Lin Yi, seeing the guy, thinks he realises why Lion and Black Glove are fighting over him.

He is beautiful. So beautiful, that any possible action he takes is worthy to be painted and immortalised for eternity. He is enchantingly dazzling under light. He is an artefact of divine creation. He looks like he’s in a wholly different art style from the whole of Stargaol.

Where he stands, light follows. All the darkness and shadows seem to shrink into nothing in his light.

Lin Yi realises he has been staring for too long. He is no longer observing him. He is admiring him.

He has to force himself to take his eyes off of him – moving onto the prominent bruise on his neck——Fresh. Human fingers. It is easy to imagine how he was strangled by a hand not long ago, close to death.

How did the fourth floor have…

Lin Yi is at a loss for words. He is good-looking, to a degree that causes one to temporarily lose focus when seeing. Of course, he isn’t beautiful to a degree beyond human imagination, but that is only part of the picture.

What one cannot take their eyes away from, is the impression he imparts.

Pure? Harmless? Lost? Angelic?

Lin Yi is going through countless adjectives in his mind, which are still inadequate in describing how he makes others feel.

It is quiet after the person emerges.

Old Coyote does not seem surprised at the bruise at all; he is now looking at Lin Yi instead.

Lion is knitting his brows while glaring at his neck.

Lin Yi, the only person seeing him for the first time, manages to quickly calm down after some unavoidable emotional fluctuations.

As he has put Doctor’s face first and foremost in his mind, and all urges cease. His reasoning is with him once more.

Now, never mind a beautiful person. Even if he were to undress and start pole-dancing in front of him, he would not even bat an eye.

He has once faced off against Doctor’s threat in full force. It was a blade against his neck. A shadow against his back. A being shadowing meagre mortals.

Love? Life? Struggle? Fear?

How quaint.

“Courtyard time is over. Do not linger, and return to your cell promptly.” Lin Yi bangs on the pole with his baton once more, breaking the silence.

Lion turns to glance at Lin Yi instead. He smiles a little, seemingly in surprise, and leaves without a question.

The Bunny appears stunned for a moment, as he looks at Old Coyote in reflex. He appears too preoccupied with observing Lin Yi to care, so the guy quickly follows after Lion to leave.

Now, there are only Lin Yi, Old Coyote, and… The open cell behind him.

Being a prison officer who has gone through floors via his Outstanding Supervisor position, the fourth floor appears far too lax to him.

It’s technically Stargaol, but the way things happen here suggests it’s more of a regular city block.

Yes, what better description for a place where everyone is free to enter and leave their residence at their pleasure?

“Come in.” Black Glove speaks up from within, “tell me why Captain sent you?”

Old Coyote walks inside, followed by Lin Yi.

“When does he want me dead?” That is the question the man leaning on the bed asks Lin Yi as soon as they see each other.

Lin Yi examines Black Glove. He is middle-aged, tall and imposing. There is a scar across his entire face, and which is quite telling of how severe the wound was——A few more inches, and his face would truly be divided. It is a scar he received, defending Nianluo’s Captain.

“Vice-Cap, we cannot be sure Captain sent him…” Old Coyote speaks up.

Black Glove glances at him, “I know him.”

Old Coyote is quite deferential in attitude, “I also know him, but right now, lord knows how many people have their eyes on you. He might have been sent…”

Black Glove stops him, “I know him, because my brother introduced me to him. His most trusted aide, the double agent, Redcloud.”

“Redcloud?” A name infamous for most members of Nianluo——As a spy in Nianluo, they have sabotaged countless important plans of the organisation. They have never fallen out of the top three position of those most wanted by Nianluo. They’ve tried countless times to investigate and expose them, all ending in failure.

“A double agent?!” Old Coyote looks back at Lin Yi in disbelief. The very first thing that comes to mind, is he is too young. The next, is he is unreliable. He’s like a shallow, passionate pond one can easily see through.

Just another average young man.

Instead of a spy who always has a mask on, never mind a double agent, whose life revolves only around deceptions and lies.

“Got you good, didn’t he?” Black Glove coughs a few times on his bed, “when I was told, I was just as shocked.”

Lin Yi has a slightly embarrassed look on his face, even if the words he is saying suggest otherwise, “Vice-Captain, it will make my job more difficult if you just up and told secrets to other people.”

“It won’t be difficult,” Black Glove looks at Old Coyote, “I’ve only lasted as long as I did on this floor because of Coyote. I trust him more than anyone else.”

“Vice-Cap…” Old Coyote takes a deep breath, before saying, “you’ve saved my life.”

Lin Yi does not comment on that, and gets back down to business, “I’ve been ordered to come despite the risk for a reason.”

“I’m listening.”

Lin Yi glances towards Old Coyote.

“I’ve told you I trust him. I won’t keep anything from him.”

“I see. Listen carefully, the Captain would like you to…”
