Chapter 226 - I Haven'st Met Him

"Andy, thank goodness you are okay…We were so worried about you."

Andrea asked to be married to Lu Fang. Joy filled Li Wen's heart, thinking she was okay. She laughed as she hugged her tight and after almost five minutes of lovingly embracing each other, Andrea asked, "Li Wen? What happened to me?"

Li Wen released Andrea from her hold then smiled at her. Just as she was about to speak, Alfred arrived and came crying as well, "Andy? My daughter, you are finally awake."

"Dad?" Andrea's face was completely puzzled, but she received her adoptive father into her arms knowing everything will be unfolded to her soon enough.

When Alfred had dried his tears, Andrea took the opportunity to speak and clear things out, "Why are you here? Why are you together? Where am I?"

She then turned to Li Wen and asked, "Why again did you want me to marry Lu Fang? It was for a mission, right?"

Li Wen's mouth fell wide open. She turned to Alfred who had the same exact reaction. Their eyes were glued to each other for a second before Li Wen asked, "Andy, what exactly do you remember about Lu Fang?"

"You told to take the job of protecting him at all costs, he was my next subject to protect," Andrea replied but soon frowned and stared across the room.

She saw images of herself preparing for the interview, Hanxi coming down to meet her in a building, meeting Li Wen in a hotel, watching Mei-Mei riding a horse made into a unicorn and a man whose face she does not recognize telling her she was an asset for Project Zero. Despite the visions, she could not connect all the dots.

"Why am I recalling events that I don't exactly remember?"

"Andy?" Alfred probed, "do you remember anything beyond that? Like meeting Lu Fang - "

"No! I was about to meet him… or maybe I did? Did I have an accident? Was I shot?" Andrea asked as she immediately touched her body, including her head. Realizing it was extremely short, she asked, "What happened to my hair?"

Alfred and Li Wen did not know where to start. On the bright side, it didn't seem like she forgot herself but only the recent events in her life.

"Andy, it's true that I asked you to protect Lu Fang, and you did it really well," Li Wen began to narrate.

"I did? But I never recall… Wen? I haven't met him. Have I?" Andrea kept thinking, forcing herself to remember. She saw another set of images, but most of Li Wen. She murmured, "I see memories of you I don't recall us ever making or did we? - Eehhh! My head hurts."

Andrea's eyes became watery then she started to gasp for air and without warning, she fainted back to her bed.

Li Wen cried again. Just when she thought her sister was fine, apparently, she was having amnesia.

The doctors check on Andrea's vitals and confirmed, generally, she was doing fine. While Andrea was resting, he explained to them that amnesia is common for some comatose patients after waking. At the same time, he expressed his concern, "It's just that we have run the test so many times. Her brain did not incur any major bleeding to or lack of oxygen. I cannot explain her symptoms for now, but let us continue to observe her… and for the meantime, let's not shock her with information."

"Let's try slowly telling her what she had forgotten."

Li Wen realized it may have something to do with the hypnosis treatment her sister received from the ship and so she asked Alfred to let Gabriel help her review the videos.

Lu Fang had left for the US to find Nancy York and as he, Hanxi and two men from Alfred's side were driving down the road, he received a call from Li Wen. "Lu Fang, Andrea is awake."

The man was speechless for a moment. His heart was jumping for joy, excited to hear his wife's voice, "How is she? Wen, please. I need to speak with her."

"Not now, Lu Fang… Not now - "

"What do you mean? Why not?" Lu Fang's brows drew together, worried that there was another hurtful news that was about to come his way.

"She fainted again, but she's all right! Don't worry. The doctor said we should not rush her. I'll call you again when she wakes up, okay?"

"Are you sure, everything is fine?" The man asked again.

"Her physically, she is fine, but right now she is confused with the facts... I'll call you again tomorrow. At least now, know that she is awake and you can rest easy at night."

Li Wen did not have the heart to tell Lu Fang that night. She could not break his heart any more than it already has.

Another day passed and Andrea still could not recall Lu Fang. He recalls Hanxi, Yeong and Li Wen's family, but not her family. They held back from flooding her with information, about being married and having twins, but they started to verify if she had any recollection of her husband.

Gabriel dedicated his day to watch all the videos pertaining to Andrea's therapy inside while inside the Neptune Trader and it was then that they discovered the therapist tried to suppress her memories starting with the twins, then with Lu Fang and his family.

"You are an assassin for Project Zero. After you left the Davies, you came to us for help and we groomed you to be one of our own."

"You never had children."

"You never met Lu Fang."

When Gabriel shared to Alfred and Li Wen, they fully understood what Andrea went through, "They tried to make her forget her family so she can play the part being their puppet. For the most part, however, she resisted. If they had managed to control her completely, you can imagine how much more she had forgotten."

Gabriel turned to Li Wen saying, "I'm surprised they did not touch on you?"

Li Wen was in deep thought but came to a conclusion, "It's because they don't know about me. I don't believe they ever knew about me. I'm also a product of Project Zero, but I never saw them coming after me."

Suddenly, her eyes showed a glimmer of hope and said, "That was why she told me yesterday... she could hear my voice… They could not remove me from her head because they did not know about me."

"That makes sense," Alfred said. "Her memories are just concealed. We can make her remember... slowly."
