“Looks like you’re dead set on claiming full responsibility for this.”

Ye Wang is slightly anxious. The lack of any cooperation or break makes him further and further away from the answer he needs, from Doctor. Never mind even obtaining Doctor’s name from Jian Si, this case is probably going to end up having nothing to do with the Doctor.

Just like the case of Lone Wolf’s suicide——Everyone knows that it was Doctor, but his name was on no file or recorded related to it.

This slight anxiety causes him to try exerting psychological pressure on the guy again, “do you know the consequences of that?”

Jian Si seemingly smiles, unmoved, “the problem is, I did just do it.”

He looks completely at home in Stargaol now. The helpless Bunny is nowhere to be found.

Ye Wang closes his notebook, but he isn’t going to admit defeat just yet, “due to Black Glove’s identity, your murder of him will cause your evaluation to fail and land you on the fifth floor.”

Jian Si remains unemotional, making him believe he does not really understand what it is the bottom floor represents.

If he does, he will know exactly what this is going to entail.

Not only will he wave goodbye to his past, but for the floors before the fifth floor, it was possible to be evaluated as not a danger and be moved closer to the first floor. They could even get sentences commuted for good behaviour.

No prisoner will ever enjoy that privilege on the bottom floor. They are forever tied to lunatics and madmen, until their death.

He can’t help but feel slightly sorry for Jian Si, too. Taken advantage of until the end, with his life ahead completely destroyed now.

There are people in this world who suffer from especially terrible fate, as if they have offended the gods. They have trials and tribulations, but still cannot shake their fate from themselves. Jian Si is clearly one of them.

Compared to Doctor’s impenetrable criminal profile, Jian Si’s actions and thought patterns so far have been easy to examine. Ye Wang has a detailed file on hand regarding Jian Si, enough for him to understand who Jian Si is from all perspectives.

An innocent citizen who was set up to take the blame. An actual threatened bunny taken advantage of and sent where he shouldn’t be.

On the fourth floor, such people either die early or end up part of Stargaol proper after countless times brushing against death.

He thought he would be the former, but now, it seems he’s gone with the latter option.

Yet it’s difficult to say which of those two ends is better.

To die clean? Or assimilated into the abyss, become another monster, and then die in deserved loathing?

“You might not know yet what terrible path you’ve set yourself on, but you will come to learn…” Ye Wang is staring at Jian Si with pity, “the end awaiting those who walk with Doctor eventually.”

‘Knock knock’ comes the knocking on the cell door.

Ye Wang turns his head to the door, furrowing his brow in reflex——Prison officers know not to knock and disturb him, which leaves…

“Ye Wang…” His radio is coming through.

Ye Wang looks back at Jian Si with a grim expression.

“Ye Wang, Doctor has come to see you.” The voice is trembling a little, “he’s at the door.”

Ye Wang sighs. He can practically see how the officer would look in front of Jiang Yiyi – fearful and literally would rather be anywhere else.

An odd thing, too, since Doctor hasn’t actually done anything——At least, on the fourth floor, and so far.

However, most people still instinctually know to be respectful and fearful of him… like some kind of innate sixth sense.

Ye Wang hasn’t realised at all he’s one to talk when he has turned completely alert and defensive.

“I see. You are excused.” Ye Wang cuts the call and stares at the door for a few seconds.

Jian Si was watching his whole series of reactions, and finally, he smiles. The smile resembles the pure beam of joy that was Bunny, but what he is saying ruins it all.

“You seem to be nervous.” Jian Si’s little canines are poking out. His obstinate refusal to talk is nowhere to be seen. He’s friendly——In a schadenfreude sort of way, “that prison officer behind you is not here anymore. Wouldn’t it be dangerous if you talked to Doctor alone?”

Ye Wang subconsciously glances backwards where Magician was, only realising it when he makes the movement; his head comically stops turning halfway as he stares back at Jian Si.

Jian Si has his answer from the man’s reaction, “you are quite worried I see.”

Ye Wang’s face turns cold as he walks to the door and scans the cell door open.

Jiang Yiyi, quietly waiting outside, observes Ye Wang closely.

‘Restlessness,’ ‘Anxiety,’ ‘Worry,’ ‘Fear,’ ‘Anger’…

Quite a lot of labels there on his face.

Ye Wang finds himself cowering a little in the presence of the prying gaze——Especially without Magician around.

While his rational side is adamant he wouldn’t do anything, as he never leaves incriminating evidence against himself, a subconscious reaction cannot be stopped.

“Doctor, what are you doing here?”

Jiang Yiyi’s gaze passes over him and looks around the interrogation room, “picking someone up.”

Ye Wang forces himself not to look back at Jian Si by impulse, “I’m still questioning…”

“Still not done yet?” Jiang Yiyi stops looking around and asks Ye Wang, “where is Magician?”

Jiang Yiyi is asking with such an authoritative tone it almost convinces one to answer him promptly.

Thankfully, as a professionally trained and vetted Coordinator, Ye Wang manages to pick up the pieces of his authority as one after a couple seconds of silence, “you do know you are interfering with the normal interrogation process of Stargaol, right?”

Jiang Yiyi raises his brow slightly, but before he can say anything, Jian Si speaks up.

“As I recall, your questioning is already over?” Jian Si stands up, walks from the table, past Ye Wang, and back behind Jiang Yiyi.
