Chapter 202 - She's like her, isn't she?

As he looked at her, Han Ye could not help but laugh softly before looking at Lu Ziyan. "She's like her, isn't she?"

Lu Ziyan grinned wryly. "Don't remind me. I prefer her to depend on me more."

An Xin narrowed her eyes at them. She knew that they were talking about "Kai Xin" when they said "her". "I'm nothing like Kai Xin..."

"You're a little like her," Han Ye disagreed.

"Just a little though," Lu Ziyan said as he reassured her. "You're not as mean as Kai Xin, nor as violent, and trust me, she can get real mean and violent if she's provoked. Anyway, that's why I didn't tell you about Thomas."

"What?" An Xin frowned. "What's this thing about Thomas?"

"Erm... Nothing," Lu Ziyan said nervously when he realized that he had slipped. He then placed another piece of braised chicken feet on her plate and said, "Eat more. Don't stop."

"I'm not easily placated by food. What's this thing about Thomas?"

Lu Ziyan glanced at Han Ye, who looked away and pretended that he was not part of this. He then sighed softly, "I might have secretly pushed the bastard's company up a little..."

"What..." An Xin gasped. A sad expression appeared on her face as she asked, "Why..."

Looking at her face, Lu Ziyan panicked, and he immediately took her hand in his as he explained, "I didn't want to tell you this because I want to make it a surprise... But... there's only a week away anyway..."

"What? Don't drag it out!"

"I've evidence of Thomas Ou bribing officials as well as using his company as a front for drug trading activities," Lu Ziyan explained. "It's a good thing you divorced him when you did."

An Xin stared at him for the longest period of time. She knew that her ex-husband might not be the best man there was, but a criminal? "H-how? When?!"

"Ziyan started digging the moment he found out that you were hurt by him," Han Ye said. "He even paid a huge sum to the Shenlong Family to get more information on Thomas Ou's underground activities."

An Xin gasped and looked at Lu Ziyan with a thankful gaze. "But why?"

"I don't like that he hit you..." Lu Ziyan smiled. "You're meant to be loved and cared for, not to be treated as a sandbag."

An Xin bit her lower lip for a while before saying softly, "We weren't even together back then..."

"It doesn't matter. I just wanted to do something for you," Lu Ziyan muttered. He scratched the back of his head awkwardly, like a child who was unsure whether he did something wrong. "Are you angry?"

To his surprise, she shook her head. "No. He deserved everything... I just wish I have the power to take him down myself."

Lu Ziyan leaned closer to her as he whispered, "You have it now... Through me."

They then both stared at each other while their breathing started to get faster and faster, as if they both wanted to devour each other then and there... when suddenly...

"Excuse me, but you're not alone here..."

When they turned to look at Han Ye, he had a hand placed an inch in front of his eyes while his other hand was holding a pair of chopsticks as he continued to eat.

An Xin turned red from embarrassment while Lu Ziyan laughed out loud.

"By the way, why did you go drinking last night?" Lu Ziyan asked Han Ye. "It's rare for you to drink to the point of getting drunk."

"Heartbroken," Han Ye replied as a matter of fact. It was as if he was talking about someone else being heartbroken instead of him.

"What? Why?"

"Nothing. We are just incompatible."

Lu Ziyan raised an eyebrow. "Erm... Alright then... But, aren't you supposed to attend a party organized by the Fan Family?"

"Yeah..."

"Wouldn't it be awkward?"

Han Ye shrugged. "Maybe. But I'm going as President Du's assistant and on behalf of him. I've never said that I'm going as Angela's boyfriend."

"Still..." Lu Ziyan thought for a while before saying, "I don't think that the party would go smoothly."

Han Ye sighed. "Whatever... I can handle everything."

He was confident with his own ability. It was Xiao Lei that he was worried about. He worried that she might lose control when faced with her family members.

Just as he was thinking about her, his phone received a message from the bank.

When Lu Ziyan saw the blood drain out of Han Ye's face, he asked in a worried tone, "Is everything alright?"

