Chapter 100 - I paid for your meals!

"Your boss... was very mean!" Xiao Lei cursed as she slammed her chopsticks down. All her appetite was gone when she thought about what Han Ye had to do just to get DX to help him. "What the f*ck was wrong with that man?! That was a slave contract! What was he? A tyrant king?"

Her reaction startled Han Ye a little, but he eventually laughed softly. For people who did not DX, they would think of him as a cold b*stard... or a tyrant king. Only those who had earned his trust would know his true face.

However, Han Ye admitted. Those first few years were tough. He was basically working 24/7, and DX did not allow him to go to see Wu Yuexue at the hospital every day. He was only allowed to visit her up to three times a week.

Looking at Xiao Lei's angry expression, he could not help but reach over to ruffle her head.

When she looked at him, he said with a grin, "He's actually not that bad. I got minimum wage for the first 10 years, but all my meals and accommodation were covered by the company. And he gave me extremely good bonuses after the end of the 10th year, and honestly, other than the occasional pranking and threats, I do enjoy working for him."

"B*tthead..." Xiao Lei still could not help but curse DX one last time. She then picked her chopsticks up and continued eating as she asked, "So, about the guy who caused the accident?"

"25 years, with no chance of parole until he's at least 15 years in." Han Ye smiled. "President Du got me Yuexue back the day after I signed the contract, and he did everything that he promised he would do. Her parents did not bother me after that day as well. They accepted that she was gone, and they let me do whatever I wanted with her."

Seeing that Xiao Lei looked so happy to hear that, it made Han Ye a little confused.

"Xiao Lei?" Han Ye said with a serious expression.

"Yeah," she replied as she chewed on a piece of broccoli.

"Are you friends with Yuexue?"

Xiao Lei gulped and laughed. "How's that possible? She was so rich, and I'm so poor!"

He squinted and said, "I... have never said that she was rich..."

She looked sideways for a second before she replied, "I-I guess! Her parents sounded like some rich people who looked down on poor people."

She then smiled and pretended to be innocent.

Han Ye stared at her. After a few seconds, he shrugged, "Well... I guess that makes sense..."

She secretly exhaled a sigh of relief before she said, "I just feel bad, cause I know what it's like to lose somebody you love."

"Your parents?"

"I guess Tian Le told you?" Xiao Lei asked. When he nodded, she sighed and nodded. "Yeah..."

"How did they pass away?"

"Car accident. It was a long time ago..."

"Why didn't you stay with an orphanage? I'm sure life would have been better."

"I... I was staying with someone previously. He was... mean and scary, so I ran away. Then I met my husband," she said. She then gave him a bright smile as she added, "He gave me a happier life than what I'd get with anyone else."

Han Ye finished his bowl of rice and said, "Would you like to talk more about your husband? I'd like to know more. He seems like a good man. Of course, if you don't..."

Excited at the chance of being able to talk about her wonderful husband, Xiao Lei quickly interrupted him, "He wa- He is! Let me tell you!"

She then cleared her throat and sat up straight. "Once upon a time, there was a very beautiful little girl named... Xiao Lei."

...

Little Fan Wushuang was hungry; she hadn't had much to eat since last night. And last night, she only had some leftover cold food that she stole from a restaurant.

When she tried to steal a piece of bread from a bakery earlier, the shop owner caught her and threw her out after slapping her.

Sore, tired, and hungry, she went back to the convenience store where she met the kind young man from before. She hoped that he was there. At the very least, he seemed like he would give her some food.

However, after waiting there for a few hours, he still did not appear. With a sad expression, Little Fan Wushuang peeked into the convenience store and saw that it was 10 minutes after 12 am.

"Guess he won't be here today..." she thought sadly.

Just as she was about to leave, a clean-shaven man dressed in work attire came over and asked for direction to a hotel. Fan Wushuang knew that hotel and she told him the direction but he was confused by her description.

"It's just opposite the road. Then turn left, at the second junction, turn right, then, left again. It's not that hard to remember!" she said impatiently as she looked at the dumb man.

"Little girl, why don't you take me there? I'll pay you," he said with a smile. He scratched the back of his head as he smiled awkwardly. "I'm never good with directions."

Little Fan Wushuang blinked. She thought for a moment before she asked in a timid voice, "Can you buy me food? I'm really hungry and I don't have the energy to walk there."

"Of course!" the man went into the convenience store and bought her two cups of instant noodles.

Little Fan Wushuang immediately took the cup noodles and smiled at him before she went into the store to get the hot water. It was not a lot but at least, it was enough to keep her full until the next meal. Once she was done eating, she smiled at him and said, "Alright... I'll take you there."

She walked with the man. However, the man kept touching her while he talked. At first, it was just a bump, but he quickly acted overly friendly with her and Little Fan Wushuang could tell. When he placed his hand on her shoulders, she looked up. He was still smiling at her, but Fan Wushuang felt that the smile was eerie.

It shook her to the core, and her guts told her to run as far away as possible.

He had a grip on her shoulder as if he knew what she was thinking about. Fan Wushuang kept her calm. It was not her first time dealing with a*sholes, and she could not allow herself to show her fear at this moment.

So, she pretended that everything was fine, and as they walked, she talked happily with him, pointing out the shops and what was good in them.

"There! Look at that clown!" she pointed toward his right side. "He's funny!"

"Oh?" the man still maintained his smile as he turned to take a look.

Fan Wushuang took the opportunity to run back. It was already late at night, and there was no one on the street that could help her.

When the man felt his hand dropping, he turned back and saw that she was running away. He then immediately gave chase.

"HEY!" the man yelled as he ran after her.

She could feel him getting closer and closer but she did not dare to look back. If she did, who knew what would happen to her! The adrenaline caused her to keep running faster and faster.

When she saw the convenience store across the street, she dashed straight across the empty street. However, when she arrived, she saw the convenience store was temporarily locked as the man tending it was out for a toilet break.

Just as she was wondering what to do next, she felt someone tapped her on her shoulder and when she turned, the man was smiling at her as he said, "I paid for your meals. You owe me now."

At that moment, she saw her Uncle Chuan and the kidnapper that he sent to take her away and dispose of her.

"I escaped from death twice only to fall in the hands of a pervert?" she thought fearfully as she backed against the convenience store door.

When the man carried her up, Fan Wushuang immediately yelled out in fear as she kept hitting against him. As the man threw her over his shoulder and crossed the street with her, tears started to fall down her cheeks. "No! No! No!"
