At No. 1 Hospital

The sun outside the window was glowing low in the sky, washing the whole city with orange hues. With a low groan, Mandy's eyelids fluttered and opened.

The familiar smell of disinfectant wafted to her senses. Even though she had just woken up, she felt so tired. She furrowed her eyebrows, feeling incredibly dizzy.

Looking around, Mandy found that she was the only one in the ward. 'Nathan's not here. Nobody's here," she thought. Then a heavy sadness washed over her as if she had fallen into a dark and endless abyss.

Recalling the events that occurred before she fainted, Mandy remembered Nathan driving back. It was like a small flame of hope was ignited, emitting a weak light. But it looked like it was no match for the heavy snow.

With a sigh, Mandy propped up into a sitting position. 'This is a nice room, ' she thought to herself as she looked around. 'I'm probably in the VIP ward.'

Suddenly, Mandy noticed a yellow note pressed under a glass on the nightstand. She quickly moved the glass away and took the note in her hand.

Mandy's beautiful eyebrows frowned more tightly. She loosened her hand and gently smoothed out the paper.

The handwriting on the note was bold and fluent. It was undeniably Nathan's handwriting.

The note read, "I'm on a business trip to America now. I won't be back for about a week. Let's separate for a while, but don't expect me to let you go. Wait for me to come back. The doctor said that you've got sunstroke. You'd better rest at home while I'm gone. I've already asked for leave for you at the hospital."

"Wha... What the hell?" Mandy muttered to herself, after reading the note. The anger, grievance, and sadness she was feeling turned into hot tears in her eyes.

Fortunately, Nathan hadn't really broken up with Mandy. Otherwise, Mandy wouldn't know what to do but break down right there. Her grip tightened on the note, wrinkling the note's edges. "You are such a bad guy, Nathan..."

Meanwhile, a magnificent private jet flew high above the clouds. A man in a white shirt attentively wat

lone for too long.'

However, it had been a long time since Mandy had visited her parents last.

Mandy hesitated for a while and replied, "I will probably keep Lillian company as soon as I can."

Meanwhile, Nathan looked closely at the expression on Mandy's face and instantly guessed what she was thinking about at that moment. "Don't worry about Lillian. She can take care of herself. Just do what you want to do," he messaged.

Taking a deep breath, Mandy tried to relax herself a bit. "Okay. I'll talk to you soon," she typed on her phone.

After being discharged from the hospital, Mandy took her things and went straight to MC Garden.

As the taxi drove along the road, Mandy decided to call Lillian.

Lillian had just returned home from buying some food outside. When she heard the phone ringing, she quickly rushed to it and put the receiver to her ear. "Hello?" she said, her voice sweet and polite.

"Hi, Lillian. It's me. Nathan will be on a business trip for a week, and I'll stay home for a few days. Will you be alright by yourself?" Mandy asked as she stared out the window.

"Of course, I will be, Miss Zhou. Do what you want to do. I'm fine here! Don't worry about me," Lillian said happily. However, there was indeed a little sadness in her heart. Since she had no other family in this world, the only people she had in her life were Mandy and Nathan.
