Chapter 163 - You will regret it

Han Ye looked up and saw that Head Manager Han was standing next to him while holding a takeaway cup of coffee.

The man had always worn a suit and seemed to have no life outside of Hotel W. However, President Du trusted Head Manager Han, and Han Ye knew that prior to working at Hotel W, Head Manager Han used to work for the Shenlong Family and his ranks within the infamous underground family was quite high as well.

Han Ye did not know why Head Manager Han left the Shenlong Family. President Du merely mentioned that Head Manager Han wanted to make someone proud. Who? Han Ye never asked.

He looked at Head Manager Han with such a complicated expression that the latter could not help but ask, "Is there anything wrong, Mr. Han?"

Han Ye stood up and gestured at the seat opposite him as he said, "Head Manager Han... Can you please sit? I've something to talk to you about."

To Han Ye's surprise, Head Manager Han sat without any hint of hesitation.

When the waiter was walking toward them with a menu, Head Manager Han waved his hand nonchalantly and sent the waiter off. He then asked Han Ye with a serious expression, "Is everything alright? Did President Du send you here for something?"

Han Ye looked at Head Manager Han. For the first time ever, he was looking at Head Manager Han clearly. He could not see any resemblance between him and Head Manager Han. Were they really brothers?

With a sigh, he shook his head. "No, I'm not here because of President Du... I came here specifically today to talk to you."

"About what?"

Han Ye looked at Head Manager Han's eyes. "Your younger brother..."

There was a moment of silence before Head Manager Han asked, "She talked to you, didn't she?"

"Your mother is worried about you."

Head Manager Han chuckled coldly.

"That woman has never been worried about me her whole life. You can just dismiss whatever she said to you," Head Manager Han scoffed before standing up. He nodded and was about to walk away when Han Ye stood up and blocked his way.

"Mr. Han." Head Manager Han glared at Han Ye.

"I don't know why I suddenly have a brother that I know nothing about, and I don't know who else to talk to. I just want to know more."

"There's nothing to say. Don't talk to that woman anymore. As for you and me, there's nothing between us," Head Manager Han said before attempting to walk away.

Han Ye grabbed the man's arm and asked gruffly, "Then why did you care for me so much when Yuexue passed away?"

Head Manager Han hesitated for a split second before replying, "It's President Du's order."

"You're lying!" Han Ye hissed.

"It doesn't matter."

"It does! Why didn't you live with us? What happened back then? I want to know!"

"I didn't want to live with you or your mother. That's all. And don't talk to that woman anymore. She's not like your mother. That woman only cares about herself."

Han Ye massaged his glabella as he muttered, "You shouldn't treat your mother like that. She had her problems back then, and she just wanted to talk to you."

"It doesn't matter, and this is none of your business."

"Han Xuan!"

Han Ye felt so awkward calling Head Manager Han by his given name now that he knew the relation between them. He could count the times he referred to Head Manager Han with his name with one hand.

"Han Ye!" Head Manager Han snapped. He then calmed himself down before saying, "Did she tell you about the reason why she came to look for me? No, right?"

Han Ye knew, but before he could say anything, Head Manager Han raised a hand to signal him to keep quiet.

Head Manager Han then signaled a waiter to come over before looking at Han Ye. "She wanted my blood. Because her precious grandson is sick, and he needs a transplant. That's why she came looking for me. All because she wanted to test out my compatibility with her precious son's son! It's not because of anything else. And not because she missed me or anything! Mr. Han, if I were you, I'd stop stepping into someone else's problem. You are busy enough handling President Du's matters. You should focus more on your own life instead of mine."

When the waiter arrived, Head Manager Han said gruffly, "The bill is on me."

"Yes, sir," said the waiter.

"Head Manager Han!" Han Ye called out when Head Manager Han walked away. "You'll regret it if you don't help!"

Head Manager Han stopped in his tracks and turned back to look at Han Ye. With a cold sneer, he said, "I've never regretted anything that I've done before, and this won't be an exception."

With that said, he then walked away.
