Chapter 189 A Sense Of Betrayal

Name:Billionaire's Gift Author:Rabbit
Nathan's heart was racing when he heard Mandy's shaky voice. She was crying. His frigid heart melted into a puddle when he heard her cry.

"I'll be back soon. Don't cry." A frown lined Nathan's forehead, and his tight face was filled with concern.

Mandy sniffled over the phone and wiped her tears as resentment settled in the pit of her stomach. "I'm not crying," she said, trying to sound strong. She bit her lips and tried to suppress her tears.

A young couple walked past her, laughing their hearts out. Nathan heard their voices over the phone.

'Isn't she home? Where is she at this hour?' Nathan thought, and his heart began to race faster.

"Where are you?" Nathan turned on the phone's voice amplification function and began to search the positioning system on his phone.

"I'm outside." Mandy didn't want to disclose her location. Sadness was consuming her, and she wanted to spend the whole night staring at the black sky.

Moonlight Bay Park was filled with all kinds of people; some were jogging, while others were taking a peaceful stroll, and some were walking with their loved ones. But Mandy had picked a solitary spot, and she was all by herself for hours on end. She didn't want to go home.

Nathan's phone showed that Mandy was at Moonlight Bay Park. He immediately hung up the phone to find her as soon as he could.

When Nathan went back to the living room, he saw that Eve was sitting on the sofa with expectant eyes. When she saw him walking towards her, she quickly averted her gaze and glanced at her watch. "Nathan, it's late. Let's go home," Eve said with a smile.

She had noticed the exasperation in Nathan's eyes, and Claire's words began to ring in her head. "When a man is not in a good mood, let him go. Never be clingy and needy."

Men liked sensible, independent women who respected their feelings.

"It's okay," Eve said in an instant when Nathan was struggling with words to inform her that he was leaving. He arched his eyebrow in appreciation. He didn't expect that Eve would be cool about it.

Eve had certainly become smarter than she was before.

Mandy's vision was gloomy as tears had settled in her eyes, waiting to cascade down her cheeks.

She felt like a huge weight had settled on her heart. She l

boxes, one after the other, and the delicious smell of food wafted in the air. The two boxes had the same food, which was still warm, making Mandy's mouth water.

To Mandy's utter embarrassment, her stomach began to growl loudly.

Nathan understood that Mandy hadn't eaten yet.

"You went to the JS International today, didn't you?" He glanced at Mandy as realization washed over him. Her hesitant eyes were enough to answer his question. He understood what had happened.

"Yes." Mandy bit her lips, looked down and nodded.

"You silly girl. Why didn't you call me?" Nathan was annoyed. Mandy was starving and hadn't eaten anything yet.

The lights of the car revealed Mandy's puffy, red eyes. He understood that Mandy had been crying the whole night, feeling hungry and dejected.

The usual, chirpy Mandy was gone, and the girl sitting in front of him looked sad and depressed.

"Your secretary told me that you were busy, and I didn't want to disturb you," Mandy said softly without lifting her head.

Perhaps it was time for her to think about her status. Others were right. How can a hot, rich man like Nathan fall for a pathetic woman like her?

If they hadn't met each other at the bar, there was not a chance in the world for them to be together now.

Nathan fell into silence as he understood what had happened.

Mandy had come to his office to have dinner with him as he had informed her that he would be working overtime. He couldn't help but feel happy about Mandy's sweet gesture.
