When I think about it, I have seldom asked for help from others.

I can solve most things on my own, and I have always thought that those who are blessed should be the ones to help, not the ones to be helped.

In other words, the sight of my dainty body being invaded by poison and clinging to him, “Astaroth-sama, I am in pain….” would be very rare and fulfill his slightly heavy desire for control.

I feel sorry that I distorted Astaroth’s originally possibly pure affection for me just because I said I would devote myself to Gilbert-sama.

In order to take responsibility for distorting his love, I must give him a proper response.

But I can’t go to bed with a poisoned body for Astaroth’s sake, can I? I don’t know what to do.

“What are you talking about, you stupid woman? Has the poison driven you mad?”

Gilbert-sama says in a disgusted tone.

Gilbert-sama is really not so honest to call me a stupid woman, a lovely beautiful girl who is about to fall ill from the poison.

“Lydith, you don’t look well. Are you all right?”

“Come on, Astaroth. It’s your fault.”

I was about to slump to the floor when Gilbert’s arms lifted me up as if I were a package.

My limbs are numb and my breathing is labored. The meat I’ve eaten is only about half, and probably not lethal, but I can feel the disgusting sweat pouring down my forehead.

“That’s my… young Master.”

Astaroth seems to have said something, but I didn’t hear much.

“Don’t be silly. She’s just a cleaning lady, leave her alone, you damn snake.”

Master Gilbert shouted in an irritated voice. I’m in a lot of pain, so please don’t shout so loud.

I couldn’t reply to Astaroth, who waved his hand, “See you later, Lydith-chan.”

I resent my body, which is not resistant to poison. If this were the case, I should have not only eaten safe foodstuffs but also tended to poisonous plants when we were encamped.

My negligence had brought this on, and I should be sorry.

I thought absentmindedly as Gilbert-sama held me up.

By the way, Gilbert-sama’s arms are very stable. While I am being carried, I feel as if I was a young child again.

The swaying of my body as I am been carried feels like the swaying of the carriage in which I once lost my life.

Why was the carriage in such a hurry at that time?

Was there some reason for it to be in such a hurry?

How could it be so fast just to take me to the whorehouse?

“I… wonder if I’m going to die… again.”

“Again?”

“…Gilbert sir, … I’m sorry for my pathetic appearance.”

It seems that I muttered something unconsciously. After being questioned, I suddenly came to my senses and apologized to Gilbert-sama.

As a cleaning lady, I had to come up with a countermeasure for Cronaea-san from tomorrow, but I didn’t expect that I would suffer from poison just by cleaning the cellar.

I can only reflect on that. I need to catch a forest grizzly or so

that apparently lives in the forest and find out how poisonous it is.

If I survive, I’ll have to eat a little bit of it and get my body poison-resistant in case something unforeseen happens. For the future.

“Shut up for a minute, stupid woman… you did nothing wrong.”

I know that I didn’t do anything wrong.

I just didn’t try hard enough, and as long as I’m alive, I can make up for the shortfall.

I don’t need him to go out of his way to comfort me about being poisoned.

I’m sure that’s this kindness of Gilbert-sama, so I decided to accept it willingly.

“…Thank you, Gilbert-sama.”

“Rest assured, you will not die.”

My vision is dark, and I can feel my body being dropped onto something soft.

A large, warm palm touches me on my belly. Along with the warmth, I feel the pain gradually disappearing.

“…huh–”

My breathing, which had been labored as if I were being strangled, eases a little.

When I open my eyes thinly, Master Gilbert is looking at me with a frown on his face.

When I look at his face up close like this, his golden eyes are very beautiful, although his eyes are not so bright. They are like bright stars floating in the night sky.

“Is it really just  poisoned meat, or is it something else?” I said in a whisper.

I had just eaten some forest grizzly meat and drank some forest strawberry juice. I didn’t put anything else in my mouth in particular.

My general numbness and breathing have eased up a lot, but the burning in my body has not subsided.

“I had no choice, this is a therapy treatment, nothing else.”

Gilbert-sama was mumbling something.

“Lydith.”

I opened my lips to reply as my name was called.

I felt something soft touch me and then something hot and large entered my mouth.

I am not sure what it is, but it moves down my throat and around the inside of my body, and after a while, it slips out of my lips once more.

The pressure and discomfort were fleeting, and I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep, completely comfortable.

I heard a voice calling my name in a distance, but I was too sleepy for that now.

I would thank Gilbert-sama properly when I woke up.

I felt something touch me again, but I decided not to pay much attention to it.

Gilbert-sama is my husband-to-be, so he can touch me as much as he likes, so I couldn’t find anything to say.
