the driver's seat to put an end to Damian's torture.

"Do you really hate me, Mandy?" Damian closed his eyes and slouched his shoulders, looking defeated.

"That's a great comeback. You should have become a lawyer," Damian smirked.

"You too!" Mandy rolled her eyes and tried to put an end to the conversation. He was getting on her nerves.

"If you don't tell me why you quit the job, I will chase you every day to the hospital and annoy the shit out of you until you tell me." Damian stepped forward, preventing Mandy from entering the car.

She scrunched her nose in disgust. Anger rose from the pit of her stomach.

"Why the hell should I tell you?" "Because I care about you," Damian stated matter-of-factly.

"We are good friends who care about each other. What's wrong with that?" Mandy s

"Hello."

"Mandy is unwell. She is at the hospital," Damian said.

"What? Which hospital?" Nathan threw the pen away, quickly grabbed his keys, and rushed out. His heart was pounding, and he sped out at once.

Damian disconnected the call and leaned against the wall.

The corridor was pin-drop-silent, except for the occasional footsteps of the nurses going for rounds.

The sound of rapid footsteps echoed in the silent hallway. Nathan paused for a second when he saw Damian from a distance, and then he continued to run towards him.

"Wow! Godspeed! I didn't expect you to come this early," Damian smirked.

"You bastard, what the hell did you do to her? What were you doing with her?" Nathan was shaking with rage as the nerve on his forehead popped out. He grabbed Damian by the collar and growled.

"You don't trust your girl? You are a prick, Nathan Jin." Damian shoved Nathan's hands away as a lopsided grin spread across his face, which made Nathan furious.
