Chapter 244 Being Fooled

"I've called the police. They're on their way. If you don't want to end up in jail, you'd better let her go now," Bruce said sternly as he held up his phone.

The moment he got out of his car, Bruce saw what was happening and quickly rushed to the scene.

It was a lie that he was able to call the police, but he had to think on his feet. As a smart and vigilant man, Bruce was able to bluff very convincingly.

"Bruce!" Mandy cried out. Her eyes, which were filled with desperation, now held a glimmer of hope at the sight of Bruce.

There was no way Bruce was going to let anyone hurt Mandy, even if he had to risk his own life!

"Mr. Lin, what should we do now?" The man in black was scared out of his wits when he heard that the police were coming. After all, they were breaking the law and committing crime.

There was a bit of anger in Justin's gray eyes. 'Damn it! Someone dared to spoil my good plan!' Justin scolded in his heart.

He gritted his teeth in anger, but it didn't look as if he was about to give Mandy up.

"This is a high-end private community. I'm pretty sure law enforcement in this area is one of the best in the entire city. In another minute or two, I can assure you that they would have blocked off all the entryways by now. If you are still foolishly confident in your ploy, take her away at your own risk," Bruce continued to threaten, not even stuttering once.

"Let's go," Justin said in a low voice, with a pissed-off sneer on his face. 'Shit. It can't be helped. What bad luck!' he thought.

After releasing Mandy, they got back into the car and quickly drove off. At that moment, Mandy heaved a sigh of relief. She felt that she was about to faint.

'I was almost just kidnapped!' Mandy thought. 'Bruce... It's a good thing he came just in time...'

Bruce rushed over to Mandy, putting an arm around her to keep her steady. "Are you okay, Mand? Did they hurt you?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.

Mandy shook her head and forced a stiff smile. "No. But if it weren't for you, they might have by now. Why did you come here in th

ild. Have you eaten yet? How about having dinner here?" Stanley asked with enthusiasm.

"Well, thank you," Bruce said happily.

"Okay. Let's have dinner and then play chess together. What do you say?" Stanley said and patted Bruce on the shoulder. He liked playing chess very much.

"Yes, of course. Where's Auntie?" asked Bruce.

"She's in the kitchen."

"I'll just go and say hello to her."

Mandy and Bruce went to the kitchen together. Upon getting there, they saw Fiona and Madeline quietly cooking. It was such a calm scene to look at.

"Hello, Auntie," Bruce greeted with a smile.

Hearing the voice, Madeline turned around and saw a young man standing next to Mandy. The man looked like he was in his mid-twenties. Madeline was a little nearsighted. She couldn't recognize that the man was Bruce.

Seeing her mother's confused face, Mandy smiled. "Mom, this is Bruce."

"What? Bruce? Oh, my God! You have gotten so handsome!" Madeline gasped, and her eyes were filled with surprise.

"Well, I'm very glad to hear that compliment, Auntie," Bruce chuckled, beaming from ear to ear.

"Mr. Xu?" Fiona turned around too and was both surprised and delighted at the sight of him!

"Mr. Xu? Is he one of your teachers, Fiona?" Madeline asked in confusion.

"Yes! Actually, I just recently found out myself. Mr. Xu is my head teacher," Fiona explained with a smile.
