[The beautiful woman smiled at the adorable boy as she heard the Innocent question coming from the boy. “You are right, ChenChen. When you grow up, you should be like your brother. He is strong, and he is also very warm-hearted. You should learn a lot from him,” she replied, and from her voice alone, it sounded like she admired the person she was talking about.

It was a wise statement from the woman, but the boy didn’t seem to understand the woman’s words as he tilted his head in confusion. “What does it mean that my brother is very warm at heart, Mother? He doesn’t want to stay close to me, so I never know if he is warm or not. He didn’t even let me touch his hand to know whether he is warm or not!”

Little Bai Chen just innocently said that his brother didn’t even want to be around him, but it was enough to make his mother smile bitterly at him. “It’s not that your brother doesn’t want to be close to you, ChenChen,” she said. “Your brother is just shy, but you should know that he cares a lot about you. I remember how he looked so happy when you were born. When you grow up, you will be able to tell that he is warm even if he isn’t close to you. You just need to open your heart to him. Do you understand, ChenChen?”

The mother asked if her son could understand or not, but the boy’s blue eyes were still filled with confusion even though she had finished explaining more about the boy’s half-brother. Little Bai Chen still looked confused, and the woman couldn’t help but smile at him.

“Didn’t you say you wanted to fetch water from the river? You should leave now before you get even thirstier,” the woman said, and little Bai Chen’s pair of blue eyes finally lit up after hearing the woman’s words.

.....

“So, I can go to the river myself, Mother?” Asked the boy, and the woman nodded to answer the boy’s question.

Bai Chen squealed happily even though his mother only gave him nonverbal responses, and he immediately ran towards the sound of the river with a water bottle in his left hand. His mother shouted at him, asking him to be careful, but little Bai Chen only giggled cutely as he turned his head slightly and waved at his mother. He didn’t even answer what his mother had just said.

The sound of water flowing on the bedrock became clearer as Bai Chen continued to carry his short legs in a direction. It seemed like he was getting closer to the river, and that was why his legs felt so much lighter as he continued to run.

Even if his mother asked him to be careful, it seemed that the child did not have the word “careful” in his dictionary, and he even increased his running speed when he realized that the river was not far from him.

Finally, the boy’s lips formed an “O” shape as his blue eyes finally caught sight of the river. There was indeed a river with clear water flowing in the forest, but the problem was, it was located in a valley, and that was why the boy was trying to use his brain to get him down into the river.

As he turned his gaze to scan his surroundings, he managed to find a path that would lead him to the river, but he noticed that the path was rocky and quite steep, and there was a hint of fear in his heart as he continued to look for a way.

“But I can’t be scared just because the path is scary! Mother wants me to be like my brother, and that’s why I can’t be scared just because of that!” Little Bai Chen had strong determination, and that was why he nodded once before bringing his feet down the path.

It was indeed a rocky path, and the boy even needed to crouch down so he wouldn’t fall when he tried to walk the path. His free hand even needed to hold on to the rock, and he was very careful when he brought his feet to the river.

And when he finally managed to land his feet on the riverside, he finally smiled proudly. He was able to land safely, and he was sure his mother would be proud of him.

“Well, I look cool like my brother, don’t I? I’m sure my mother will compliment me later,” he continued talking to himself, imagining how his mother would praise him when she found out that he had managed to walk such a dangerous path alone without adult assistance.

Bai Chen cast his eyes on the water, then he walked over to it and crouched down before dipping his hand into the water. His body shivered slightly as he felt the water freeze, and he immediately pulled his hand back while furrowing his brows.

He didn’t even know why the water was so cold, but he didn’t want to think about it because he only cared about his thirst. Therefore, he decided to immediately fill the water bottle with water so he could get back to his mother.

“Mother will be worried if I don’t come back soon, and that’s why I have to get some water now and get back to her as soon as possible,” he nodded because he knew he couldn’t make his mother feel more worried about him.

He was still in a crouched position as he prepared to fill his bottle, but then his blue eyes suddenly caught something floating on the water, and he realized that it looked like a human floating in the middle of a river.

Little Bai Chen gasped as he stood on his two feet again, and he immediately forgot his thirst as he panicked. “Did that person drown? He would die if he drowned in the water, right? What should I do?”]
