Chapter 191 Let Go While You Can

"It's no one else but your own sister," Simon said each word carefully, as if to further assert how serious he was about it.

"Forget about it! Simon, I'm sorry to tell you this, but you need to live the single life once more. Besides, my sister isn't stupid enough to get involved with a man who's engaged!" Nathan retorted.

"Fine, fine. Everything's suddenly so much more complicated when it concerns your family, isn't it?" Simon said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes.

"I'm not kidding around, Simon. I'm not saying all of this just because Nacy is related to me. You need to do some serious thinking and act while you still can. It's not as hard as you think it is." Nathan kept his eyes fixated at Simon, the expression on his face hard and tough.

"Well, I want to ask you the same thing. How do you really feel about Mandy? Have you even thought about your business recently, Nathan? If I were you, I'd take your own advice and act while I still can. I just can't see any logic in your relationship with her!" Simon let out a deep sigh as he shook his head. 'Mandy... I feel so sorry for the stupid, innocent girl. She was never supposed to get involved with these hideous matters in the first place!' he thought.

For a while, Nathan said nothing, and he just stared blankly at Simon. Then, his lips turned up slightly to a smirk as he chuckled lightly. "How would you know how I feel about Mandy? Has it ever occurred to you that maybe I'm serious about her?"

"Wow, Nathan! I can't believe I'm hearing this from you. Have you forgotten about what happened to you in the past? Did you get over that already? How can you even be entirely sure?" There wasn't any banter in Simon's tone. He was sincerely worried about his friend. Simon could still remember how Nathan came to his house one night–he had looked like a man who had lost his sanity to love, and all of his sensibilities were completely stripped away from him. It was a scene that had truly frightened Simon.

On the other hand, Simon understood what Nathan was trying to say to him. He himself was well aware of the repercussions of being with Nacy, and understood the possibility that she might suddenly decide to leave him. Even though Simon's heart ached at the thought, he knew there was little he could do. His engagement with Bonnie had been decided on by their families. Simon's parents were traveling around the world. If he broke off his engagement with Bonnie, his parents would undoubtedly fly back in a heartbeat and beat him up until he changed his mind, even though he was a grown man!

'I'm so stupid for getting myself into this mess!' Simon thought disdainfully. When he had agreed to the engagement, he did it because he was holding onto the slight possibility that Nacy might suddenly take an interest in him. He was getting tired of leaving his heart hanging because of her, especially since she had never shown any signs that she wanted to settle down. It was a long shot, but Simon thought that his engagement with Bonnie might force Nacy to make her decision if she truly cared about him. However, things didn't advance the way he had planned. Nacy hadn't made any comments on his engagement, at least not in fron

up in JS International in a simple, white dress. Nowadays, she kept her appearance plain and always had an amiable smile on her face.

When she walked in Nathan's office, Simon was there with Nathan. They were busily talking about the possibility of buying the piece of land Nathan was interested in. When Simon saw Ever enter, he raised his eyebrows and gave Nathan a quick wink.

"Hey, Nathan! Hey, Simon!" Eve greeted in a sweet voice as she carried a number of lunchboxes in her hands.

Clearing his throat, Simon stole a glance at her and then raised his wrist to look at his watch. "Oh, it's lunchtime already. I'd better go. Hey, Eve. I'll see you later, Nathan!"

Nathan nodded at him with a laugh as Simon headed out the door.

Simon wasn't so dense not to sense what was going on between Nathan and Eve. Seeing Eve show up here made it clear enough that she and Nathan were at a good place right now. Although Simon had no idea what was going in Nathan's mind, he figured that he should just not meddle in someone else's business.

Meanwhile, Nathan had expected that Eve would drop by at this time and greeted her with a smile. Even if he was treating her kindly, it didn't mean that he'd accepted her. The only reason he allowed her to be around was that he needed something from her. That was all.

"I believe you haven't had your lunch, Nathan. Here, I brought something yummy for you!" Eve said as she walked up to Nathan, a big and bright smile on her face.

As she approached, Nathan squinted his eyes. It was obvious that Eve had dressed very much like Mandy recently. She no longer wore red lipstick, but wore simple and elegant makeup instead, making her look more feminine.

Eve stopped at the tea table and put the lunch boxes there. Then, she walked over to Nathan and wrapped her arms around his waist, softly resting her head on his chest to listen to his heartbeat.

Feeling his warmth made Eve feel at ease as if a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

"What did you bring? Show me. I'm starving," Nathan asked. He pushed her away from him a little and led her to sit down on the couch.
