Chapter 124 - How are Babies Made?

While having breakfast, Lu Fang occasionally checked online for some horse add-ons so to achieve a unicorn look. The horn was easy but the wings; they looked absolutely fake. He thought, 'I might need to have this made myself.'

"Stop stressing on that, will you, babe? She will forget about it soon," Andrea tried to soothe the man as he had barely touched his food.

He looked up to Mie-Mei who was nibbling on a piece of break then turned to Andrea and whispered, "She might not agree for me to marry you."

Andrea could not help but smile and appreciate his effort. She grabbed the man's phone and placed it inside her bag then kissed him on the cheek before saying, "It's totally not her decision to make. Now, eat."

Seeing his unresolved expression, she added, "If we have kids of our own, we can't give them everything they want."

He let out a sigh as his brows drew together and objected, "Why not?"

"Babe? What kind of question is that?" Andrea was thinking of the best way to explain it and thought of one person. "They become spoiled like Wu Meiwan!"

Lu Wei overheard their conversation also added, "Andy is right, son. Remember how you pleaded with me and your mom to visit the Universal Studios in Orlando? You were attending middle school then, and I asked you to finish number one amongst all grade eight students."

He grinned recalling how Lu Fang studied diligently for months and never stepped outside the house. Once more, he focused his attention on his son before adding, "… And because you did so well, not only did we visit Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida but we also went to Disneyland in Anaheim."

The man was in deep thought and out of the number of ideas that flooded his mind, only one stood out, one that was closest to his heart. He immediately called Xia Mei and said, "Little Mei-Mei, if you help me pray sincerely for me and your Aunt Andy to get married and have a child within this month, I will grant your wish."

"..."

"Really, uncle!" The little girl instantly placed her hands together, closed her eyes and prayed," I am praying for my uncle and aunt to get married soon then give me a baby cousin soon. I want a new playmate because big brother is getting old and I'm getting bored. Then me and my little cousin and fly with my new pet unicorn!"

After reciting, she looked at the man and promised, "Uncle, I'll pray every hour of this day then every day after today!"

While most people in the room burst out laughing, Xia Jianyu frowned at being described as a boring playmate.

"Babe, you made it too easy for her. It's not like I am denying you of having a child or marrying me," scolded Andrea.

"I could not think of anything else. It certainly is not my place to set goals for her studies."

Xia Mei was thrilled but after a while, she thought if her prayers would be enough to for her aunt to have a baby. She then called out to Lu Fang and asked, "Uncle, how are babies made?"

Andrea, "…"

Xia Ting choked at his daughter's interest. Lu Fang, on the other hand, gulped at the query. He realized he had opened pandora's box.

"Haha! Now, now Mei-Mei, there will be a time for you to learn all these things… When you get older perhaps," Li Wen tried to get themselves outside the topic, but the child within Xia Mei could not hold back.

Although it was Xia Jianyu who inherited their mother's brilliant mind, Xia Mei was a very inquisitive and curious four-year-old girl. After her mother attempted to put the topic on hold, she asked, "What's the difference when I am older? Will I not understand?"

Andrea tried to help and responded, "Baby, there are things that are only meant for adults to talk about."

"Why?"

The entire breakfast became a never-ending question of "Why?" and "And then?" Obviously, little Mie-Mei was not satisfied with the explanation.

Lu Fang cleared his throat and told the little girl, "Now, Mei-Mei this will be taught in school and for now, it's a little difficult to understand. Are you sure you are up to it?"

"…"

Everyone in the room became worried as the man implied, he would give her an honest answer.

"Yes, I will try to understand," answered the little girl.

The man lifted his chin and folded his arms, seriously looking at her from across the table, and confirmed, "Very well…"

"Babe?"

Lu Fang winked at Andrea and whispered, "Don't worry, I got it covered."

"What lie are you planning to tell her?"

"I am not going to lie."

Andrea, "???"

"Mei-Mei, I will explain it to you in the simplest possible way so it will be easier for you to understand. You can confirm this with your parents."

Li Wen began to throw daggers at Andrea and but she could only shrug, oblivious of man's plan.

"Okay, Uncle."

After the little girl's reply, Lu Fang cleared his throat and began to explain to her in the simplest way he could, "The human body is capable of reproducing... Thus, it starts with the reproductive system. When two people love each other, they undergo a process called copulation. The easier term for you to comprehend would be the act of coitus. Gametes are released and joined together to form a zygote... Here begins the fertilization stage where cells begin to multiply through mitosis. The period from fertilization to birth is called pregnancy..."

"… And that is how babies are made… It's very simple and easy." He then winked at her and ask, "Now, how about some ice cream?"

Xia Jianyu, stood up and turned his back in an effort to hide his giggle while his sister remained quiet, still processing what her uncle had described to her.

After a few seconds, she finally spoke, "Yeah, I think I want ice cream!"
