Chapter 252 - I'd come and visit often

When they finally reached in front of the columbarium, Xiao Lei watched as Han Ye slowly put the urn containing Wu Yuexue's ash in one of the small, compartmentalized boxes. However, Xiao Lei noted that these compartmentalized boxes were actually a lot larger than what one would usually find at a public columbarium.

"The Du Family is really a wealthy family..." she thought as she watched Han Ye standing in front of the compartmentalized boxes. When they walked up, she saw the graves that were on the other side of the burial ground. Each of the graves was at least triple the size of what would be considered normal.

And there was also a crypt in the middle of the graveyard. Xiao Lei did not manage to have a good look at it, but she figured that it was most likely the crypt of an ancient ancestor of Du Family.

The only sounds that could be heard were the sound of feet shuffling and the sound of the monk chanting some scripture.

Han Ye had a complex expression on his face when he closed the small glass door to the compartmentalized box. "Yuexue, this is your home from now onward..." he whispered as he placed his hand on the small glass door softly. His eyes were soft as he stared at the portrait of Wu Yuexue, and the memories of her kept replaying themselves in his head, causing him to wonder if he would one day regret leaving her here by herself.

"I'd come and visit often, Yuexue... You won't be lonely," Han Ye said softly before pulling his hand away. He then glanced back and looked at Xiao Lei, who was also looking at him. "Xiao Lei, here."

Xiao Lei nodded and stood forward. When she was right next to Han Ye, Han Ye said in a low voice where only Xiao Lei could hear, "Yuexue, I found her... Did you do this? Did you make it so that our paths would cross again? I know that if you were still alive, you'd definitely be the happiest person on Earth."

Xiao Lei smiled, and she said in an equally soft voice, "Yuexue, I wish we have never been separated... I miss you so much, and I always thought about you and Han Ye when I was on the run... I wish we could go back to before. Me, you, and Han Ye..."

Her voice choked a little as tears formed in her eyes. She then chuckled and placed one of her hands on her belly as she said, "Yuexue... I'm pregnant with twins. We've confirmed it."

She glanced at Han Ye before saying with a grin, "It's not Han Ye's, don't worry. There's nothing between me and him. I'll help you look after him. Don't worry, I won't let just any girls get their hands on him. They would have to go through me if they want to take advantage of him!"

Han Ye chuckled softly. "What the heck are you talking about?"

Xiao Lei smirked. "Just the truth."

They talked for a minute more before stepping aside so that their guests could pay their respects to Wu Yuexue. Everyone took turns to put down their joss sticks in the small golden pot with a dragon carved on it, and when they were done, they stood in front of Wu Yuexue's urn box and gave a deep bow.

Even the almighty President Du gave her a proper bow.

"Little Monkey, here..." Kai Xin said as she reached out for her daughter who had just woken up. When she had her daughter in her arms, she stood closer to the urn box and said, "Without Han Ye's sacrifice, she wouldn't be here today... And I just want to tell you that I'm very thankful, and I'm sorry that you couldn't spend more time with him. Don't worry about him. XiAn and I will take care of Han Ye properly."

"Mummy?" Little Monkey asked as she rubbed her sleepy eyes. "Who you talk to?"

"This is Aunt Yuexue. She's Han Ye's wife. Remember? We told you that she went to the heavens not long before you were born," Kai Xin said patiently as she gently pushed the bangs away from her daughter's eyes. "Come," she added as she placed a single joss stick in her daughter's hand. "Be careful. Put it between your hands and move it up and down three times."

So that she would understand her mother's instructions better, DX stood forward and showed Little Monkey how to do it, and she followed his steps. After that, DX took the joss stick from her and put it in the joss stick pot.

Little Monkey watched her father's movement before looking around. When she saw Han Ye, she reached out to him. Kai Xin looked at him and said, "It's fine."

However, Han Ye shook his head and smiled as he took Little Monkey from her mother, upon which Little Monkey placed a huge kiss on Han Ye's cheek, which took him by surprise.

"What was that for?" he asked with a smile.

"I love you, Uncle Han..." Little Monkey said as she placed her head on his shoulder. "No sad, alright?"

Han Ye smiled and patted Little Monkey's back as he whispered, "I love you, Little Monkey..."

Everyone smiled upon seeing them.

After everyone said whatever they wanted to say to Wu Yuexue, they went to the small temple next to columbarium to take a rest. When they arrived, they saw William Tan and Tiffany Tang, as well as their son, Caleb Tan. William Tan's younger brother, Javier Tan, and Dr. Phillip were also there.

They felt that the event earlier was private, and it should be for close friends and family so that they could say whatever they wanted freely. While Dr. Phillip was quite close to Han Ye, it was only because of their relations to DX. William Tan and his family were even further away from Han Ye.

Hence, they decided to pay their respects after the main group of friends and family had paid their respects.

"Ah, you've met William and Caleb before, but I think this is the first time you meet William's wife, right?" Han Ye asked.

Xiao Lei nodded. She looked at the woman with her hair tied in a bun, and she could see the small earpiece by her ear, which looked like the one Caleb wore before. Xiao Lei smiled as she extended a hand.

She then said, "Nice to meet you. I'm Xiao Lei."

Tiffany Tang smiled and shook her hand. "Nice to meet you, Xiao Lei. I'm Tiffany Tang. My son has told me a little about you," Tiffany Tang said as she placed a hand on the top of her son's head and caressed it lightly. "I'm sorry that my little boy has given you trouble before."

Xiao Lei shook her head. "It's not a big deal. Don't worry about it. He's a good boy."

Tiffany Tang nodded. "He is..."

She then looked up at Xiao Lei and asked, "I heard that you have a son as well? Is he here today?"

"No," Xiao Lei said as she shook her head. "He went through a lot lately. His best friend passed away recently, you see... And he's still affected by it, so I didn't want to bring him along in case he felt worse."

Tiffany Tang gasped softly when she heard that Xiao Zhihao's best friend passed away, and she said softly, "I'm sorry to hear that. It's never easy to lose someone dear to you..."

She then glanced at her husband as well as Javier, Phillip, Layla, and finally, DX, who was carrying Wyatt around as he tried to feed him.

When DX felt her stare, he looked up and nodded at her before turning his attention back to his son.

"It's never easy, but it's a process that everyone has to go through... I only wish that my son wouldn't have to go through it at his age," Xiao Lei said with a sigh.

They continued to talk about their sons for a short while before all the women gathered together to have a chat. Callum was playing house with Little Monkey, while Luo Guangying was sitting by the door with Han Ye.

William Tan, Javier Tan, Dr. Phillip, and DX talked while DX was still feeding his son, who was being fussy.

After a small talk, William Tan said to DX, "We will go pay our respects to Han Ye's wife now. After that, we can go over to see him."

DX nodded. "I'll meet you guys outside the columbarium this one finishes his milk."

He then looked down at Wyatt and pretended to frown at him, which only made Wyatt smile.
