Chapter 112 - The Birthday Invitation

On a Saturday morning, the Lu Family was getting ready to leave for the celebration of President's Xia's birthday, the CEO of the Royal Dragon Corporation. Lu Fang had heartbreaking news for Andrea as his grandfather decided to join the trip. He only had four invitations with him.

"Babe, it's alright. I can still go as your security, right? So I can wait outside with Gao Rou?"

The look on the man's face could not be described. He was complaining from inside, 'She was his girlfriend, his fiancé and soon to be wife. How can she even consider going to an important party as my bodyguard.'

"Can you ask Li Wen if she can help get another invitation? I mean, she still has connections with President Xia right?"

"Pfft! Alright. Sure. Maybe I can get one from her. Don't worry about it. Let's get ready to leave."

During the whole flight, Andrea was holding her giggles just the thought of asking Li Wen for an additional invitation. She turned to the man who looked incredibly upset about not bringing her to the party, so she felt the need to try.

Meanwhile, Li Wen had her own plans for Andrea and Lu Fang covering the entire weekend. She had already discussed everything with her family and she was excited about putting her plans into action. While eating a late breakfast, she got a text from her asking for another invitation. She laughed at her and replied three times.

Li Wen: "Hahaha! Why do you need another invitation? Hahaha! Are you insulting me? Better yet, are you insulting yourself? I'll see you at the topmost suite and maybe… just maybe I will find you another invitation."

Andrea: "What are you planning anyway?"

Li Wen: "Just do as I say and come up. You don't need to join the Lus. You aren't a Lu just yet anyhow."

Andrea: "Li Wen? Seriously! Get me another invitation!"

Andrea: "Li Wen?"

Andrea: "Fine! I'll go to see you!"

Andrea: "Are you going to let me escort the President?"

Li Wen: "Who are you kidding?" No! Just the Chairman."

Andrea: "The Chairman? Li Wen!"

She kept sending more text messages after that but there was no response whatsoever. She realized, she can only follow her lead.

When Christina learned that there were only four invitations, she felt disheartened and asked Lu Wei to try from President Xia's side. They tried to reach out to the secretaries but there was no answer.

Andrea, on the other hand, kept reassuring them that it was not necessary. "Mom, it's fine really. Regardless of where I am, inside the banquet hall or the outside, what matters most is that I get to come with you tonight."

All four of them did not want to hurt Lu Jie's feelings and bring up his last-minute decision to join the party. If only he had confirmed much sooner, they may have been able to get Andrea another invitation.

Go Bolin had booked them in the same hotel where the event would be held. Since Lu Jie decided to join last minute, Gao Rou got kicked out of his suite to join the rest of the security team on a regular family deluxe room.

The Four Seasons was fully booked with powerful families staying a night or two just to grace Royal Dragon's CEO with their presence. It was without a doubt the most looked forward event in the entire city.

While the Lus were getting dressed, Andrea received a call from Alfred. Last night they sent them off to the airport and he promised to be back in a few days hoping to spend more time with Christina.

"Andy, we got home safely. Please give my regards to your sister and I hope to see her when I get back."

"Yes, dad. Is Gabe, okay?"

"He'll be fine, Andy. Don't worry."

"Dad, please take extra caution with Nancy. I'm sure you already know this, but the moment she finds out about my mother-in-law coming back to the Davies, she will get frustrated."

There was a moment of silence before Alfred replied, "I know, Andy. I am sorry, my child. I promise to make it right soon."

After their conversation, she found her man in a tuxedo looking extremely handsome. She bit her lip at the sight of this god-like beauty. She thought, 'am I lucky or what? No… no, Andy… he is lucky… or we are both lucky.'

She came up to him and kissed him lightly making sure not to wrinkle his clothes. "You are so handsome. I want to marry you someday."

They both chuckled at her attempt to reenact their childhood encounter.

"Hmmm... Happening soon, Andy. I'm excited to meet your sister. Have you contacted her already?"

"Yes, babe, she is still working on getting an invitation but not really sure how it will turn out. She asked me to meet her in their suite."

He turned to her surprised knowing Li Wen was in the same hotel. "She is staying here?"

"Yes, she needed to get ready for the party. Will you be okay with Gao Rou and his team escorting you to the hall? I'll go to Li Wen first."

"Should be fine, babe. I doubt if Rou Yanlin will try to kill me here."

Before opening the door, he held her hand and tried to make her feel better. "Hopefully, Dad will get to speak with at least one of the Xia's to let you inside. Just keep your phone open alright, babe?"

"Hmmm… okay."

Stepping outside their suite, the Lus were surprised to see how the hotel was heavily guarded. Not only did the Xia's hired their own security but each guest also brought one or two bodyguards. Lu Fang, on the other hand, considering the threat to his life, brought four including Gao Rou.

The moment they approached the doors of the banquet hall, an attendant came to check on their invitation. She was instantly startled knowing who they were and went to the list to check again.

Lu Fang noticed the strange reaction coming from the group at the banquet entrance. It did not take long for two of the attendants to come back and greet them with utmost care. "Good evening! It's a pleasure to assist you tonight. We will be escorting you to your table."

They walked past many tables until they had reached almost the front rows and when one of the attendants gestured for them to take a seat, Christina immediately asked, "are you sure, we are seated here?"

She looked around and saw most of the tables in the same row were reserved for the Xia family. She thought, 'being assigned in the same row, did that imply they had strong affiliations with the Xias or the Royal Dragon?'

"Yes, the Lu Family. We would not be mistaken. The table even has your names on it."