Han Ye gulped. "It's been less than 2 hours, and that woman managed to hit the limit on my credit card... Granted, there was a $5000 limit on it, but still... For a woman who had been living in poverty for years, she sure moved fast!"

When they heard Han Ye's words, both Lu Ziyan and An Xin laughed.

"What did she spend on?" An Xin asked while smiling slightly. "She doesn't look like someone who would spend on clothes or jewelry."

Han Ye looked at all his notifications and smiled after a while. "Baby products and school supplies... And some other things from a departmental store. It's not stated in the notifications."

"She probably bought something for Wyatt and Little Monkey," Lu Ziyan said before taking a sip from his cup Chinese tea. As he poured for himself and An Xin, he added, "She looks like the type that loves kids."

Han Ye nodded. Xiao Lei probably bought branded stuff for Wyatt, seeing as he was the newborn son of one of the richest men in the country. He figured that she bought something for Little Monkey to apologize for yesterday as well. "Well, that's fine. I don't really mind her spending the money. It's not a lot anyway."

"This comes from the guy who got mad because I took his credit card and went on a splurge at the casino," Lu Ziyan said while grinning broadly. "And I only lost $100."

"Well, that's cause you have your own card!" Han Ye protested. "You're doing equally well, but I don't get why you always find the need to use my card instead!"

"It's more fun to gamble with another man's money," Lu Ziyan joked. "Besides, Guangying asked me to go in the last minute, and I was outside your room at that time."

He shrugged, as if it was only right for him to enter Han Ye's room because it was near.

They continued to talk, and about an hour later, they made their way to the hospital.

By the time they arrived, Kai Xin's room was in an extremely lively mood.

"Han Ye," Kai Xin called out when she noticed him. There were a lot of people in the room, but surprisingly, DX was not there.

"Madam President Du," Han Ye greeted her. "Your younger sister is here, but she's a little shy, so she went to visit Wyatt with Ziyan first. Where's President Du?"

Kai Xin nodded. She and her sister had much to work on their relationship. She figured that with An Xin being with Lu Ziyan now, she would have plenty of chances to do something about their relationship.

"XiAn is checking on Wyatt now."

After Han Ye greeted the rest of her family, Kai Xin gestured for him to sit down next to him. "Thanks for your gifts, by the way," Kai Xin said as her eyes landed on the mountain of gifts at the corner of the room. "You shouldn't have bought that many presents. Guangying dropped them off earlier, but he's off to look at the baby now."

"Me?" Han Ye was confused. "Oh. That's probably Xiao Lei."

He figured that she asked Luo Guangying to help her deliver the presents.

"Xiao Lei? Why would she buy so many things?"

"Probably to compensate for yesterday." Han Ye grinned wryly when he thought about what had happened yesterday.

"Oh? Because she hit my precious baby?"

"You knew?"

"Little Monkey told me earlier," Kai Xin said with a chuckle as she shot a brief glance at her daughter who was ripping off the gift wrappers with Ki Rin and Mo Yuan. Her daughter had told her what had happened... Well... gesturing. Kai Xin had to figure out the meaning, which was hidden deep between the blabbers and the unnecessary info. "Do you want to tell me something?"

Han Ye sighed and explained the entire matter to her. At the end of it, he added, "She didn't mean to hurt her or anything. She was just trying to scare her. I think that's how she raised her own son as well."

Kai Xin sighed as she waved her hand nonchalantly. "Don't worry about it. I'll talk to my husband so that he won't bother her. It's a good thing for Little Monkey to go through it. None of you guys would discipline her. At least Xiao Lei meant well, and she did not use strength or anything. Look at her..."

When they looked at Little Monkey and her friends, Kai Xin continued, "She was a lot nicer to Mo Yuan today... which was good, considering what happened."

"Why? What had happened?" Han Ye asked in a hushed tone. He had figured out that whatever Kai Xin wanted to talk about, it was not anything good.

Kai Xin lowered her voice as she said, "His mother attempted suicide the night before. That was why Jane left Yuan Yuan with us since early morning yesterday. Keep this low for now. We don't want Yuan Yuan to realize that something was wrong."
